Chapter 4 - Chapter 3 Farewells and see you later

Pov: Jaylen

'Chirp Chirp'

In the early morning at the Orpheus estate, Sunlight spilled into a large room, gently illuminating a young man's awakening. His gray eyes flutter open, glowing with a profound light that still held traces of drowsiness from the early hour.

"Yawn."

With a stretch and a yawn, I rose from my bed. There was a need to get ready promptly, ensuring I could make my way to the warp gate and reach the academy on time. The past month had been dedicated to thorough preparation for this day.

As I headed towards the bathroom, a knock resonated from the door.

'Knock knock.'

"Young master, it's Mell. May I enter?"

"Come in, Aunt Mell."

Young Master, would you like me to prepare your clothes for you?" Mell asked with her usual blank expression.

Yes, Aunt Mell, that would be helpful. Just set it on the bed; I will get it when I'm done washing up. Thank you," I replied with a smile, then made my way into the bathroom

Jaylen, upon leaving the bathroom swiftly put on a well-fitted pair of denim jeans that hugged his form comfortably, paired effortlessly with a crisp white T-shirt that radiated an air of effortless simplicity. Over this laid-back foundation, he donned a sleek black jacket that added an element of understated sophistication.

What set the jacket apart was the Orpheus family emblem proudly displayed on its arm—a striking depiction of a solar eclipse enveloped by a mysterious, shadowy aura. The emblem not only lent a touch of familial pride but also marked his clear affiliation with the esteemed Orpheus family.

Dressed and ready, I left my room, making my way towards the warp gate. The hallway journey prompted reflection on some of the events that transpired over the past month.

In response to Subaru getting Julia pregnant, a decision was made for her to marry Subaru. Alongside this resolution, Subaru faced proper disciplinary measures for his behavior. The Orpheus family addressed the situation with a blend of responsibility and consequence.

Following this, my older brother Adam announced that his wife was pregnant. In celebration of both my brothers' exciting news, my parents organized a joyous event. However, this momentous occasion led Lilith to playfully tease me about when I too would have a child. The familial atmosphere resonated with both happiness and a touch of good-natured banter.

And finally, Emily achieved a breakthrough into a new realm. The family celebrated her accomplishment, marking another significant event in the Orpheus household during the past month.

Emerging from my thoughts, I descended a flight of stairs and reached the door leading to the warp gate. Upon opening it, the shimmering silhouette of the warp gate became visible in the distance.

Twin marble pillars, weathered by the hands of time, formed a grand arch that beckoned to the curious. Though seemingly broken, the arch retained an air of ancient wisdom, with an enigmatic dialect intricately etched into the surface of each pillar.

Between the pillars, a delicate dance of energies unfolded. A thin, ethereal film-like substance, almost imperceptible, created a shimmering wall within the heart of the arch. It held the promise of otherworldly journeys, a gateway to realms uncharted and distant.

As one approached, the air hummed with a subtle vibration, as if the gate itself whispered the secrets of the cosmos. The runes on the pillars glowed softly, responding to the presence of those who dared to traverse the boundary between worlds.

Reaching the warp gate, my family stood there to see me off, excluding Lilith, who had already gone ahead as a second year at the academy. The solemnity departure lingered in the air as we shared our farewells

"Jaylen," my mom, Anna, said while standing in front of me, wearing a saddened expression as she tried to hold back her tears.

"Mom, I won't be gone for that long, and I'll be back to visit on break," I reassured with an exhausted smile, recalling her similar concerns for Adam and Emily when they went to the academy.

"I know, but–"

My mom tried to continue, but my Father, Victor, interrupted

.

"Anna, it will be fine," Victor said, attempting to Calm his wife.

Unsatisfied, my mom pulled my dad away with a frightening expression on her. I silently wished my father good luck in my mind.

Hey, little bro, be safe out there and be sure to come back in a few months to see your nephew or niece," Adam stated in front of me, offering a fist bump with a smile

"Jaylen, make sure to keep up with your training when you return. We'll spar to see how far you've come." Emily said with a cold look but a small, almost hidden smile.

"See ya, big brother. Make sure to bring back some sweets for me when you return." Eleanor added, giving me a hug.

Confused about Subaru's absence, I questioned, "where's Subaru?"

"He's going through his punishment," My mom explained, walking back over with a smile.

"Be safe, Jaylen, and don't go causing problems and getting some strange girl pregnant even though I believe you would be a great father," My mother advised while hugging me with a smile.

"Alright." I replied, hugging her back.

"It's about time for you to head out," Father said, signaling that I needed to leave to make it on time.

"Stay safe, kiddo," he added as Mell and I walked towards the warp gate.

"I will," I finished with a small smirk, walking through the warp gate, ready for the next chapter of my journey.
