Chereads / Fate: Faithful Knight. / Chapter 13 - 13. My life will stop with your presence

Chapter 13 - 13. My life will stop with your presence

[Morgan heard what you said. ]

[You find that in your heart you still hope that there will be a hint of reluctance on Morgan's face. ]

[But contrary to expectations, she did not cast a regretful look at you, she was still so indifferent, as if you just told her an ordinary thing. ]

[Although you were a little sad, you quickly accepted it all calmly. ]

[A knight is not qualified to ask for things from those he is loyal to. ]

  "Ian."

Morgan's deep blue eyes reflected the figure of Ian before her.

"Do you know what you just said?"

"Yes, My Lady" Ian nodded, "I understand what all this means."

"My life will be brought to an end by you, the princess."

  "..."

Morgan was silent for a while, then slowly said:

"Ian, do you want to make me feel guilty in this way?"

"No." Ian shook his head, "I know that you will never feel guilty because of me."

"I just want to fulfill my final role as a chess piece as you said. In this way, my life can be regarded as burning to the last moment."

"My Lady, I feel from the bottom of my heart that Britain should belong to you. There is no other choice."

[Morgan does not doubt your words. ]

[She knows your loyalty to her, and she also knows that you are really capable of doing such a thing. ]

[It's just that she is still hesitating about something. ]

[You were thinking about whether it would be something related to you, and Morgan confirmed this for you. ]

"Ian, do you really think your death can bring that much value?"

  Morgan's eyes looked very complicated.

"Aren't you...thinking too highly of yourself?"

"My Lady, although you may not believe all this, I still want to tell you."

"In the eyes of people other than you, I am already Vortigern's minion. Countless British knights have died in my hands. I have long been the enemy of the knights."

  "And you, the princess—"

Ian raised his head and looked directly at Morgan in front of him, his eyes were loyal and firm.

"She is the invincible princess of Britain; she is also an invincible sword on the battlefield."

"It will be popular for you to execute me, and every knight will be very happy to see this."

"When my head falls to the ground, they will raise their swords and shout your name, and the virtuous king will also realize that your talent is no empty talk, and you will definitely make Britain continue to shine."

Vortigern said that Morgan was not suitable to be a king and she was not worthy to be his opponent.

  But Ian doesn't believe this.

In his eyes, there was no one in Britain more suitable for the throne than Morgan.

"Ian, don't you regret doing this?" Morgan asked again.

"I will never regret it." Ian replied without hesitation. "I have never regretted it since I swore allegiance to you."

  "..."

Morgan was silent for a long time.

  "I understand, Ian."

"I will chop off your head in front of my father and bury it in the ground beneath my feet."

[No one knows the agreement you made that day. ]

[Morgan went on the road alone with you on the grounds that he wanted to bring you before King Uther for trial. ]

[No one is worried about this, because in their eyes, you are a complete defeat of Morgan, and it is impossible to hurt Morgan at any time. ]

[During this journey when no one else is involved, you and Morgan still get along as a princess and a knight. ]

[You hold her horse and lead her, and take care of her along the way. ]

[This makes you feel like you are back in time. ]

  at night.

"My Lady, here it is, this is your share."

Ian handed the grilled fish to Morgan in front of him respectfully.

After the latter took the grilled fish, he asked with slight surprise: "Ian, you know how to do this?"

"Yes." Ian nodded, "Your Majesty, I come from a humble background, so I naturally know how to deal with the fish I catch."

  "But--"

Morgan looked at the fish in his hand that was skewered by a branch, and then at the portion in Ian's hand that was cooked in the same way.

  "Why...your share is so small?"

Just like what Morgan lamented, even though they were all grilled fish, the portion in his hand was much larger than the portion in Ian's hand.

Facing Morgan's question, Ian just smiled and replied:

"My Lady, you are the future king of Britain."

"Everything on this land belongs to you, and I only bring them to you according to your needs. How can I arbitrarily ask for them without good reason?"

"I am extremely lucky that you allow me to do this."

"Ian..." Morgan held the grilled fish, curled up his legs, looked at the bonfire in front of him, and narrowed his eyes slightly.

"Do you really believe that I can become King of Britain?"

"My Lady, it is not belief, but affirmation."

Ian helped Morgan drive away the flying insects that gathered because of the bonfire.

"You are the future owner of Britain and the king recognized by this country. All knights will be honored by your presence."

"But you are the only one who has said such things to me..."

The bonfire cast a sea of red in Morgan's eyes, making her eyes slightly white.

  She seemed a little tired.

"There will always be someone who is the first, and it will never be the last."

Ian described his understanding in this way, with light in his eyes, as if he was describing the future that has become a fact.

"I am just lucky enough to be recognized as the first by you, the princess. My death will allow you to gain more loyalty."

  "But those are-"

Morgan turned to look at Ian who was standing aside. What she saw was a face that still trusted her absolutely, but it was already covered with scars left by stones.

Morgan realized that this seemed to be the first time she noticed this - Ian really believed in himself with his life, and thus endured countless abuses and misunderstandings.

Everything she wanted to say was swallowed back.

  Instead, there is a command:

"When you keep vigil for me tonight, sit over here by the bonfire. No one will know."

  "As you command, my lady."

[The British army's battle line was not stretched too long. ]

[Your solo journey with Morgan has quickly come to an end. ]

[You were brought to King Uther by her as proof of your achievements. ]

[Morgan said that she will execute you in front of all the knights, so as to boost the morale of the British army. ]

[You thought this would make King Uther realize the importance of Morgan, but you didn't expect him to set his sights on you. ]

[He plans to talk to you alone. ]
