Chapter 4 - Memories

Dawn came with no interruption as Echo awoke from his dreamless slumber, he surveyed the room with a sigh of resignation, fully knowing that what happened yesterday was not a dream at all. He slowly sat up from his bedside and rubbed his temples; he called out.

'Status'

He wanted to explore some of the memories he never got to experience yesterday.

Memories: [Eclipse], [Siren's Call], [Aegis]…

[Eclipse]

Memory Rank: Awakened

Memory Type; Weapon

[Creation was but a void of darkness this is but a broken piece of perfection]

Memory Tier: II

Memory Enhancement: [Lunar Radiance]

Enhancement Description: [Be it in light or in darkness its sharpness can never be deterred, enhances the users mental prowess to resist and grants it every time there is light, while in darkness it enhances the users physical might]

He summoned it and found a pitch black sword of ominous beauty, its edge were razor sharp and can easily slice armor with ease, the moment it was summoned its like the world itself lost its color. Its handle adorned an intricate design of an eclipse, its guard resembles the shadowy outline of the moon.

He remembered Echo got this when his party of five hunters ventured outside the walls of the dark city, they found a wounded carapace centurion and thought of it as easy prey, they were mistaken however, in the end he killed the monster with one desperate stab after an arduous battle, 3 of his party died and only him and another companion survived.

It was of tier-two awakened memory, a valuable asset to have in his arsenal specially with its enhancement. He dismissed the sword. And summoned his most recent find, an armor type memory. Right before he encountered the awakened demon a couple of days back he killed an awakened beast, and he got a memory out of it which was pretty rare.

[Aegis]

Memory Rank: Awakened

Memory Type: Armor

[Forged by fire, Tempered in gold, Honed in wars.]

Memory Tier: I

Memory Enhancement: [Empower]

Enhancement Description: (Passive) [Grants you the enhance strength, agility, and endurance more than you can exert on your own.]

Although this is only a tier-one Awakened memory when he summoned it, you can see a full body armor with beautiful engravings it is gilded with gold in every crevice and although there are some battle scars, it only further enhances the overall beauty and aesthetic of the armor, additionally he can also summon and dismiss the helmet at will.

The enhancement was a boon, a badly needed enhancement for him and his aspect ability.

Lastly the memory that intrigued him was called [Siren's Call] Echo Summoned the memory and what greeted him was a flute.

"Huh?"

[Siren's Call]

Memory Rank: Transcendent

Memory Tier: I

Memory Description: [Heed his call!]

Memory Enhancement: [Abyssal Temptation]

Enhancement Description: [This flute can summon the most harrowing abomination within a miles radius]

"What in the actual fuck!" Echo shouted, clearly shocked.

"If I use this here now it would not only slaughter everyone but it would destroy this whole place"

Echo shivered from the thought, not only is this enhancement a trump card but a very useful one at that, he remember he got this memory back when we only entered this hell, he killed an already dying Transcendent Beast it was bleeding a lot and he got there before any scavengers even got near the corpse though he wasn't able to get its core what he got was an even better memory.

Other than the three memory, all the other ones were rather lackluster though still useful he's got about 15 of them and 18 overall.

"This guy really got luck multiple times across his time here in the Forgotten shore, and he was also smart enough not to let people see some of his important memories, given that he survived a full 3 years here I guess I was looking down on him too much."

Its true, every single sleeper here are that of the elites compared to the sleepers in the real world, some even have a much more potent battle experience than probably most of the awakened, imagine living in hell for more than a year, most wouldn't even think of surviving, so much so when actually living in it.

Echo slowly closed his eyes, to digest every information he got and the asset on which he can use in the future, his memory about his past life is hazy but he does know snippets of it, he lived in a world on a verge of breaking too, wars were slowly being cooked up by many major countries, but those things doesn't concern him so he just lived his life like normal, all the other things were either hazy or he completely forgotten though he do remember reading about Shadow Slave but not all of it, so some of his future knowledge might prove useless here.

"Hah… no use thinking about it so much just live your life one day at a time." He rubbed his eyes and got up to get cleaned and be ready for the day.

Echo stepped out his room as he was walking towards the dining hall he tried to recall some of Shadows Slave's most prominent events, such as the Antarctica Arc, the Battle of the Legacies, even the Ivory Towers. But since this setting was when they were still sleepers he barely remembers some things about it, only major ones.

'I know Gunlaug will eventually die at the hands of Nephis, as well as there will be a siege on the crimson spire, oh and also Sunny's little hideout in the cathedral.'

"What the fuck are you degenerate staring at?" Echo heard a loud and obnoxious voice.

As he was wondering about it he saw Sunny and Cassie on one table, being the focus of attention, not only because Cassie is a beauty but also because of Sunny's mouth. The whole room was silent when Echo entered, and no one paid him a glance.

Two guards approached Sunny and Cassie, Sunny's face looked grim as he stared down two of the Guards men. One of the guard's men spoke.

"Huh. We were just hoping to introduce ourselves to this little doll, but hey, we can get acquainted with the ugly little clown first. How about it?"

Sunny's face turned even more vile. While Cassie seemed alarmed.

"Why are you…" Before she can continue her sentence, the other one remarked.

"What did you say, clown? Do you know who we are? Fool, we're Gunlaug's men." His hand resting on the pommel of his sword.

The tension was high in the air and right when Sunny could continue speaking, an arm wrapped on one of the guards men.

"Hey friend! No need to escalate it further, this two here are my friends you see." Echo spoke earning the heads of everyone in the dining hall. He added.

"They are close to me so, would you mind? Go along." He unwrapped his arms around the guard and pat one on the back.

The guards looked terrified at this revelation, and immediately sweat started to form on their foreheads. They know Echo, he's one of the most formidable person in Gunlaug's ranks of hunters, maybe only second to Gemma. Even still they tried to regain their composure and said.

"Oh… ah sorry sir." One of them said and hurriedly left the dining hall pulling on the other to go out as well.

"Hey Sunny, hey Cass." He waved while Sunny and Cassie was staring at him.
