Chapter 27 - New Order Came In

The trek back towards the city was long for Loki, as he reaches the gate of the city, he stops to reset himself after his travels. Many thoughts flowing through his mind, before Loki realizes, he reaches the Adventurer's Guild to hand in his quest.

Walking into the adventurer's guild, Loki sees Estrella and excitedly hands in his quest to her, only to be received with a shocked face and Estrella saying while placing the payment of the quest down, "You've returned so quickly, did you fail the quest? There's no way you defeated all of those goblins unless you were level 30+."

"Yeah, I managed something, they were quite difficult in the beginning, but thankfully they were pretty slow and I could use that to my advantage." Responded Loki as he collects his payment from the counter.

+2,000 Gold

'A couple more C-rank quests and I'll be a C-rank adventurer, and it's very lucrative in experience, maybe level 30 is near.' Loki thought to himself as he walked out and decided to allocate his stat points on his way to see Ignatius.

After assigning his stat points, Loki is feeling proud of himself for making as far as he did, hence when he walked into Ignatius's forge, he loudly presents his entrance, "Hey Boss! Guess whose back!?"

Ignatius immediately turns around with a hint of anger and yells back, "Boy! I swear you're going to give me a heart attack, and if I kick the bucket, I'll haunt you forever."

"My bad, ahaha, anyways. How's the shop?" asked Loki.

"Well, it just so happens a new order came in and it's a big one, I am going to need your help. With the recent increased activity from the monsters in the forest nearby, the Lord of Ravenport has requested that we supply the military troops with better weapons and new armor." replied Ignatius as he sets the request form on the table for Loki to look at.

The request says:

Supply the army

- Requesting 150 Uncommon Militia Swords

- Requesting 50 Rare Militia Swords

- Requesting 60 Sets of Armor - Uncommon or Above

Payment: 30,000 gold

"Wow, that is a big request, alright, guess we'll have to get to work then, eh boss?" said Loki.

"That's right, you start with the swords and switch to armor when you want a change of pace, I'll be doing the same." nodded Ignatius.

The duo got started on their smithing, however, due to Loki's low level in the trade, Loki ended up spending 7 hours making only 10 uncommon swords with over 40 being common. That said, his blacksmithing skill is only level 2 and Loki thought to himself, 'Ignatius did say that I should reach a much higher level after this order is complete.'

Calling it a day, Ignatius wanted to start even earlier and when they both woke up, another grind to finish began. Working all day, Ignatius was able to complete about 80 swords, 40 being rare and the rest uncommon, and 5 sets of armor. Loki has made a total of 20 uncommon swords, including yesterday, and 1 armor set.

-Blacksmithing Levelled Up!

-Blacksmithing Levelled Up!

Ignatius heard about the level ups and congratulates Loki, "Nice Loki. Keep pushing, we are almost done, You finish the swords and I'll get started on the armor, we could have this finished tomorrow."

90 uncommon swords to go, as well as 10 rare, and Ignatius working on the remaining 44 sets of armor. Loki realizes that he can't make rare swords yet, however isn't going to give up on them without trying.

The next day, Ignatius is already hard at work by the time Loki gets up and starts his own smithing work. Alongside each other, Ignatius stops every few hours to watch Loki and give him pointers, making his efficiency and ability to create more uncommon swords.

Nearing the end of the day, Loki has officially made 40 uncommon swords and reached blacksmithing level 5. Loki decided he wanted to try making a Rare sword. He asked Ignatius, who just finished his sets of armor, to guide him.

"You wanna make a Rare grade sword? Well, no harm in giving it a shot, however, you'll need your mana and a delicate touch for it. Rare weapons and armor have a degree of magic resistance, and that is done by imbuing our own magic in it to give it the trait of magical." Ignatius said getting ready to make his own swords.

Loki sits there and ponders on how to give a sword the magic trait, he starts to picture mana fusing with the sword along the edges and the middle of the blade. The handle being the conductor to allow mana to flow through the blade.

Ignatius sits there and watches as Loki grabs another ingot to smelt and go through the motions of making the sword, and once the shape has been set Ignatius told him the moment mana was needed and continued to watch as Loki tried to pour his mana through the sword to strengthen it's traits.

However, after about 5 minutes of controlling mana in a sword, Loki starts to get exhausted and slowly you see cracks form in the blade and Loki notices too and gives up, allowing the sword to shatter, sending pieces of metal cross the floor.

Loki takes a huge breath and pouts a little, Ignatius notices it and cheers him up, "Don't worry about it kiddo, the fact that you could take it so far to shatter like that is impressive for a level 5 blacksmith, I don't think anyone could do that until level 15 at least."

Feeling a little better about himself, Loki picks himself up and decides to put rare weapons on hold and let Ignatius finish the rest. After a few more hours, Ignatius finished and put all of the weapons and armors into crates for when the customer comes by to pick them up.

Loki and Ignatius settle down for the day, cleaning up the front, when the doors open and someone walks in. Loki cuts ahead and says, "Sorry, we are clo-"

*bonk* Ignatius hits the top of Loki's head and said, "Don't mind the boy, however it is quite surprising to see the Lord of Ravenport leave his home for an order, or at all, Maverick."
