After a little stroll, William pulled out two soul contracts.
"Here, sign these," he said casually, handing them to Ryan and Emily.
"Hmm, what's this?" Emily asked, as Ryan took his and started reading through it as well.
William watched them as they scanned the document. "It's a soul contract to make sure nothing about my method for upgrading talents can be spoken of to anyone," he explained. "If anyone else tries to force you to talk, the contract will erase those memories automatically."
After a moment of hesitation, they both signed. Though William trusted them completely, he understood the harsh reality of their world—talents were highly coveted, and people would do anything to gain an edge. With the contracts, he could protect them all from unwanted attention.
Ryan glanced up with a smile. "You really thought of everything, huh?"
Emily grinned, rolling her eyes. "Classic William—always two steps ahead."
