"Kate just said something now which startled me," he spoke out. The security chiefs who were wondering what she said to him that made him quickly shut Aaron dead before anything directed their sinister glares towards her.
"Why would you act on what your woman says without asking her for proof?" They complained.
"You might have lost a lot of information now you've let him go."
"Let him go–"
Casmien wasn't done with his statement when Kate broke into the argument. "I have strong proof that Aaron was really lying and not trying to protect the king in any way." She crossed her arms over her chest, jerking her head to the left as she waited for her proof to come out.
"What's really going on?" Casmien couldn't help but ask as he saw someone who looked like Aaron approaching from the same entrance his mate did.
He turned to Francis. "Tell me, you guys are just performing magic here and I'll believe it."
"But you told me he's dead, he drowned and I was here crying to death for him?" Anger began to form in his chest, he returned his eyes to his mate.
"I've gotten all the information from him and trust me, they are all true." Kate jerked her head on Adrian asking him to say what he saw and heard.
"Your majesty, it's true I was bundled up in the tank of water left underneath this palace, there's more mystery than you can discover in a day. I was saved by the culprit himself, he's right here in your palace."
"Who do you mean?"
"What do you mean?" The king was alarmed. He called on Francis to signal more of the SWAT officers to come take guard.
"The main aim is to confuse you, trick you into going down there where you would have gotten assassinated."
Casmien furrowed his brows at Adrian, wondering which to believe now. An idea came to mind. "So why are you here, how did you get up from the drum?" Truly his brain was getting more and more confused, it was as though it would burst into two.
"Tell me!" He screamed hard.
"Francis has a reason for saying I'm dead," he breathed hard, turning to look at Gary and rolled his eyes on him. Francis also gazed at him giving him a disgusting look.
Casmien, seeing this, even began to think that he might have a hand on this, which he'd already begun to suspect.
"We wanted to use the most tactical way to confirm if Gary is part of the plan but sadly he's not. He's just trying out his luck to pull you down in another way."
"Why do you think so, Francis?" He asked him, who had volunteered to answer on behalf of Adrian.
"Being that Adrian is his brother, I thought during my investigation that though they are enemies on the outside, they might really be having a secret plot against you together. It's true Gary hates you." Francis paused to release some breath. His legs were already shaking, knowing what type of person Casmien was. If they didn't explain themselves well, he might label them as suspects and turn to execute them.
"Yes?" He was getting impatient to hear more.
"Supposed Gary had some secret plot with Adrian, he would feel bad when I talked of Adrian's death but as it stood, even under his agony, he grinned so wide, gesturing to his mate."
It was at this point the whole secret got exposed to Casmien. Everything had been like a closed book before now. It was quite obvious this tactic succeeded. Casmien grinned giving thumbs-up to Francis and Adrian.
"Come on, you guys are wise dudes." He hugged them respectively, promising to reward them.
Gary's reaction upon seeing his brother again was more of a terrible one, he held up with a tight, twisted face. On one end, he seemed so angry, on the other, it seemed like someone who wanted to cry. Although he would want to hide it to confuse the king, he couldn't.
The king saw this, confirming that Francis and Adrian are both speaking the truth.
"You wanted your brother dead!" Francis smirked at Gary. He lowered his gaze on the floor, not getting to say anything.
It was discovered that there was a secret tunnel in the palace Casmien's dad never told him about. The old king was into sorcery and seeing that his young son wasn't into this, he decided to keep it a secret for him. Not all the servants knew of this but Aaron in particular was close to the king and knew about this. When the king was about to pass on, he gave him the key to the tunnel strictly warning him not to betray its location to anyone, not even his son.
Recently he began to chat up the current king's cousin, Eric, who was living abroad. Even when he wasn't trying to conspire against the king, he soon fell into the trap as Eric promised to get him into a very high position when he came up as the king. Eric, being so sweet mouthed, ended up enticing Aaron that he now chose him over his real master, Casmien.
For a while, the secret meeting with a few trusted servants of the palace went on underground with Eric flying in each time to attend it. Being a rich man, he had his private jet and didn't need to go through immigration rules. No one knew he was in the country.
The birthday of the king seemed a good opportunity to eliminate him. Killing him would escalate a lot of investigations so Eric actually sent Aaron into stealing the most important documents in Casmien's apartment.
