Stephen and Adriana were classmates in college in a business school in City B. They got into a relationship in their Sophomore year, which lasted till both of them graduated. But when Stephen planned a proposal, Adriana ran away the next day.
Adriana felt scared when she saw Stephen prepare the engagement ring. She was of werewolf descent, and she had a destined mate somewhere. It was not her intention to leave Stephen, but she wanted to think things out. Would it do her good if she rejected her mate and married Stephen, or would it be better to let go of the man she loved?
She felt so confused that she went back to her home in the Imperial Capital without bidding him goodbye. She chose the earliest plane trip, but she was caught in an attack after exiting the airport. Dozens of rogues attacked the closest security base of the Bloodstone pack. She fought hard to survive and lost consciousness when she saw her family members arrive on the scene.
Lucas, on the other hand, was a visitor of the pack at that time. He was visiting the Bloodstone pack because he had an aunt who joined the pack decades ago but never got married. He wanted to accompany his aunt and take care of her for a while. But he was not expecting to find his mate on that same trip.
It was Lucas who claimed that Adriana was his mate when he saw her enter the emergency room for an operation and felt the connection between them. The following week, Adriana woke up feeling that she had lost some of her memories, but her parents had already celebrated the great news of her finding her mate.
The union made Lucas a member of the pack in an instant. But no one asked Adriana how she felt at that time.
Did she even give her genuine heart to Lucas?
Actually, she never did.
The mate's pull was like an invisible magnet, a curse that would make you do things that you never wanted to do. Adriana was bound like a soulless puppet, controlled by threads of fate. Everyone made her accept Lucas, and she slowly became affectionate to him. It is like falling in love with the idea of destined love, but it isn't how you truly feel deep inside.
It took three years to stabilize their relationship.
There was intimacy.
But her heart lacked the burning passion to make someone's heart skip a beat by staring at the right person.
In these three years, kisses and hugs were spent. Lucas asked her if she wanted to spend the night with him many times, but she felt that it wasn't right. On the outside, everyone could see how in love they were, yet Adriana never gave it her all.
The news of Lucas letting another woman touch him made Adriana's inner wolf howl in pain. The mate's pull threatened to drive Adriana crazy, especially when she broke up with him in the end. But something stirred within her, like a calling for escape.
A calling that took her to City A and guided her feet to a place she had never gone before.
When she first met Stephen after years of separation, the desire to possess someone filled her bones with deep cravings. Her blood boiled when she thought of him. Those eyes were like the deepest colors of the ocean, and they let her fall into a dream. And those lips even made her tempted enough to bite a stranger.
"Let's get married when the plane lands."
Stephen's voice would always remind Adriana that she was not so hopeless after all.
"Why do you want to marry me?"
"How can I let go of the woman I dream and miss at night? If I need to buy adhesives and stick you to my body all the time to prevent you from leaving, I gladly will!"
"You love me that much?"
"Honey, you can ask your heart if it echoes mine!"
"But I lost my memories."
"You may have lost all your memories with me, but can you tell me that your heart doesn't race when I do this?"
Stephen suddenly held Adriana's chin and licked her lips like a seductive man teasing his prey.
Adriana's heart trembled.
The journey passed by like a dream to her.
She even got married the day she set foot in City A without hesitance or resistance.
Lying on the bed, Adriana felt her robe loosen. The sweet caress on her skin made her dizzy.
"What are you doing?"
"What do you think I'm doing?"
Hot lips traced the bareness of her shoulders down to her nape. A light moan escaped from her lips. Hands tightly clenched on the white sheets. The temperature of the room suddenly changed. It rose the moment her lips met his.
"You taste so sweet, honey."
"Hmm. Aren't we going to sleep?"
"Sleeping is not an ideal thing to do during the wedding night."
"You..."
Her robe totally fell off when she turned her body towards the man. His hands roamed to places that made Adriana insane. A dangerous moan escaped from her lips when he reached her core.
"Stephen..."
"Yes, honey?"
"Oh, Stephen..."
"Do you like it honey?"
"Hmm. Ah..."
Adriana's hand snaked around Stephen's neck as they kissed hungrily.
"Let me help you remember, honey."
Stephen whispered as he broke the kiss and slowly traced Adriana's body with his tongue. When he reached her core, Adriana couldn't help but shout his name. Flashes of memories slowly emerged in Adriana's mind as the pleasure below her increased.
The creaking bed felt like it would explode at any moment. Adriana was in the cloud of ecstasy as she reached her first release, but Stephen wanted more.
"Honey, you need to remember us completely."
Stephen repositioned them with him on top of Adriana.
"Stephen..."
Adriana could only whisper when she felt his hardness rubbing her.
"I'll be careful, honey."
Stephen slowly thrust within her.
Tears welled in Adriana's eyes, but her body yearned more of him.
"It's been years since then. I've grown bigger and more mature now. I hope I can fill you with all my love, Adriana. You don't know how long I've been waiting for this. For you to come back to me."
