Synopsis
Reboot/Rewrite of Phantom Overlord: Unrivaled Genius Leo Skyfang is a WMR Academy Operator where (W)arriors, (M)agicians, and (R)ogues go to explore more of who they are. WMRs are considered archetypes made up of various traits which define them. Through a lucky chance known as the Yin-Yang Lake, he is unexpectedly blessed with every trait in existence. Whereas others are limited as Warriors, Magicians, or Rogues, he utilizes all of them freely and without restriction. When his secret and juggernaut like combat prowess is finally revealed in an epic clash, very few are able to last more then a few seconds against him. His journey only truly starts when he becomes a exceptional Operator, an ACE that has found their signature and evolved it beyond the extreme. Only an ACE is able to dive into the Yin-Yang Lake and figure out its secrets. How did he become an Operator? Is there anything beyond that? The unique reaction from the Ying-Yang Lake tells him everything he needs to know.

The moon was high in the sky, a brilliant luminance radiating from it that illuminated the entire continental United States of America. A young man, 18, was rushing over to the WMR Academy, short for Warriors, Magicians, and Rogues. His name was Leo Skyfang and he wasn't able to attend the early morning (6 A.M.), morning (9 A.M.), afternoon (2 P.M.), and evening (6 P.M.) sessions. Therefore, he was rushing to attend the late night (10 P.M.) session. Any WMR recruit who failed to attend any session on the first day would lose their position in the academy.

The U.S.A. was the strongest super power. It was oversaturated with operators (basic WMR's). Becoming specialized was a difficult process and turning elite was even more impossible. Operators were WMR recruits who had gone through a rebirth, a transformation of their body. Each change was very specific and known as a trait. Enormous strength, endurance, and high tolerance for pain were traits commonly associated with Warriors. High sensitivity to supernatural phenomenon (the heartbeat of the universe) and ability to convert phenomenon into spells were no brainers for Magicians. Astronomically heightened senses was the hallmark of a Rogue.

It got much more complicated when talking about specialized and elite operators, but that was a distant goal for Leo Skyfang. Right after he signed in and up, he had to sign out an Artificial Suit. It consisted of nano-fiber cells that interlocked with one another, layering and stacking on top of each other to make what was ultimately a human-sized robot or machine.

The Nano-Suit established a physical connection to the supernatural phenomenon and allowed operators to perform superhuman feats. Without the suit, affinity with the heartbeat of the universe dropped to less than 1%.

Leo was required to learn all of this in a short period of time because everything was a test. He also had a secret. A secret that put him above everyone else in the world. It was still a theory that he needed to confirm, but it basically put him on top of everyone else. The rebirth would confirm his theory but he only had five minutes to make it. He luckily finished work early and also happened to be one of the few raffle winners who won a customized Nano-Suit.

The head instructor happened to be on shift right now and because he had a lot of authority, decided that a random raffle would be entertaining. The truth was, and he explained it very openly, that he despised seeing the Very Important People, or V.I.P. groups, getting special treatment.

That's right. Leo was neither rich or poor but he was still grouped into the lowest tier of recruits. Charlie. The academy was funded mostly by the military but had no connections with the military. To be more specific, it was funded by an ex-general who had retired from the army.

To craft his custom Nano-Suit, the head instructor, who had an important relationship with that ex-general, authorized the Yin-Yang lake to be opened. Supposedly, the Yin-Yang lake was powered by legendary and mythical artifacts that had been buried underneath the ground by ancient beings of impossible power.

When Leo Skyfang jumped into the Yin-Yang lake, it felt neither warm, nor hot; cool nor freezing. Room temperature was out of the question either. It felt like he was floating in the empty void. When he looked up, he could see the endless sky above him. The water did not sting his eyes. He could walk into the water as though it was solid ground. There was no resistance as he observed his surroundings.

There were four other recruits in the lake with him, either wearing bikinis or shorts. Two boys and two girls. One buff and bulky as a mountain while the other skinny as a stick. He was somewhere in-between, leaning more on lean, fit, and muscular. Both of the girls were a cliche. Not skinny but slim and fit.

Wait. He was definitely not lean, fit, and muscular. Never had been. Was the pool changing him? He looked at the other four and saw the massive disappointment on their faces.

Leo did not pay attention for long as an ancient voice sounded in his ears. It sounded ancient yet mechanical.

[This might sound overwhelming but bear with me. I have understood your thoughts so let me explain. To get into character]

[Yonder years and countless eons centuries ahead. A mere raffle yet pre-ordained fate. All of this is destined by your awakened bloodline. Of Imperial and Divine nature, the Kings that rule the sea and land and the Gods that have dominion over the sky and endless space. Your journey merely starts an ACE but continues further. Forgotten beings from infinite generations ago, they mastered all 3 paths and beyond]

[I am both a scholar and an ACE from an era lost to time. I hope you can achieve what I could not. Where it ends I actually am unable to see]

The head instructor was looking at him with jaw gaping. His eyes so wide the eyeballs might fall out. Looking down, he found out why. The President of the U.S.A., the Chairman of the Alliance of Ivy League Schools, 5-Star active generals, and other special individuals who held the highest possible titles and positions in their respective Tier 5 classifications were the only ones equipped with a Nano-Suit similar to what he was equipped with.

It was black with red trimming and a faint gold sheen to it. It represented authority, power, and wealth. It was a different model that followed the same design principle. It was not forbidden to build but the materials required to replicate the same effect were exclusively available only to these very same people.

"How the fu—?"

The head instructor was a big man covered in muscles. He wasn't a giant though. Very few things shocked him because he had seen so much traveling the world.

"Can you demonstrate your affinity?"

It took the man a long time before he politely requested Leo to provide an exhibition. Leo got ahead of himself and debated whether he should go all-out or hold back, a lot. He didn't just hear the words but a series of images flashed in his mind as well. He only just started recalling some of them.

Warriors, Magicians, and Rogues could actually have their traits appear in the same body and mix. Strong affinity was required for something called trait addition. It was when two traits were applied to a method at the same time. For example, the parameter 'spread' could be combined with the parameter 'precision' in order to force a destructive spell into a tiny area and then have it explode.

However.

He was different. He was acutely aware of a special trait he picked up in the Yin-Yang lake.

Sequencing.

It allowed him to prioritize trait order. A method could have the parameter 'precision' execute first and then the parameter 'spread' could initialize after 'precision' was done, meaning it reversed back to its original size.

Sequencing was not a Warrior, Magician, or Rogue specific characteristic, but a characteristic that broke logic.

He ultimately decided to hold back because he was unsure of the intentions or motivations of these individuals should they approach him after he went all out. Maybe he would be used. Maybe he would be experimented on. He wanted to be the only one who decided his own journey so he decided to be special but not unique.

The academy's guidebook was a publicly available resource that had around 100 basic methods that ordinary civilians could practice to see if they had any affinity. It was actually a way to placate the population because without Nano-Suits, it was all useless.

Leo picked a method to cast a simple fireball. A vortex of heat and pressure that could explode into flames.

The fireball slammed inside a tiny metal cup 1/4 its size 100 feet in front of him. It then began to spin very rapidly, lowering its center of gravity while leaning and shooting rapid fireballs into other cups around it. They all fell, molten and corroding the stone floor.

"A Double-Archetype Operator! Just a little more and you might even become a Specialist in the future"

The word was familiar with him on two accounts. It was possible to be rare yet still oversatured. It depended on demand vs availability. Normal operators would either be able to slam a fireball into the metal cup or snipe it off the chair. Well, they would barely be able to do that. It would take them 10's of tries. He performed something rather exaggerated on the first attempt without any difficulty.

He could've gone further. It was possible to manipulate the secondary fireballs but that method was too advanced. It could give others the impression that he was unique instead of only being special.

As for the phrase 'finding your identity', this was mentioned but not expanded upon in the guidebook. Every specialized operator had a signature method or application that was impossible to imitate. This signature was their specialty and was the first step toward a long journey to becoming an elite.

The problem was that signatures were nearly impossible to innovate, hence why elite operators were rarely seen. However, he had another unique trait that was more like a calculating error.

Undefined.

He didn't know what it meant or what it did. Just that it was a trait like Sequencing. The only thing he knew was that Undefined had a passive tag, meaning it was always on. Sequencing similarly had an active tag.
