Chapter 1 - Like The Flower

Amidst the intimate murmurs and hushed laughter that swirled through the dimly lit room, Lily Sinclaire was the enchantress orchestrating this symphony of the night. She greeted the patrons perched on the worn barstools with a warm, inviting smile, her eyes dancing with a playful spark.

"Another round of Elixir Dreams, folks?" Her voice, a sensuous melody, caressed the ears of the eager crowd. The anticipation hung in the air as she met their gazes, her tone laced with just a hint of mischief.

A man in his mid-40s leaned in, his eyes filled with amusement as he interrupted the flirtatious banter. "Stop flirting with these boys, Lily. They might spend their entire salary just to see you."

Lily's laughter was a sultry purr. "That's fine by me. I'll get a lot of tips from these boys."

She leaned closer to the polished wooden counter, her fingers tracing the condensation on a chilled glass, leaving an electrifying trail in her wake.

But it wasn't long before Lily's enchantment was broken by her fellow bartender, Amelia. With a knowing smile, she couldn't help but tease Lily, "Boys, your eyes might get stuck on it."

Laughter rippled through the group of patrons, their fascination not lost on anyone in the room.

"We might've stared for too long," a man in blue admitted, his eyes still locked on Lily, his safety helmet giving away his daytime occupation as a construction worker.

As Lily gracefully moved to fetch a couple of beers, she left a trail of appreciative glances in her wake, her hips swaying to an irresistible rhythm.

"Boys, your eyes. It works better than a glue." Amelia interrupted their collective reverie, playfully wiping away the drools of those captivated watchers.

A man from the second floor decided to join in the playful banter, shouting, "I'll get eight for me and the gang!" The sudden interruption sent the room into uproarious laughter.

Lily couldn't help but giggle, the sound like a secret promise amidst the seductive chaos of Elixir Dreams. The night was alive, desire hung in the air, and in this alluring realm, passion was the only currency that truly mattered.

A hushed murmur rippled through the crowd as patrons eagerly lined up, their anticipation palpable. They weren't queuing for just any bartender; they were waiting for the enchantress of libations, the Goddess of Drinks herself, Lily.

Lily's Point of View

As I stepped behind the bar counter, my heart raced with the relentless rhythm of the night at Elixir Dreams. The patrons had been piling in ever since my shift began three hours ago, and there was no sign of the line dwindling. If this kept up, Elixir Dreams might need to consider adding a fourth floor to accommodate the never-ending throng.

In the midst of this whirlwind, I made my way to the back to retrieve refills for the colas, the clinking of glasses and the murmurs of the crowd fading as I moved farther from the action. And then, amidst the cacophony of desire and laughter, I heard them – the unmistakable sound of familiar footsteps.

"Stop deluding yourself, Lily. They're piling up because of me, not you." Thea's voice sliced through the air, like a sharp blade of ice. She was, without a doubt, the last person I wanted to work with tonight. The woman had a talent for getting under my skin, and she knew it. She clucked her tongue with a maddening air of disapproval, as if she had just caught me in some unforgivable act.

I turned to face her, my jaw set with an effort to maintain my composure. "I am not deluding myself, Thea. Maybe you should try saying that to the mirror sometime." My words were cool, deliberate, each one a barb of frustration held just beneath the surface. As much as I loathed Thea, I couldn't let her antics affect my service to the customers.

A sly, knowing smile curved on Thea's lips, her eyes glittering with mischief. "Do not make me grab that wig of yours, Lily," she taunted, her voice dripping with venom. "You may be a senior bartender here, but that doesn't give you the right to disrespect someone who is older than you."

"First of all, Thea, this wavy brown hair you're seeing," I paused, held my hair before continuing, "This ain't a wig. A natural hair. I bet you couldn't identify what is real and what is a wig. Your hair's a bit dehydrated, too much rebond maybe?" I gave her a smirk before dopping the case of cola.

"Second, ugly bitch. I am fucking tired so don't try to ruin this good fucking evening or I might shove the can opener on your shitty mouth, bet you just shove a customers cock on those mouth of yours, but even so, I bet you can't give a proper blowjob." I said, surprising her with the facts I knwo about her.

"Third and maybe not the last, fuck that age bullshit. Just because you're born a year earlier than me doesn't give you the right to talk about 'respect here, respect there' bullshit, 'cause that BS won't work on me. Now, I better go. I have patrons to serve. You can go back to your daily blowing job."

I gave her a smirk before turning around. I made sure my voice to be loud enough to let the customers smoking outside hear our conversation ,maybe they'll be interested in her side hustle.

"One more round over here, please!" echoed the lively voices from the upper levels.

"Coming right up!" Lily couldn't help but appreciate the spirited ambiance created by her patrons.

As the clock struck 3 in the morning, the last of the revelers bid their goodbyes.

"What a bustling night, Lily," exclaimed Nico. He was a charismatic, dark-skinned man in his early thirties, a regular presence at Elixir Dreams.

"Yeah, managed to keep up with the demand, cleared two refills. Thought our beers might start flowing over. We ran out before 1," Lily chuckled.

Her radiant smile prompted a smirk from Nico. In the nearly two years Lily had worked at Elixir Dreams, Nico had harbored a subtle crush on her.

He was still hesitant to confess his feelings, reluctant to gamble with what they already shared.

"I'm heading home now, Paul. I think I did great tonight. Can I skip helping with the closing?" Lily inquired.

"I'll handle the closing, Lily. Go and get some rest. You've got office duties at 10 o'clock," Paul replied.

Lily beamed eagerly at Nico, swiftly grabbed her purse, and made her exit from the vibrant atmosphere of Elixir Dreams.
