[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]
Third Person POV
Hogwarts.
...
...
It was Saturday as Snape received his new batch of books and even picked up new ingredients, while he kept studying on the weekend instead of going to Hogsmeade like all the other students.
Snape had Atlas to accompany him; he spent the entire Saturday like this, until he went to dinner in the common room, heading straight for the professors' area, approaching Slughorn.
"Professor, could you get those ingredients this weekend that I asked for earlier this week?" Snape said.
His words had drawn the attention of the other professors, but no one commented anything, waiting for the potions professor to respond. "Yes, Mr. Snape. You can meet with me tomorrow. Moreover, I had a friend who really liked the result of your potion after seeing the one you sold; he wasn't interested before, but liked what he saw and you can bring another one of those potions tomorrow," the professor spoke with a tone of pride, as Snape nodded.
'This is good, my potions are starting to gain some customers...' he murmured internally and turned back to the professor.
"Will do... and..." Snape turned back to the headmaster, "Headmaster Dumbledore, I will need some things from our agreement next week..." he spoke to the headmaster as he looked at him like a hawk since he approached, a quite normal behavior he had towards Snape.
"We can talk about this in my office," he requested in a gentle tone, something Snape did not trust much, but he nodded in the end.
"Alright, I will come by tomorrow before dinner," he spoke while Snape nodded, returning to the Slytherin table, as he sat down for dinner.
He saw Clarisse, who maintained a somewhat distant look or even stared at him a few times. She still hadn't spoken to him since the newspaper incident, but once his name appeared in yesterday's newspaper as the Slytherin humiliating James Potter in their first duel, it must be why Minerva had been looking at him with fire in her eyes since yesterday and with her eyes almost burning.
Even Lucinda and Clarisse were mentioned in this newspaper due to their duel, it was a strange situation, not that Snape cared about it, but it was annoying the looks people had on him.
Snape left the common room as soon as he had dinner and went back to finish the potions he was working on. The next day, he went to see the potions professor, entering the room in the middle of the morning.
"Snape!" Slughorn greeted him while he was in his office, the professor was alone, reading books and some reports from some sixth-year students.
"Hello Professor Slughorn, I'm here to pick up the ingredients I mentioned yesterday and to give you the potion you requested," Snape spoke calmly as he approached.
"That's great. I've left it there, stored in that box on the side," he pointed and Snape also took out a box from his bag and handed it to the professor, being a potion for baldness he had created weeks ago.
"Very well, boy. My friend was so excited about the result that he even paid in advance, so here is the money," he spoke while the professor handed over the money bag with gold Galleons.
Snape nodded and took the box, pleased to have this money in advance. After all, he would need it next week. "Professor, I would like you to ask your friends not to disclose my name, at least not yet," Snape requested.
Slughorn looked at him, standing up seriously, "I am already requesting that from them, in fact they don't even know your name, after all we are not in easy times, having a lot of notoriety is certainly something bad," he spoke.
Snape thanked him and left the room after talking a bit more with the professor about some things beyond the discussed matters.
Snape continued going to the forbidden section to study a bit more along with the books he had received from the Muggle world. At the end of the day, he decided to go to the main tower, where the headmaster's office was located. Arriving at the gargoyle, which was the entrance, the door quickly opened as he approached, perhaps that phoenix had warned him.
Snape entered and saw all those portraits looking at him again as he climbed the stairs and entered the place. Many still remembered the boy who had confronted the headmaster almost four weeks ago, but none spoke or commented on it as Snape approached the man sitting at the main table next to the phoenix, looking at him after putting down his book.
"Mr. Snape, it's good to see you here," Headmaster Dumbledore greeted calmly with a smile and a loving grandfatherly tone.
Snape wasted no time and went straight to the point. "Headmaster, I am here to talk about a possible leave from school so I can return to England," Snape said as the headmaster looked curious.
"When do you wish to leave the school?" he asked, remembering the agreement they had during their first meeting after Snape returned.
"I need to go to Diagon Alley to sort some things out, and I also want to visit my old house," Snape said as the headmaster seemed thoughtful about this but eventually nodded.
"Very well, you may go..." he said, and Snape, wanting to end this quickly, began to turn around to leave.
"Goodbye, headmaster..." he said, but the old man's voice echoed in the room again.
"Mr. Snape, do you have a minute?" the headmaster called him once more, and with a sigh, Snape turned his gaze as if asking what he wanted now.
"How are your studies going? You know that magic is something I always have a desire to learn, and even at this age, I believe I will die without even scratching the surface of new spell possibilities. Your work on spatial magic fascinates me greatly; how is your progress in that area?" he asked with a curious look.
"I am learning, headmaster. It is a very complex subject, and I do not believe that just the books in the forbidden section can provide all the knowledge I seek..." Snape said, seeing nothing wrong in answering like this.
"I may have heard that you are seeking Muggle books... This is certainly very surprising, after all, not even students born to non-magical parents do that... especially someone from a house like Slytherin..." he said with the same curious tone but maintaining a curious tone at the end.
'Heard... This old man must surely be spying on me somehow...' Snape thought as he looked at the phoenix, which had been watching him curiously since he arrived.
"I am not even close to scratching this type of magic yet, headmaster... But I am starting to make some progress with Muggle knowledge and calculations..." Snape replied.
"Interesting... I also heard about your relationship with Lily not going very well..." He didn't finish his questions, entering a strange subject. After all, he still wanted to bring Lily and Snape closer again, but it seemed that Snape didn't want to talk to the girl anymore.
"Our relationship ended more than a year ago, headmaster. There is no reason for either of us to be surprised by the fact that we don't talk these days..." Snape said dryly.
"I know, but I was certainly surprised by it. I heard she tried to talk to you again," he said, seeming to insist on it. "And I believe she still wants to, perhaps you will talk with lighter spirits..." The headmaster was still trying to convince Snape regarding Lily.
Snape looked at him, wondering why this old man was so concerned with the relationship of fifth-year students. "It's all right, headmaster. We are where we should be; nothing will change..." Snape said dryly. "Now, if you will excuse me," he said, already leaving, but the headmaster called him once more.
"If you can, I would like to ask a few more questions. It is that I am concerned, my boy. The things that happened in the Forbidden Forest many weeks ago were quite worrying, as there was an animal of Hagrid's that entered the same area as you... It was killed, it seems... He has been very sad these weeks because of it," the headmaster said, but looked at Snape like a hawk, after all, the witch of the forest had spoken of Snape and a magical animal escaping from her, but he hadn't asked this question expecting to see Snape with that animal, but everything seemed ordinary.
Snape had to think for a bit, connecting the dots, realizing that this must be the reason Hagrid seemed to be mourning in the past few weeks, and even the centaur mentioned it. He even considered the possibility of returning it, but Atlas did not seem too keen on going back to that former owner.
Snape just shrugged, without responding as the headmaster watched for a while, before continuing with another subject. "I understand..." he said, although knowing that Snape had much more information, but this boy always put him in a difficult position when he pressed him. "I've also heard about your excellent performance in spell classes and with an explosive duel. You are certainly far ahead of your peers. I've heard from your teachers, that they are even considering moving you to the seventh year as soon as they start implementing duels in class. I've also heard that you dodge spells by just moving your body, something quite uncommon for a wizard," he spoke with a calmer tone.
'Certainly, facing the seventh year would be more challenging than the fifth,' Snape thought, even though it might seem arrogant, after all, he was liking the idea. "I wouldn't deny it if I were invited to that, and well, I have learned many skills, Headmaster..." he said and raised an eyebrow at the old man. "May I go now?" His tone was quite ironic, after all, he was getting quite irritated with these constant questions.
"Alright, you may go," the headmaster dismissed him, as he already had no more topics to discuss with the boy. Snape then headed to his dormitory, since he would start the next month of classes from tomorrow, while the heads of the four houses would certainly talk to Dumbledore about something respectful Snape said or even curious questions about the Slytherin boy.
Meanwhile, in a place in England, more specifically in a mansion in London, a woman wearing a completely black dress, with a quite conservative design, was drinking tea in the garden of her house alone. She had cold eyes while a house-elf appeared beside her, looking at her fearfully.
"Lady Rosier..." the elf spoke with a fear clearly evident in her cautious voice, while her clothes were all tattered.
"What do you want, Disgusting?" the woman spoke with a severe tone, she did not curse at the elf, but rather called her by the name she had given. As she glared at the elf, disrupting her leisure moment as a pure-blood witch from a great family, Disgusting shrank.
"This letter arrived from Hogwarts, Lady Rosier..." she spoke, showing the letter to her mistress while trembling, as she was used to being severely punished by this woman just for her amusement.
"Let's see this. I hope it's news from my son," she spoke as she opened the letter. It wasn't a letter from her son, but from someone else, although it was exactly about Adrian Rosier.
"Is this true?" she suddenly growled, looking at the content while the elf began to tremble, thinking she might be punished just for a letter her mistress was reading.
"A half-blood dares to beat my dear Adrian...?!" She closed the letter and looked with a serious and severe tone. "Severus Snape... You will pay for what you've done... half-blood..." That name came out of her mouth like venom. She did not know this student, but certainly did not appreciate the humiliation her son suffered at school because of a half-blood like this stranger. They were a family that supported Voldemort in purifying the magical world, it was unacceptable to see something like this happening to her favorite son, even if she had to contact the Death Eaters.
