Chapter 81 - Chapter 81: The Prototype

Yuriko and Lois were on top of the Humvee strapping the machine down. "I think it needs a bit more rope here," Lois said.

"Okay, catch," Yuriko replied as she threw some rope up at Lois. Lois caught it and strapped it down. She tied a knot.

"I think it's all done now," Lois replied as she jumped down.

"I don't feel much different after drinking it," Yuriko remarked.

"The effects are passive, when we need them they will be there," Lois replied.

Yuriko nodded. "I do trust James," Yuriko replied. She added, "Despite only knowing him for a few hours."

Lois giggled. "I know what you mean, the first time I met him, we did it, 10 minutes later," Lois replied.

"Really?" Yuriko replied. "Tell me more," Yuriko said. She looked interested in hearing the gossip.

As Lois was about to respond, they heard the sound of wheels being moved. They looked to see Saeko, Rei, Jasmine and Saya pushing a lawn mower. James and Shizuka were right behind them. James was carrying the Turbine.

Lois and Yuriko approached the group and James. "The machine has been secured," Yuriko reported.

"Thank you both," James replied.

Lois and Yuriko looked at what the girls had. "Why do you lawn mower?" Yuriko asked.

"Are we going to need to do some gardening?" Lois asked. She had a cheeky smile on her face.

James smiled. "It's not just a lawn mower," James replied. He paused and added, "It's a turret. Once you pair with the Turbine or a power source, it activates and shoots nearby zombies." James explained.

"That sounds powerful," Lois replied.

"We can use it to set a perimeter when we sleep," Yuriko replied. James thought that was a good idea, actually. He looked around and saw Rei, Saya, and Jasmine looking tired. Saeko looked eager to kill. Shizuka was Shizuka. He could see on Lois and Yuriko's face, they were also beginning to tire out. They needed some rest.

"Yuriko, I know in your cop days, you used a pistol mainly," James said.

"I had," Yuriko replied.

James handed her the Jackal. "This is for you," James offered. Yuriko took the Jackal. She could feel it was heavy. It had the words "Heaven" written on it.

"Where did you get this?" Yuriko asked.

"The fridge," Shizuka replied as she jumped into the air. Rei and Jasmine giggled.

"That is an interesting place," Saeko replied.

She looked at the gun. "Jackal," she muttered. She thought this was special. She held the gun with both her hands, close to her chest.

"I will treasure this," Yuriko said. She was touched by the gift. She beamed. "Two gifts in one day. I feel spoiled," she teased.

"I have not started to spoil you," James remarked.

"I can be a pricey woman," Yuriko flirted back.

Saya rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. "Could you two stop flirting," she commented.

"Is my daughter worried, her old mum might steal her boyfriend," Yuriko teased. Rei giggled. She knew Yuriko was pulling Saya`s leg.

"You are not old, you are a milf, you could pass as her older sister," James stated. Yuriko smiled back. He is a flirt, no wonder he has so many women.

Lois smirked. "I feel a bit jealous, of not getting a gift," Lois replied.

"Me too," Shizuka said, wailing her hands.

James laughed. "Don't worry. I'll get something nice for everyone," he stated. "Maybe a ring," he added. The girls all blushed. They thought ring, meaning engagement, wedding, kids.

"Speaking of which, where are the EMP grenades?" James asked.

Yuriko pointed towards the Humvee. "They're in there," Yuriko replied.

They opened the door and checked the pouch where they found ten EMP grenades. James thought it had increased. He knew Lois was nearby so the perk was affecting it. James handed one to each of them. "Take one each. You never know when it might come in handy," James stated.

Everyone took a grenade, examining it curiously.

"These could really save us in a pinch," Rei said, attaching hers to her belt.

"How does this work?" Jasmine asked.

"Rika said something about pulling a pin," Shizuka replied as she put it in pocket.

Saya attached it to her belt. "I am not sure where this would be useful but we will take your word for it," Saya replied.

Saeko gripped hers tightly. "Thank you Danna-sam," Saeko replied.

They all loaded the Turret in the back of the Humvee. The space now left was pretty much gone and everything was stacked on top of each other. Lois and Rei used rope to strap everything down.

"It looks like a mess," Saeko said.

"It looks okay," Shizuka replied as she looked with sparkling eyes. She was seeing art.

"The suspension looks fine," Saya noted as she examined the wheel.

"I never knew you had an interest in cars," James remarked.

"I don't, I just know things," Saya proudly replied. She had a smile on her face.

"We should move out," James said. They all nodded.

In the background they heard the sound of the bus horn. "Now arriving at Groom Lake. Last call for Groom lake." was heard from the bus.

"Groom Lake?" Jasmine asked.

"It is a place in America, near Area 51, where there is a military base," James replied. He wondered why Ted said that.

The bus started to move. "Looks like it's time to go," James said.

Yuriko gave Saya a playful shove towards the bike. "You ride with James," she said.

Saya hesitated, blushing. "I... I don't want to," she replied weakly.

"Come on, Saya," Yuriko insisted, winking. "Don't be shy otherwise you will miss your chance, there is a line of women who will get on," Yuriko added.

Saya knew, Rei and Saeko would immediately say yes. She could not let that happen. "I will," she shouted. James was getting on the bike when Saya climbed onto the bike behind James.

"I wanted a turn," Shizuka pouted.

"Next time," Lois said.

"Fine," Shizuka replied, getting in the humvee.

"She was in a hurry," Rei remarked. Saeko giggled.

"Okay, hold on tight," James said.

Saya held his waist. As they drove off, James couldn't help but notice the soft pressure of her breasts against his back. Another blessed girl on his bike, he thought.

"Hold on tight," he said, trying to keep his focus on the road.

The rest of the group piled into the Humvee and followed closely behind. The convoy moved steadily through the fog.

James followed the bus. He saw there was a corn field to his left and right. It was pretty dark so it was hard to see. He could see the tail lights of the bus. The road was cracked and filled with potholes. James carefully navigated through this. He kept going until he saw a pile of burning cars. The cars had their windows destroyed and tires gone. The bus went past the vehicles.

James turned back and signaled to follow. "We are taking a short detour, away from the bus path," James said.

"Why?" Saya asked.

"There are some parts which are not on the route and we have to explore ourselves," James replied.

"Okay," Saya responded as she held his waist. She felt his back. It was strong and nice.

James turned from the road and down the cornfield path. He accelerated. Shizuka followed suit. She pressed the accelerator down and followed behind. The path got narrower. The side of the Humvee hit the corn. They went flying over the bumper.

"Hold on tight," Lois said.

James went through the cornfield and got to the end where he saw an old abandoned facility. It was made out of solid brick blocks. All the windows were gone. There were two entrances. The building had two floors. It looked like the building was built over 100 years ago and forgotten. There were cracks in the concrete.

"What is this?" Saya asked.

"Nacht Der Untoten," Ben replied.
