"I've got an urgent matter to deal with, so I won't be able to take you out for dinner tonight. Can we reschedule for another day?"
After exiting the ring road expressway, Chu Nan first took a detour to park the car near Hong Xiaochen's place.
"It's fine, go be with your girlfriend! I'm just a violent dumb girl who's always been at odds with you. I'm not qualified to dine with you, let alone steal your girlfriend's thunder."
Hearing a female voice on the phone, Hong Xiaochen couldn't quite catch what was said and felt a tinge of sourness.
"Uh, it's not like that, I really do have something to deal with."
Chu Nan was slightly taken aback—this did not seem like Hong Xiaochen's character at all! It seemed that work issues had really taken a toll on her.
But Chu Nan couldn't really explain, for fear that Hong Xiaochen would go and investigate on her own if she found out!
