Lunch break had arrived, and Zhang Li went home to eat lunch. The bookstore had a two-hour lunch break, and since Zhang Li's home was nearby, she had plenty of time. Tang Su went to the coffee shop to treat the employees to lunch.
The coffee shop had four employees: two waiters and two baristas.
Tang Su could also brew coffee; she would take a shift when they needed a break.
Sun Qing often chided her, "You're the owner, can't you hire a couple more people?"
Tang Su's reply was that you only understand the difficulties of being an owner after becoming one; you need to save on expenses. Besides, hiring someone isn't as simple as just moving your lips and saying 'please'. It takes money to hire someone.
"Miss Tang." The two waitresses greeted Tang Su warmly as they saw her.
"Hello, everyone. You haven't had lunch yet, right? I'm going to order takeout. Let me know what you want to eat."
"Alright, then we won't be shy."
All four of them began to list their orders.
Tang Su's coffee shop had the highest customer flow on the weekends, so none of the four could have their days off on those two days. If there was really something important, they had to ask for leave in advance. After Tang Su arranged things at the bookstore, she would come over to cover shifts.
If she couldn't manage it, she would have Sun Qing come and help.
She generally covered the meals for both days on weekends.
It was an extra perk as compensation for the four employees, after all, while everyone else was out having fun on the weekends, they were forced to work in the coffee shop.
After ordering the takeout, the wind chime at the door of the coffee shop rang: another customer had arrived.
As Tang Su looked up to greet the customer, the smile she managed to muster froze instantly when she saw it was Ye Sichen coming in.
"Boss..." Good.
The staff's unified greeting turned mute at the sight of Ye Sichen.
At that moment, the sound of a new order notification kept coming from the shop—"You have a new order."
Seeing that Tang Su was ignoring him, Ye Sichen walked straight up to her and questioned, "How long do you plan on sulking like this?"
His question irritated Tang Su; she found it amusing, "Mr. Ye, do you still believe to this day that I am just sulking with you?"
"Fine, keep sulking if you want, but I've come today to ask you something."
"What is it?"
"I heard you forgave the owner of the dog that killed Tiantian, is that so?"
"Yes, he paid for the vaccinations and even brought me a basket of fruit. Do you want that basket of fruit?" Tang Su nodded in affirmation.
"You forgave him just like that?" Ye Sichen could hardly believe it.
The thought that she forgave someone whose large dog had bitten her, leaving two bloody holes, without asking for any compensation beyond the vaccine money made him incredulous.
He had only slapped her, causing her face to swell a bit without any break in the skin or blood, yet she not only called the police but also asked him for fifty thousand yuan.
If the police hadn't called to ask if he considered reconciling with the other party, stating that his girlfriend had accepted the apology, he wouldn't have made this trip.
Helpless, he had been blocked by Tang Su and to this day hadn't been unblocked, unable to contact her through the phone.
"Or what? Should I hold a grudge and then bring the dog over for me to take a couple of bites out of it?" Tang Su asked sarcastically with a cold laugh.
"Besides, the other party was quite reasonable, much more than some people."
"Tang Su, what do you mean by that? Are you saying I'm unreasonable?"
"What do you think? Mr. Ye, this is a business, and I need to make a living. If you're not here to buy coffee, I'm under no obligation to entertain you."
"I'll buy."
Ye Sichen signaled a waiter to order a cup of coffee, stating he would drink it in the shop.
