"Many of those who can mingle with Lu Xiu are from wealthy backgrounds, sons and daughters of affluent families who lead extravagant lives with ample funds at their disposal, unable to comprehend why anyone would work late into the night for a meager sum of money.
After a minor interlude, the atmosphere in the private room remained tense for several seconds before resuming its lively state. A group of people sat around a table, surrounded by an array of liquor bottles, the dim lighting making it difficult to discern their colors.
Jiang Yuanzhou spun a bottle of dark green liquor with his slender fingers, accompanied by the cacophony of music and the clinking of glasses against the table.
One spin, two spins...
All eyes focused on the bottle.
Jiang Yuanzhou applauded, a smile evident on his face. "Well, Ah Xiu, luck isn't on your side today. The first spin landed on you."
Song Yuncheng rubbed his chin and spoke up. "Truth or dare? Forget it, you should go with dare. Truth is boring."
Lu Xiu chuckled, lifting his eyelids slightly and tapping his fingertips lightly on the table. "As you wish."
After receiving the challenge, they whispered amongst themselves, their voices drowned out by the music. This was a rare opportunity; although rumors circulated about Young Master Lu, no substantial evidence had ever been obtained.
This time, they hit the jackpot.
Jiang Yuanzhou rubbed his hands together and pondered for a moment. "Call your ex-girlfriend and tell her you miss her. I'll go easy on you. That shouldn't be too difficult for you, right?"
Lu Xiu furrowed his brows slightly, falling silent. Seeing his hesitation, Jiang Yuanzhou asked, somewhat astonished, "Really? Can't you just make a call to your ex-girlfriend? Is it that hard?"
Everyone waited for Lu Xiu's response. After a few seconds, amidst their scrutiny, he took out his phone. The screen illuminated brightly, and the observant ones noticed that he opened the chat with the ex-girlfriend, which was pinned at the top.
"Oh, oh, oh, Ah Xiu, I meant your ex-girlfriend, not your current one. Who said it had to be her?" Jiang Yuanzhou noticed his actions. Setting her chat as a priority must mean their relationship was quite special.
"Why can't I set my ex-girlfriend's chat as a priority? Who made that rule?" Lu Xiu's tone was somewhat displeased, and upon hearing his words, they couldn't believe it. Even an ordinary person wouldn't prioritize their ex-girlfriend's chat, let alone Young Master Lu. Did he still harbor feelings for his ex?
This answer was quickly rejected. Who was Lu Xiu? Was he lacking in women?
"Alright then, put it on speaker so we can listen in."
Lu Xiu's slender fingers gripped the phone, his gaze softened. He dialed Su Qing's number, uncertain if she would answer.
The spotlight fell on his face, casting a beautiful arc. The wait felt long and agonizing.
*Ding* - the call connected. Everyone fell silent.
A soft, tender voice came from the other end. "What's up?"
They exchanged glances, indicating this was getting interesting. So, Young Master Lu had this side to him.
Lu Xiu, however, seemed unconcerned with the looks of others, casually twirling the car keys in his hand. His voice, slightly husky from alcohol, replied, "Just calling to check on you."
Su Qing could hear the noise in the background, likely deducing his whereabouts. She didn't take his words seriously and threatened, "If you have nothing important to say, I'm hanging up."
The room held its breath. Who had the audacity to speak to Lu Xiu like that? Seemed someone was quite bold.
But Lu Xiu seemed in good spirits, his expression now much better than before, impossible to decipher his mood.
He flicked a speck of lint off his clothes lazily and continued, "Just wanted to let you know... I miss you." He repeated after a moment, "I miss you so much."
His voice was deep and clear, transmitting through the phone to Su Qing's side. Her heart skipped a beat, unsure how to describe her current feelings.
She bit her lip, fingers curled on the table, emotions swirling like a pool of water. A frost formed outside, her expression vacant and ethereal. It felt like an eternity had passed before she managed to respond with a warning, "Lu Xiu!"
Lu Xiu blinked, then immediately changed his tone. "I mean it."
His tone was sincere, even his close friends found it unbelievable.
*Click* - the call ended from the other side. Lu Xiu hesitated for a second, then smirked, placing the phone back in his pocket. "Did I see that right? Ah Xiu actually had a woman hang up on him. I'd love to meet her." Jiang Yuanzhou joked, clinking his glass.
"What acting skills! I almost believed you were serious," Song Yuncheng chimed in.
"Does it sound like I'm lying?" Lu Xiu retorted.
Jiang Yuanzhou almost spit out his drink. Could it be her? So many years had passed, it shouldn't be.
He knew Lu Xiu had a girlfriend in high school, a sweet girl with fair skin. Even now, he could recall her appearance. Later, for some reason, they broke up, and during that time, Lu Xiu drowned himself in alcohol, spending every day in bars.
Afterward, he went abroad. Although they kept in touch, Lu Xiu never mentioned anything about relationships.
Not many people knew about this. He had numerous scandals, so naturally, people assumed he had moved on.
"Is it really her? Ah Xiu, let me give you some advice. There are plenty of women out there. Look around; how many want to climb into your bed? Don't tie yourself down to one tree," Jiang Yuanzhou received a signal from Song Yuncheng and quickly realized what he meant.
But Lu Xiu remained unconvinced, lounging in the sofa with his designer clothes. "What can I do? I can't get rid of her in this lifetime."
The people in the room exchanged glances, uncertain who Lu Xiu was referring to, but they hadn't expected Young Master Lu to be such a romantic.
They dared not ask further; after all, they had heard plenty about that man's exploits.
Jiang Yuanzhou patted his shoulder, understanding his plight. "What are you thinking now? Are you planning to pursue her again?"
"Otherwise?"
"Ah, it's truly bizarre. There's actually someone you can't win over. It's strange indeed. But in these years you've been abroad, haven't you contacted each other?"
"She blocked me a long time ago."
Song Yuncheng almost cursed. He hadn't met that girl, but Jiang Yuanzhou had mentioned her before. Back then, he didn't believe Lu Xiu treated her so well; he thought it was just a fling.
