Last Night
In the middle of the night, a young beautiful white-haired woman was laying in bed.
But there was a problem.
"Jen?"
[Yes princess?]
"I can't sleep"
The young woman, Melanie Asato-Romanoff, couldn't sleep after arriving back from her trip to a certain someone's hometown.
[...]
"Why aren't you replying Jen?"
[I'm busy]
"With?"
[My web novel]
Despite feeling drained from the long travel between Earth and Mars, Melanie's mind refuses to sleep.
Why?
"I've been thinking....", Melanie started to ramble despite Jen saying she was busy with her side job.
"....I should just ignore that prick and those bitches. Let my anger wither away and move on with my life. Find someone who'll treat me like a queen too. Of course, I'll do the same and treat my partner like a king"
[sigh....Mel you've said this for the 100th time since Dean's grandmother's funeral. Just go upstairs and ring his doorbell]
"It's improper of me to barge in especially when he's feeling down about his recent loss. It'll feel like I'm taking advantage of him"
[Oh so you're finally admitting it], Jen finally appeared next to Melanie, interested in materials for her web novel while also being proud of her friend of 4 years being interested in another man after the nasty break-up with Mark.
Jen's appearance was what early 21st century society would label as a goth girl. Her attire was all black with chains and leather in various places, she wore a skirt along with a t-shirt and black leather boots to complement her set. Jen had various jewelry on her from necklaces to earrings and even a skull hair pin. She had a cute face with black eyes and raven black hair tied in loose pigtail style. Overall her appearance was the complete opposite of a certain pink onesie wearing girl.
"Hey I take offense to that." Melanie looked at her only friend of the past 4 years since she blocked and avoided all of her former close friends when they started going out with her ex-fiancé.
"I just wasn't sure if my feelings of four-eyes was romantic or platonic, but..."
[But?], Jen was increasingly focused on the subject even sitting on her knees staring intensely at Kat.
"...seeing his sad expression during culinary club then his empty look at the funeral confirmed it.....mostly", said Melanie remembering the scene and feeling similar emotions back when she was in a committed relationship.
Jen immediately started typing into a floating keyboard turning Melanie's emotions into Jen's masterpiece of a web novel.
[You know....you missed a lot of opportunities to get to know Dean personally instead of stalking him]
"Not stalking, spying, Jen and I admit I am at fault", Melanie admitted remembering the mistakes she made with her past prejudice against Dean, and her past relationship with Mark as much as she hated to admit it but there were faults from her side too though compared to Mark's infidelity they paled in comparison.
Regardless she started to recall some of their private conversations.
'I love you Melanie'
'I love me too'
'...'
Her eyebrows furrowed deeply while cringing a little on the inside, 'Let's tone down the narcissism next time'.
Then her mind wandered off to their argument that started the downfall to their engagement.

After turning down Dean's friend request, Melanie and Mark walked back to their apartments though specifically Mark's place.
Melanie had a smug face after witnessing that peasant boy getting rejected but she was a little concerned since Mark has a little quirk that she's known when they met and were engaged since they were six.
"Umm...Mark you don't have to listen to your father and even grandfather. You're allowed to be friends with guys you know."
"Mel, I trust and love you very much, but my dad said 'Being friends with guys is gay', so I'll trust his judgement"
"Mark", Melanie looked at Mark in the eyes as she had a serious expression with her violet eyes almost glowing, "For one, it's not homosexual for wanting to be in a platonic friendship with the same sex, and it's really weird you still think that, no, it's embarrassing as it affects my and your reputation. Two, you shouldn't listen to everything your father says as it's more important to have multiple connections in high society and befriending people of various background is one of them."
"My dad is one of the wisest people I know", Mark countered but Melanie went on a stronger offense.
"Your father is a misogynistic asshole who's married to dozens of women. The only reason he pays attention to you is because you're one of the few sons that were produced. Your sisters are treated like strangers and your mothers are just playthings in your household."
Melanie let out some of her pent up emotions from the past 10 years of being engaged. She loves Mark but hates his household as all of the women of his family are treated as lesser compared to the men. Unlike her household who treats everyone equally....if they deserve the respect and attention that is.
"Say. that. again", Mark growled as he used his gravity manipulation unknowingly causing Melanie to feel as if her body weighed twice as much.
Of course with superhuman strength, Melanie maintained eye contact with her eyes glowing violet as she stood her ground...barely, "Mark control yourself or you'll feel my wrath...my family's wrath even." She used a bit of her power but mostly her family's status as one of the pillars of the UHA to get through Mark.
Mark widen his eyes realizing his mistake, "Sorry I lost control...it won't happen again", and immediately apologized forgetting about their brief argument entirely.
Melanie sighed and starting walking out of his apartment then turned her head slightly, "You are forgiven, but refrain from ever letting your emotions get to you and...reconsider basing your beliefs on your father's words", she coldly said as she walked out the door.

'Should've known then that...'
"....fucking daddy's boy would keep on listening to his sperm donor and FUCK ALL OF MY FRIENDS BEHIND MY BACK", Melanie screamed out in the end as her memories drifted from their first real argument to the scene of-
[Cool it princess, you almost set your bed on fire], Jen nonchalantly said as she continued typing away.
She brushed that scene away quickly as her emotions almost got the upper hand.
"sigh....I'm feeling hungry now", Melanie said as she thought about cooking a late night snack after getting temporarily heated.

A/N: Hopefully no harem enjoyers were offended as I intended to bring Melanie's perspective. Also her POV should be about 2 or 3 more chapters.
