Chapter 4 - First Kill

**First kill**

Ethan stood frozen as his mother approached him, abruptly turning him around and delivering a sharp slap across his face.

"What in the world is going on with you? You've been acting so strangely since you woke up this morning. Please, don't listen to that woman; she's not well, and you should stay away from her," his mother scolded, her voice tinged with worry.

Speechless and bewildered, Ethan found himself unable to tear his gaze away from the mysterious woman with the unsettling expression. A surge of unexplained anger brewed within him, compelling him to silence her eerie presence.

Taking his hand, his mother guided him towards the church, but a growing sense of unease washed over Ethan, threatening to overwhelm him. Just as he was about to take a seat inside, a sharp pain pierced through him, driving him to flee outside.

Gasping for breath, he struggled to make sense of the bewildering turn of events.

"It seems you're not feeling well," a voice remarked.

Startled, Ethan turned to find Lucifer standing before him, his intense gaze fixed upon Ethan. Drawing closer, Lucifer spoke softly.

"What is happening to me? Why does my heart burn as though on the verge of collapse?"

Lucifer's smile widened as he moved closer, his words laden with ominous intent.

"What delusion led you to believe you could step foot into God's sanctuary? You now belong to me, embraced by darkness. Only places devoid of holiness are within your reach."

Ethan stared in disbelief, grappling with the chilling reality that he was prohibited from entering the sacred space.

"Ethan," a voice called out behind him. Turning, he saw a girl approaching, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the encroaching shadows that enveloped him.

"Hey, I didn't expect to see you at church today. And who's this? Is he your uncle? You never mentioned you had such a handsome uncle."

Ethan was taken aback, unsure of who this girl was, what to say, and why she was smiling at him.

"Are you okay? You're looking at me like we've never met. It's me, Lora. Remember helping you on Friday when you were stuck in the school basement by the football team?"

Ethan's confusion deepened. Why was he in a basement, and what football team? He nodded at the girl, who simply smiled and then turned to Lucifer.

"Nice to meet you, sir. I'm Lora, and Ethan here is my friend."

Lucifer smiled as he shook her hand, leaving Ethan bewildered.

"Please, call me Lucifer."

Perplexed, she asked, "As in the devil?"

Lucifer confirmed, and they shared a laugh.

"Ethan, come on, let's go inside together. Is your family here? I think I saw your dad's car. And what about Lia, your sister? Is she here too?"

Ethan remained silent, grappling with the events and feeling utterly bewildered.

"Are you alright?" Lora inquired, reaching out to him. Startled, he recoiled and dashed away, feeling like he was losing his grip on reality and not knowing where to turn.

"Do you still doubt that what you see is real? You are the antichrist, destined to bring about evil."

Ethan stood his ground, facing Lucifer with a simmering anger within him.

"I am not the antichrist. I strive to do good, to be good. Why do you seek to torment me and drive me to madness? Are you pleased with causing my suffering?"

Lucifer advanced, his hands gripping Ethan's neck as he fixed him with his dark gaze.

"I am your master, and your task is to find the child of God and end her. You belong to the shadows, not the light. I cannot carry out this mission myself. Do not dare to defy me."

Releasing his hold, Lucifer left Ethan gasping for air, bewildered and lost. He wandered aimlessly, eventually stumbling into a tunnel, where he sank to the ground, trembling with fear.

Soon, he heard a woman's voice in prayer and cautiously approached her. As their eyes met, she recoiled in terror.

"Stay back, spawn of the devil! You shall not bring ruin upon humanity. I banish you, foul entity!"

Ethan gazed at her, a strange sensation stirring within him. The longer he looked, the more a dark urge grew, tempting him towards malevolence.

He took a step forward as she moved back, a smile creeping across his face. Drawing near, he effortlessly lifted her with one hand, his voice taking on a sinister, chilling tone.

"Now, where is your God? Call upon him to deliver you."

With a swift motion, he snapped the lady's neck and let her lifeless body fall to the ground. As he gazed at the grim result of his actions, a sense of fear washed over him, causing him to retreat.

"What have I wrought?" he murmured, his voice quivering with unease as he sank to the floor, trembling.

"Well, that was quite the performance. This is the fate that befalls those who seek to spread goodness and holiness on this earth. They perish, abandoned by their God. You cannot escape your destiny, my boy. Embrace the darkness, for evil revels in victory," a voice taunted.

Ethan collapsed in despair, torn by uncertainty. Perhaps this time, he thought, he would surrender to his fate and embrace his role as the devil's antichrist.

He rose slowly, feeling as though no one could save him now. He was consumed by darkness, and the more he struggled to escape it, the closer it seemed to draw him in.

Turning around, he began the journey back home, burdened by the weight of a life taken for the first time. Guilt gnawed at him as he walked, a heavy reminder of the mother he had ended.

Emerging from the tunnel, he sought refuge where no one could spot him, consumed by the bleak thought that perhaps there was no redemption left. Maybe the world was truly nearing its end.

Perhaps it was time for him to embrace his identity as the antichrist, forsaking his ties to God.
