"Tell me? What do you see with those evil eyes of yours? Love? Anxiety? Stress? I've never told you about my Psychic trait before right? I'm an Empath. I cannot just feel but control emotions. I used this ability on myself to trick what your eyes showed you, which is the caring grandfather which you know today."
The Kyubi took one step closer towards Hoshiko, but a barrier suddenly blocked it. It was part of the sealing powers of the Bishamon.
"Ahh, you wait there. Let me at least finish monologing. I still haven't told this girl the whole story."
Hoshiko fell to her knee's as she felt how alone she was in this situation. She thought about escaping, but if she moved an inch then the Kyubi behind her would instantly bite her head off.
"How should I begin? The ancestors of my family were blessed by the divine god of protection, Bishamon. It gave us the ability to forge barriers and seals with divine energy. A good 200 years ago we were actually on very bad terms with the Inari clan, and a war fought in the shadows of Japan broke out."
As he spoke, Hoshiko's evil eyes saw no lies in his words. Or maybe this was too was the truth that Kotsuki wanted her to believe. She didn't know anymore.
"100 years ago, a strange prophet came to our clan. They promised immortality, and a great power not for them, but for their descendants. They weren't interested at first, but he also offered them a solution to end the 100 year feud with the Inari clan. Fearing the prophet leaving them for the enemy, my ancestors listened to him. Somehow, with some method, that prophet put a curse on the Inari clans leader at the time. During that age, its members born with the fox Shikigami, were it's leaders so this dealt a huge blow to them. The fox Shikigami in the Inari leader mutated, and devoured its host from the inside out. Eventually it became violent as it ravaged the lands across japan. That fox Shikigami, is the Kyubi which stands behind you now."
Hoshiko then realised, the prophet which cursed her ancestor was likely the same one which created the prophecy.
"Blessings aren't just the power of gods, but gods themselves. When a blessing is given to a human, the god cuts of a small fragment of its self, and sends it to earth from the higher realm. The curse which was put on your ancestor, threw that god fragment into a frenzy, causing it to act independently of it's owner. To stop it, the power of another God was necessary. I'm sure you can see where this is going?"
From there it was easy to piece together. Kotsuki's ancestors worked together with the Inari clan to seal the Kyubi under the mountain. But that also meant...
"Every time an Inari clan leader was fed to the Kyubi, it had the opposite effect of the Kyubi getting stronger. As it reunited with split off goddess fragments, it grew more powerful, eventually approaching the status of a God. Somehow that prophet convinced the Inari clan to sacrifice it's leaders using that prophecy, which I guess did have some truth. Once the Kyubi grows it's ninth tail, it will gain power rivaling a god. I'll use my own blessing to seal the Kyubi within myself as well as take control of its powers. THE AMOUNT OF POWER I'LL GAIN WILL BE IMMEASURABLE! I'LL BECOME A GOD, UNBOUND BY THE LAWS OF NATURE! A TRANSCENDENT BEING EQUAL TO NONE!"
As he imagined the amount of power he would gain, Hoshiko's evil eye's revealed even more of Kotsuki's true nature. The mask which he had been wearing all along had finally peeled away, revealing the filth underneath.
Hoshiko cried as her tears hit the floor. Then suddenly she remembered Shiro.
She felt a sudden burst of strength as the power of the fox Shikigami swelled inside of her. She became more feral as she sprinted past Kotsuki, but then her body suddenly halted.
"Where do you think your going? My divine power can easily stop the movements of a small cub like you."
The barrier which blocked the Kyubi disappeared, allowing to it finally eat it's last fragments inside of Hoshiko.
With the last of her strength, Hoshiko extended her hand and cried out for Shiro... but there was nothing.
Instead heavy footsteps walked down the stairs as Mr. Repent emerged instead, surprising Kotsuki greatly.
"What are you doing?! I told you to wait upstairs?? The only reason I brought you in the first place, is because S.N.A.D were being stupidly insistent...?"
He finally noticed the blood stains which covered the bottom of Mr. Repents guitar. He had brutally killed his own band members.
Realising that he was an enemy, Kotsuki tried to freeze him place with his blessing, but even more quickly, Mr. Repent pulled out a strange cube.
"What? My power isn't working?? DEVOUR HIM KYUBI!"
The Kybui was instead, frozen in place.
Mr. Repent smiled, exposing his yellow teeth.
"This is an artifact called the void cube. On blessing users like you, it can erase the effects of divine power, but on that giant fox over there it can only paralyze it for a short moment. Since this place is also the centre of that barrier on the outside, I'm sure it will collapse too."
Kotsuki ran up to Mr. Repent in an attempt to fight him physically, but a single hit from the guitar was enough to put him down.
"Why... WHY? WHY ARE YOU INTERFERING??"
Hoshiko using her eyes, could see the Kotsuki was drowning in despair, but Mr. Repent appeared to be relishing in the moment.
"WHY ARE YOU REJECTING THE BIRTH RIGHT MY ANCESTORS WORKED FOR? WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?!"
Mr. Repent bashed his guitar into Kotsuki's skull, breaking some of his teeth and his nose.
"I'M A FUCKING ROCKSTAR!! I'm going to not just feed this girl, but you as well to that giant fox. When it does that, it will absorb not just the fragments of the Inari, but also the Bishamon."
The paralysis on the Kyubi finally ended, allowing it to first consume Kotsuki. As it used it's tongue to pick up Hoshiko's grandfather, he screamed,
"WAIT- DON'T LEAVE ME! PLEASE! THIS IS MY BIRTH RIGHT GODDAMMIT! YOU STUPID BITCH OF A GRANDDAUGHTER!"
The Kyubi swallowed Kotsuki without even needing to chew on him. His flesh and bones were easily melted down to nothing, not even his psychic power could save him.
As it absorbed the power from Kotsuki's blessing, strange tattoo marks of a god not belonging to Inari spread all over it. It started to grow in size, while also developing a ninth tail.
It grew so much that it reached the limits of the cave, but even then it kept growing.
Hoshiko witnessing the nightmare before her, trembled in despair. It was the end for her as she knew it. Before it could grow too large and crush her, the Kyubi tried to devour her quickly.
Hoshiko froze out of fear, accepting there was nothing she could do, she braced herself to reunite with her mother.
Instead of feeling the coldness of death, she felt the warmth of a man take hold of her.
"I came to save you! Let's get out of here quickly."
Upon seeing Shiro's face, she had no words that could express how happy she felt.
