"A-Atticus!!!"
Miriam sputtered, her mind racing with all kinds of possibilities that arose from this unideal circumstance. "Please help me get out of here!"
Outside the room, Atticus slouched against the wall, a barely concealed grin splitting his face. Unseen by Miriam, pure joy and schadenfreude danced in his eyes.
"I don't know what I can do, frankly," he drawled, a hint of mockery lacing his words. "This is not my laboratory after all. This is yours."
"I... It's an exact copy of your own in the States!" Miriam cried out. "Even the security designs are identical. Please, Atticus, do something!"
A chilling laughter emanated from outside the room.
"So you finally admitted it," he said. "You thief."
Miriam's blood ran cold in her veins in the face of the accusation. "I didn't steal anything from you!"
