Chapter 30 - Fire On Fire, Would Normally Kill Us

[KIYOMI]

"Kiki—" Elif called out, hoping to stop her friend from burning down the club and ruining a lot of people's day and that too on a Monday morning. This was an expensive state, and Elif wanted to make sure there would not be any casualties.

"Thought you wanted me gone, Petal?" the familiar voice said and Kiyomi stopped in her tracks as she looked at the person before her. Elif on the other hand was staring with her jaw on the floor as she took in whatever was happening.

"What did you just say?" Kiyomi voiced out, the irritation in her voice clear as she struggled to come to terms with her reality. She had let herself consume a lot of drugs even on the dancefloor and frankly, she was certain she would lose her mind like this.

It wasn't the best of things she had ever thought of and it scared her, yet at the same time, she wanted to scream at the world and everyone in the club with her. She had managed to make a fool of herself and now she wasn't sure what she needed to do.

"What's wrong with you? Is your name Petal?" the woman asked as she looked at Kiyomi, making Kiyomi facepalm. This wasn't what she had come to do here and it took every ounce of her sanity to keep herself intact.

"Jen… don't. It's obvious she has some issues. Come let's get out of here and find another club before this one burns it down," a woman suddenly reached out to the woman who was ready to clobber Kiyomi's face.

"What the hell are you all looking at!!" Kiyomi cried out frustratedly as she slumped on the floor.

She didn't mind that it was sticky with drinks that had been spilled and bubblegum on the floor. The only thing that mattered was that she had successfully made a fool of herself for the hundredth time in two months.

She always hoped that Sakura would come for her, and she had heard the people talk about Sakura and Otaru earlier. Turns out it was all just in her imagination and her best friend didn't even know what was happening to her.

What the fuck was she supposed to do?

"Kiki, come, we need to get out of here before the police come. You know it'll be a problem if you're on the internet. I'll have to deal with the photos and videos, but please... let's just go home, please," Elif pleaded.

She was tired of the morning already. She was sick of the shell her best friend had turned into and she despised the fact that Kiyomi was becoming more broken by the day.

Anyone who looked at the good doctor would assume that she had everything anyone would want, when in reality, Kiyomi had been happier before she had interacted with Sakura.

Now all she could think of was the woman who would probably never show up right in front of her. It was eating her up, and making her feel like an extreme fuck-up.

This wasn't how her life was meant to be, but what else was there for the girl who yearned for so much and still got nothing in the process?

"Does that even matter anymore, Elif? She doesn't want me. She hates me, that's why she hasn't shown up until now. I did everything to get her attention. I became a shell of what I used to be because of her and she never once showed up.

"What else am I supposed to do?" Kiyomi cried out in frustration. There had been a lot of things on her mind and each time she would always end up thinking about Sakura Watanabe.

The Lycan queen had come into her life like a wrecking ball and changed everything for her. When the hospital announced the disappearance of the elite specialists in the meetings, Kiyomi felt the guilt ram her up.

She wanted to say that they had died because of her and that the doctors had been buried in some penthouse but then she hadn't been able to. She knew they would point fingers at Sakura and she didn't want that.

So, she watched as they concluded that the specialists crashed in an air accident and their bodies were being processed. Their screams always filled her head, and with Sakura not around to make her feel like it wasn't her fault, Kiyomi felt like she was going nuts.

Perhaps it was the only thing she was good at. There were days when she considered going back home to the Lycan kingdom but she knew that she would die before she stepped in.

The Bogdan Lycans were mercenaries who never let go of their prey. They may have stepped back because of the queen, but that didn't mean that they had forgotten that Kiyomi was a death they had to make a reality.

This was insanity at best, but wasn't that what a lot of things had been for Kiki lately?

"You don't know that, Kiki. Maybe she's just busy. Maybe she will show up. You said she was a queen, perhaps she will find her way to you or send someone to come get you to her. Don't give up just yet," Elif said even though her words sounded foreign to her.

She thought this was just her trying to give Kiyomi false hope but what else was she supposed to do when her best friend was already out here crying like the world was on steroids for her?

"She should have come, Elif. I called for her, for months. I have been beating myself up for her, trying to figure out what the fuck I did, and yet she never once showed up. What else am I supposed to do?

"I don't want her gone, yet I feel like I never had her in the first place, like I was just truly a pawn for her. Who's to tell she isn't busy with some other contracts? Hell, I was stupid for thinking she would choose me because I was her erasthai, fuck," Kiyomi mumbled lowly, and soft gasps were heard in the club.

She hadn't realized that most of the people had not left yet, and she had just spilled the one thing that could either get her into trouble or even worse trouble. The Lycans hated the Lycan queen.

They despised her in ways that hell wasn't even braced for yet. They had always wanted to figure out a way to bring her down, but they never really could because at the end of the day, the queen never had a weakness.

In the Lycan world, the erasthai was the one person who could be used to get to the other, and with Kiyomi mumbling that dumbly in a club that had so many Lycans, she had set herself up for failure.

"Kiki, you'll be fine. If she doesn't want to come for you, we will just have to find other ways to—" Elif stated, before she realized that there was a crowd forming around them like they were suddenly the prey.

"Well, well, well. Finally, a way to make that bitch Sakura feel all the pain we have always felt!!!" one Lycan said and that was all it took for a wasted Kiyomi to create a portal and take Elif out of the club.
