Chapter 62 - 50. Ghost of the Past

Mist-Shrouded Isle

Shrouded in mist all year long, the island has one village and very few inhabitants. In the past, Tramont shared some contact with neighboring islands. However, it became completely closed off with the arrival of the mist several decades ago.

Rei and the others curious about the primal beast's power that Rei and Lyria could sense, decided to investigate the island to find the reason why it was shrouded in mist and why its inhabitants could not die.

On the island, Rei met a ghost girl named Ferry who explained what had happened and asked for help to free the island from the mist and the primal beast.

Rei and the others agreed to help Ferry. After some investigation, Djeeta and the others discovered that it was the work of a doctor who had sacrificed many villagers to summon Celeste.

A primal beast appearing as a ghastly, spectral airship surrounded by purple fog and illuminated by ghostly red lights. Celeste has control over death, allowing it to forcibly prevent death from occurring.

The doctor's reason for summoning Celeste was to experiment in order to control it, but unfortunately, a primal beast is not easily controlled by an ordinary human.

In the end, Celeste absorbed and killed the doctor.

Now, Rei and Celeste were facing each other while staring at each other.

"Celeste?" I called her because she had been standing in front of me without doing anything.

Celeste remained silent, not answering me at all, which left me confused. But before I could call her again, I saw her smile.

Soon after, Celeste started moving her left hand and lifted it towards me. Without realizing it, my left hand also started moving, mirroring her actions.

I saw my left hand enveloped in Celeste's purple mist, which she used to guide my movements.

Since I didn't sense any malicious intent from her, I let her continue until our palms touched each other.

So cold... I could feel Celeste's icy touch, and soon after, I felt my power being slightly drained by her.

Celeste only absorbed a little of my power, as if she was confirming something. Once she seemed satisfied, she released my hand.

The purple mist disappeared from my arm. "Master Astral..." Celeste murmured, and I could see her purple eyes glowing from beneath the cloth covering them.

"Hey Rei, what's happening?" I heard Katalina ask from behind me.

"I suspected as much..." Rosetta muttered as she observed her fellow primal beast's reaction.

Celeste then walked closer towards me. Once she is right in front of me, she used both of her hands to touch my cheeks and kissed me.

"What!?" Djeeta and Lyria turned pale after seeing that.

"My my~" Narmaya said while covering her mouth with her hand.

"Uwa uwaaa!!!?" Ferry's face turned bright red, having never seen anything like this except in the fairy tales she read.

I might enjoying the kiss if i can but the problem is that Celeste isn't just kissing me she is transferring all her power to me.

I feel the same sensation as when Tiamat and the others do the same thing to help me control my power.

So at this moment I'm focusing on receiving the power Celeste is giving me...

After a while, Celeste starts to look transparent and finally she breaks the kiss.

I can see the string of saliva connecting us as Celeste pulls away.

Celeste gazes at me and soon the cloth covering her eyes disappears revealing her purple eyes that staring into mine.

I can only smile and say, "Thank you, Celeste."

Celeste nods while returning my smile then closes her eyes and transforms into a purple and black orb of light.

The orb moves into my body, and I can feel Celeste inside me...

I immediately sense Celeste's power flowing through me, feeling like I can do everything she can do.

Not long after, the remaining mist that covering the island starts moving quickly getting sucked into my body.

"Whoa!!" Vyrn tries to hold onto Io to keep him from getting blown away by the strong wind.

"Kyaaaaa Vyrn, don't pull my hair!!" Io yells at Vyrn.

Rosetta uses her primal beast power to summon plant roots holding Djeeta and the others so they won't be blown away by the wind.

All the mist continues to be rapidly absorbed into my body until the island is completely clear without any mist left...

I look at my hands that now covered with hthe mist and easily dispel it returning to normal.

I take a deep breath and retract my wings...

With Celeste inside me, it means I now have all the main elemental Primal Beasts in the game:

Tiamat representing Wind,

Colossus representing Fire,

Yggdrasil representing Earth,

Leviathan representing Water,

Luminiera representing Light,

And finally, Celeste representing Darkness.

Not gonna lie, but I didn't expect to become this strong during arc 1 of the story. However, I know this is not enough for the Otherworldly being we are going to fight in arc 3...

I still need much more power...

"Is it... all over now?" I heard Ferry's voice from behind me pulling me out of my thoughts.

I turned around and looked at Ferry. "Yes... It's all over. I've absorbed Celeste's power."

The others then approached me while looking around. "It seems like we didn't do much this time," Katalina said.

"I don't mind at all because I don't want to fight a Primal Beast like that again—no matter how many times we defeated her, she always came back!" Io said while kicking the small stones beneath her.

"Hey, look over there," Djeeta said, pointing in a direction that made all of us turn to see where she was pointing.

With all the mist that had covered the island now gone, I could see the small village from here but I noticed that it was filled with a white light.

"What is that light?" Lyria asked, confused by the sight, but she soon realized its source and turned to look at Ferry.

We all turned to look at Ferry and saw that her body is also enveloped in the same white light. "Ferry..." Lyria looked sad, knowing this is a farewell.

"Well... I guess it's my turn soon," Ferry said while staring at her hands which were glowing with light.

I could easily see that Ferry is really sad now but she hid it with a fake smile.

"Yeah... It was nice meeting you, Ferry," Katalina said with a smile.

"We were together only a short time, but everyone helped me so much. I don't know how I'm supposed to thank you but..." Ferry said while placing both hands on her chest.

"I never imagined that at the end of my life I would experience something like this... Having friends to talk to, reconciling with the villagers, and meeting people I used to know...

I thought I would be stuck in that mansion forever.... But unfortunately, we have to part here. If we should meet again decades or centuries from now, I'd love to hear of all your adventures." Ferry ended her speech with a smile to us.

Ferry's body became more transparent, and she didn't have much time left. "Okay..." Lyria and Io said, holding back their tears and returning Ferry's smile.

They all didn't want their final farewell to be filled with tears and wanted it to be filled with smiles, even if those smiles were fake.

"And Rei... It's a shame I can't keep your promise, but if we meet again I hope you won't forget your promise to pat my head again," Ferry said to me, tears streaming down her face.

I stood in silence while listening to Ferry's words while also speaking with Celeste to find a solution.

"Will it work?" I asked Celeste who is inside my body.

"Rei?" The others looked confused when they heard me talking because they knew I wasn't speaking to Ferry.

"Rei is talking with Celeste," Lyria informed them, as she could also hear my conversation with Celeste.

"Talking? What are they talking about?" Katalina asked Lyria while watching me.

"Fufufu~ You'll find out soon," Rosetta replied with a small laugh.

"Alright then, let's do this Celeste," I murmured then walking towards Ferry, whose body is now very transparent.

The others watched me with curiosity, wondering what I was about to do, but I remained focused because this would be my first time using a primal beast's power in this way.

I looked at Ferry, who was staring at me in confusion with tears still streaming down her face. "If you want me to keep my promise, then you need to live to receive it Ferry," I said, smiling at her.

I then raised my right hand and directed it toward her body. "Celeste Grace Ater."

After saying that, my right hand is immediately enveloped in mist, forming a purple glove adorned with accessories like purple crystals.

With the glove, I touch Ferry's body and channel Celeste's power into her. "Mist's Vivification." The purple crystal shines brightly, transferring its energy to Ferry.

Ferry's body is surrounded by a purple light, causing Djeeta and the others to close their eyes due to the brightness.

I struggle to control the power flowing into Ferry because if I give her too much, her body won't be able to handle it and might explode.

Soon, Ferry begins to lose consciousness and faints towards me. I catch her and still continuing to channel Celeste's power into her.

"Whoa!? Ferry, are you alright!?" Vyrn flies closer to Ferry in my arms but because of the glowing light they can't see her condition clearly.

"She's fine. Her body just needs time to adjust to the power flowing through it," I reassure them. The light around Ferry's body gradually dims and eventually disappears.

Ferry's body returns to normal, no longer transparent as before. I can even feel warmth in her body now, unlike when she was still a ghost and felt cold.
