Chapter 1 - Plans for the future

"Any... any last words?" A man was pointing a gun at a woman, tears forming in the corners of his eyes as he forced those words out.

His bows were tightly knotted together, and his eyes narrowed as if he were holding back tears.

The years they spent without realizing she was the tratior.

"I wish we had crossed paths sooner." With a gentle gaze, she simply smiled.

Gritting his teeth, he closed his eyes just in time to fire the bullet.

"No!!!" A young man holding a large tissue box was watching this scene in front of him, tears running down his cheeks.

He gave his pillow a tight hug while sniffing.

"Why won't she just share her side?! They are the real villains! Come on!!" The young man let all of his emotions out on the projection screen, but the episode kept on playing without pausing.

With tears in his eyes, he sniffed and said, "My favorite side couple, gone just like that." The ship hadn't sailed for long..."

He blew his nose while weeping and silently watched the episode finish.

'Ah, they did not keep their promises to see the moon fairies or build the house in the woods together... ahh my heart...'

This young man's name is Voye Sal, and he recently turned twenty. He was studying at a top university.

Being a transfer student, he does not have many friends because most other students already have their own social circles.

He also gave off the impression of being cold and uncaring, but in reality...

'Their fanarts are so good...' He sniffed while admiring the artwork on his panel screen.

Voye was actually a very sensitive person; he was just usually unconcerned about other people, focusing solely on the class assignment or simply watching TV.

Ding!

A notification appeared

[ Class announcement: Students, congratulations on completing your final examination! You will receive your results next month; in the meantime, you can start deciding whether you want to continue and get a higher level certificate or enter the workforce -]

Voye stopped reading when he realized there was still a long paragraph ahead.

He sighed, 'What do I do next? Get a job or get a higher cert?'

Voye turned off the projection screen, and his room became brighter again.

His room was small, with only a table, a chair, and a bed, as well as boxes underneath his bed. He did not own any physical books because they were quite expensive; he could not afford such a hobby.

Despite the small size of the room, Voye was grateful because he did not have any roommates.

Voye collapsed on his bed and gazed up at the ceiling.

He received a full scholarship for his university, allowing him to save some money by working part-time. This savings could help him temporarily, perhaps for a month or two, if he decides to find work.

He closed his eyes as he sighed.

Ding!

He opened his eyes and saw another notification.

[ Class PC2034G ChatGroup(No lecturers!) ]

[ Unsaved Number A: Why do we have a graduation ceremony before we even get our result? ]

[ Unsaved Number B: They planning to kick us out no matter if we failed or pass ]

[ Unsaved Number A: I should've just partied hard instead of keep grinding. So does @everyone want to have a proper graduation party instead of the one the school planned? ]

Countless students agreed, and Voye simply watched their messages. He had never spoken in this group chat before; he had only joined to stay up to date on any important announcements or events on campus.

'I should leave the chat after graduating... if I plan to go to the workforce.' Voye sighed once more as he closed his panel and eyes.

Ding!

'I'm in a bad mood today! Why is so many people texting?!' Voye snapped his eyes open, staring at whoever texted him this time.

[ ThatPsyco: Yoo smart S you down for some coffee? my treat? ]

Voye sighed with a small smile, 'He always seemed to know when I was in a bad mood.'

Voye sat up, responding.

[ Me: Same place? ]

[ ThatPsyco: Gasp! you replied so quick! met with some academic problems? ]

[ Me: Stop being dramatic, where are we meeting? ]

[ ThatPsyco: Same bus stop, there's another coffee store few hours away that's quite new. ]

[ Me: Few hours?! ]

[ ThatPsyco: We should celebrate you graduating! ]

Voye raised his brow, "How did he know?"

Voye agreed, sighing again, and pulled out the box from beneath his bed.

The box was where Voye kept his clothes.

Voye exited the chat app and checked the weather while choosing his outfit.

He finally decided to wear a simple shirt with a windbreaker and scarf, as well as his sweatpants and shoes.

Voye had an ordinary appearance, with jet black hair and dark brown eyes. If there was anything worth noting, it was that he could not hide his emotions well. He thus has a tendency to cover his face with a scarf whenever the weather permits.

'When it gets colder two months later, I have a good reason to wrap my face with a scarf.' Voye smiled as he thought of this.

As a result, winter was his favourite season.

Voye made it out of university while avoiding as many people as possible; it was a unique skill he developed that he took pride in.

Memorising where the crowd was and where it was quieter.

He soon found his friend waiting at the bus stop.

His friend's gaze was bright, in contrast to his tired eyes.

When his friend noticed Voye, he waved aggressively.

Voye smiled and started jogging forward.

"What's up bro!" His friend extended a hand, Voye grabbed it, and his friend pulled him into a hug.

Pulling apart, his friend looked at Voye with a concerned expression, "You look more like a zombie every time I see you."

"I crave coffee, not brain." Voye responded, "Besides, who would want to eat your brain?" His friend raised his fist and knocked Kraz's head.

"My brain is better than your rotting caffeinated brain."

Clyde Dav is one of his friends. His hair was black with a fade mullet style, and he wore brown contact lenses in his eyes. He dressed similarly to Voye, wearing a windbreaker with the same design as him and sweatpants. On the back of his windbreaker, there's a black and white design of a pile of soil with a hand sticking out.

He was Voye's childhood friend, and the two of them overcame numerous adversities together to get to where they are today.

Clyde was now an intern at a police station thanks to his foresight.

Voye asked, "Where's the cafe?"

"This place has many good job opportunities for tech genius like you..." Clyde dragged out his words, leaving Voye guessing.

Voye's eyes widened slightly as he looked at Clyde. Clyde grinned wider as he recognized Kraz's expression.

He went on, "I have a senior who has received information on a cheap apartment for sale. I looked around but did not think it would be suitable for my needs. It might work for you, though."

"Are you shifting your career to be a property agent?" Voye looked at Clyde skeptically.

Clyde pinched his chin, "Perhaps I should..."

There was a place that many graduates from this university went to for job opportunities, and that place was the capital city.

The city where was rumoured to never sleep.

The two conversations were paused when the bus arrived.

The bus had no wheels; instead, there were two medium-sized holes at the bottom with a mechanism that kept it hovering.

The door opened, and steps unfolded.

Voye looked up at the stairs, where Clyde was the first to climb.

Voye lowered his head, thinking: "This will be my first visit to the capital. I wonder what's it like...There is not much time left before I have to leave the university; it is a good idea to start planning for the future."

He took a deep breath and got on the bus.
