Zoe Dawson took her by the hand and led her in front of a mirror.
Ava Sterling was startled by the reflection of the woman in the mirror, her complexion pallid and drained of color. "Is that really me?" she questioned, disbelief in her voice.
"What else would it be?" Zoe Dawson raised an eyebrow slightly, sighing with a mix of frustration and resignation. "I know the competition is important, but you can't keep pushing yourself like this. Didn't I hear you were busy until midnight last night before you finally left?"
Ava Sterling shook her head, her voice barely a whisper, "Last night, I didn't leave."
"And the night before? Did you go home then?" Zoe Dawson had been preoccupied lately, engrossed in conversations with a computer genius, hardly seen after work hours. She was oblivious to Ava's predicament until coworkers brought it to her attention.
