Chapter 70 - The Bargin and the Deal

Everyone was in a panic. Guns drawn and all aimed at Brandon besides Mr.Nakayama and Miyuki.

"WOAH WOAH! EVERYONE FREEZE! NO ONE SHOOT!" Mr.Nakayama shouted as all the Japanese and American officers had their weapons pointed at Brandon, sometimes point to each other. "BRANDON HAVE YOU COMPLETELY LOST YOUR GODDAMN MIND!?" Mr.Miyuki shouted at him with his hands up.

"No, just thinking about how exactly this is going to go." Brandon said as he continued to point the gun at Philies. "You looking to die Wright? Cause I'm not going to stop you. This charade isn't going to prove jack to anyone." Philies said.

"You don't give a damn about this case Wheels. Not really." Brandon said as Philies and him stared each other down, the tension was high. Everyones hands on the trigger. Read for any sign, even a flinch.

"Heh, you think you know everything huh Brandon? Feel like just because you brought down a old department filled with some bad apples, means you must know how everyone is wired huh?" Philies said. Brandon stayed focused on him as Philies walked a few paces closer.

"I bet you think you're holding some good cards don't you? That this is all just a storm under your control. But it isn't Brandon, not anymore. This isn't your ship anymore.

The case is ours. Accept it. Move on. Maybe go back to whatever sewer you live in now and stay there this time." Philies said. "You have the case huh? Is that right?" Brandon said with a stern look. His gun firmly still pointed at Philies.

"Go ahead Wright. Pull that trigger, but know this. Just cause I'm gone, doesn't change a thing.

The case will still be ours and you'll be behind bars again. Just like you should be." Philies said. Brandon stared at him. "Brandon...easy...just put it down." Mr.Miyuki said. Mr.Nakayama looked at both Brandon and Philies.

"So go ahead and be the hero. Pull the trigger." Philies said. "..."

Brandon needed an ace, a trump card to use. But thats when a thought came to his head.

"Heh, you want me to shoot you huh? Now it sounds like as if you believe you have all the cards.

Think you have control of this storm? You have no idea." Brandon said. Philies just stared at him.

"We have the case files, we have the suspect Eiji. Theres nothing you have that we don't."Philies said. Brandon knew that very well. He had case...no, thats when Brandon remembered. That what they had, was old information.

The current news, such as Kat being involved and Himmy no doubt also being involved. They had the foundation, yet they had none of the tools to build off of it.

"What exactly do you plan to do Wheels? I'm curious. You can't honestly believe that just standing around and tweedeling your thumbs will do you any good.

You don't have half of the information that I have." Brandon said. Philies looked at him with a mean scowl. "I don't know what sort of game you're playing here Wright but it's not going to work.

That affidavit gives us complete control over this case. If you withhold information from us you purposely are committing an obstruction of justice. And don't thin I won't charge you!" Philies said.

"Oh I know you well enough to know you will. But I can't let you do that. Not yet anyway." Brandon said, as he then pointed the gun away from Philies. Everyone took a quick sigh of relief. "Which is why I'm not giving you the chance!" Brandon said as he then pointed the gun at himself. Philies simple gave a small chuckle as he looked at his men and then back to Brandon.

"Agents, incapacitate this man." Philies said.

"It only takes a few 5lbs of pressure." Brandon said. Thats when the words he was saying began to land. Philies the whole time hadn't been taking Brandon seriously, not for a second. Yet at that moment he made that comment. Brandon's words began to be heard by Philies completely. Philies's eyes widened with disblef. "You wouldn't, you're bluffing." Philies said.

"Maybe, but you'll never know. Did you really think I'd let you walk in here and ruin my case, with your old fashion policing methods and wacky interrogations.

No.

I've haven't slept, I haven't stopped thinking and I haven't stopped working on this case. Every fiber of my being is tied to this, and I won't allow anyone else to come in and think make me stand by and watch as they fumble everything!" Brandon said. "You would obstruct this case, a case both the prime Minister and the president of the United States are both heavily invested in! Just to appease your ego!?" Philies shouted.

"Maybe it is ego, but I know I'm going to crack this case. I know I'm close. Closer then I've ever been before now. I won't be pushed away this time Philies. Not again.

I have the names of the white rabbit's ace. I know what he's planning, why? Well thats just details. All I know is, that if I'm not the one doing this. He will escape. And I know that's not what you want. Why would you accept something like this if you didn't feel you could do it. Right Philies? But thats the problem with feelings.

It's like masterbating. Good only for while you do it, once done all you feel is guilt and shame afterwards." Brandon said.

"ARREST THIS MAN IMMEDIATELY!" Philies shouted as the American agents began to walk towards him. "Another step and you'll not only come yourself this case, but you'll also cost yourself you're career.

Tell me whats more important to you? Beating me? Or the pride of American?" Brandon asked. Philies looked at him, some of his agents also staring at him too. The situation, like so many others was reaching its peak. The tension was high. Everyone on their toes. Philies was sweating as he and Brandon stared one another down. Philies standing in the side of the law of not only American, but for Japan as well.

While Brandon stood for something entirely alien to the rest of them. Full bred justice. The clock was ticking, even though Philies and everyone else didn't know it.

It was only a matter of time for Brandon to start the timer.

"I'll give you till the count of 5 to go back to the president and prime Minister, tell them of what I've done and what I've sworn to do.

If I fail then they can lock me away and throw away the key.

If I win, then, well. Thats good enough for me." Brandon said. Sweat passed by Philies's brow. He quickly took a breath. Trying to hold some kind of control here.

"...You can't-"

"You have 5 seconds." Brandon said as he then clicked the safety off of the gun. Causing for everyone's eyes to widen and the tension to finally reach its boiling point.

"Brandon!" Mr.Nakayama shouted

"5" Brandon said.

"He won't do it. He can't." Philies said.

"4" Brandon said.

"If you go through with this all that big talk about not standing aside, about not watching the bad men walk free will be bullshit. Is that what you want? To be a hypocrite? To die a fool!" Philies shouted.

"STOP YOU FUCKING IDIOT!" Mr.Miyuki shouted

"3" Brandon said.

"IF YOU PULL THAT TRIGGER I WILL MAKE SURE YOU'RE NAME IS WRITTEN DOWN IN EVERY EMBARRASSING BOOK IN HISTORY! FOR THE REST OF THE TIME THIS BLUE ROCK STILL BREATHES!

DO YOU HEAR ME!?

BRANDON!!!" Philies screamed. Yet Brandon didn't flinch, his eyes and Philies's still locked on one another.

"...2" Brandon said. Philies's breath got shakey, his eyes shakey as all the agents also began to quiver just a bit.

"1" Brandon said as his finger began to pull the trigger.

"ALRIGHT!" Philies shouted. Mr.Nakayama and Miyuki looked at him. Brandon continued staring at him. Philies took a deep breath. "...I'll go ahead and get the affidavit looked at for you then.

In the meantime, you'll be my custody." Philies said. "No thanks. You say you'll do it sure, but I want it done Wheels. I don't care what you set for if I fail. I just want full jurisdiction on this case till the IPOW begins." Brandon said. Philies scowled at him.

"Until thats confirmed and I've read it over, only then will I remove this gin from head. Only them, will you finally get to be free of my control." Brandon said. "Oh Wright, you don't get it do you. There is no such thing as control, control and choice are merely the illusion created by two forces. Those with power, and those without." Philies said. Brandon watched as Philies and his men walked to their cars and drove away. Brandon still stood there with the gun to his head. Mr.Nakayama and Miyuki both finally too a well deserved breath as they ran to Brandon.

"ARE YOU INSANE!? HES INSANR RIGHT!?" Mr.Miyuki shouted. Mr.Nakayama nodded.

"He may be, but he just bought us a few more days. In that time I need the full story. No secrets." Mr.Nakayama said

"I can't, if they go after you you'll talk. No offense, but you have something to lose. I don't besides my taste for exotic fruits...to be honest maybe I should have thought this part through." Brandon said.

"Brandon. Focus. What is it that you have?" Mr.Miyuki asked. Brandon looked to both of them. "Ok, the White Rabbit has a lose end. Rather its been put there on purpose is irrelevant. What matters is getting it before its too late." Brandon said.

"It?" Mr.Nakayama asked.

"Juo, hes the lose end. Hes the only one who can identify the voice of the white rabbit to our prime suspect. We get him, and this case is closed." Brandon said. "Whats stopping the white rabbit from just killing him?" Mr.Miyuki asked.

"He left Juo in the hands of a unpredictable variable. He has no idea what she's thinking or where she is really.

She is the one piece he can't control, at least not anymore." Brandon said. "What do you mean?" Mr.Miyuki asked. Brandon then shrugged as he got a bit nervous.

"I may have or not, suggested to her the idea of breaking free of the white rabbit's strings...which may or may not also be the cause of this man's death and the capture of the woman who lived here." Brandon said a bit sheepishly. Mr.Miyuki needed a moment to process this before speaking.

"I'm sorry...did I just hear you say. That you're responsible for this!?" Mr.Miyuki shouted

"Responsible is such a strong word. I prefer nudged." Brandon said. "I-"

"It doesn't matter now. The endgame is here and we need to start getting ready to play the pieces we have to. Brandon's right. They'll squeeze me for information if he has to listen to me. Which is what I have a better idea." Mr.Nakayama said. "What are you thinking?" Brandon asked.

"I'm thinking I got just the person for you, bright, intelligent and most importantly. Will keep you in line." He said.

"Oh wow, this sounds like fun. Who is he?" Brandon asked.

Much later on Jun would arrive at the police station. Where now it was filled with not only Japanese officers, but now some American ones. Jun was wearing a blue jacket with a white t-shirt and shorts. She walked inside with a black backpack on. As she did she'd walk past everyone until she reached her father's office. She took a deep breath. She then remembered a conversation between her and her father just a few hours ago.

Jun was in her room, building a small automatic microwave when she got a phone call from her father.

"Dad?" She answered.

"Listen Jun, this is very important. The entire structure of the world of law enforcement hangs in the balance, and I've decided to make a choice.

I feel like it's been one I've been needing to make for a long time now. The darkness I once could see before has grown too much. I can't keep looking at it again and again. Its...changed me. And even though I don't feel changed it has done that to me.

I would never ask you to do this-"

"But I want to." Jun said. Mr.Nakayama already knew exactly how his daughter operated. He knew how she carried herself. And that this was the only way.

"...I need you to finish things in my place. But I want you to know you can come to be about anything. No matter what, big or small." He said. Jun smiled. "Thank you dad." She said.

"Thats my girl. Now, here's what I want you to do." He said.

Jun then opened her eyes returning from the memory as she then opened the door to her dad's office to see Brandon in a chair, Philies standing with his arms cross, Mr.Miyuki standing next to Mr.Nakayama's desk with the man himself sitting in it.

"What? This is her??" Philies asked

"Nakayama." Mr.Miyuki said.

"Dont worry Philies. She'll do great in my place on this case. She helped crack the Trickster case, seems only fair she be the one to break down this one." Mr.Nakayama said. "This is preposterous." He said. Brandon stood up and looked at her. She looked to him for a moment too.

Everyone then looked at Jun. She took a deep breath and then looked at them.

"I'm ready." She said.
