Chapter 16 - The Blue Flamingo Hunt

Anyway, thanks to the Tiger sacrificing itself, I now know how this group of birds fights and could also judge if I could hunt them or not.

So may you rest in peace, big six-eyed cat.

Now, how should I go about this? If I charge like the tiger did, my fate won't be much different from his, even though I have a hard exoskeleton. I don't want to try and see if it can resist those powerful beaks.

With that in mind, the only way I can see to hunt these big blue birds is by taking them by surprise, like the tiger had tried to do.

If I can get one alone for just a few seconds, grab its long legs, and drag it away from the group, I would be able to escape successfully with my prey.

But I'll have to wait for the flamingos to disperse and calm down until I can find an opportunity to get a Blue Flamingo alone.

After the Tiger's body was blended with the ground, the Flamingo formation finally stopped attacking and instead started looking around with caution, trying to find any other predator that might want to hunt them.

After stretching their necks to the limit and combined with their tall stature, they could reach a height of almost 7 meters, which created a terrifying scene. No wonder that the Tiger couldn't escape with those long necks; once you were in range, escaping was but an unreachable dream.

But thankfully, I was hidden pretty far away in an area full of shadows, also being paired with my pure black body made noticing me a very hard task.

After they looked around for a few more minutes without seeing any creatures that would pose a threat to them, they started to break the formation and go back to eat.

But compared to before, they were now all closer to each other, seemingly trying to maintain a certain distance.

This made me worry as I thought they wouldn't give me a chance to take action and instead had to go look for another creature to hunt, which by no means was an easy task, which also brought with it many dangers.

Thankfully, my worries disappeared after one and a half hours of waiting, as the one that had gotten away from the group before had done it once more.

It became engrossed in eating and forgot about the close encounter with death one hour ago, which made it lose its concentration. So, in just a few minutes, it was already 60 meters away from the group, which was three times more than the rest of the group.

It seems like this Blue Flamingo bird is destined to die today, I thought to myself while sighing.

Whatever, this is good for me. Having gotten the opportunity I had been waiting for, I wasted no time and started making my way towards the big bird.

Since I had learned from the Tiger's mistake, I was extra careful and didn't rush, as to not attract the attention of the other Blue birds and make this stupid one run away.

When I was just 10 meters away from the Flamingo Bird, hiding behind a huge black mushroom, I looked at the back of my prey. Seeing that it was still engrossed in eating, I knew that the time to attack was here.

Immediately, I dashed away with my full speed and opened my horns while running, as to not waste any time when I got close to the bird.

In just 2 seconds, the tall legs of the Flamingo bird were right in front of my sharp and fully opened horns. With a strong head movement, both of the flamingo's legs were caught between my horns.

While being careful not to snap the flamingo's legs, I ensured that once they were between my horns, I exerted just the right amount of strength to secure an ironclad hold onto them..

Immediately after I closed my horns and the flamingo started to fall down, a piercing scream was heard from its long beak even before touching the ground.

Ignoring the loud screams of the Flamingo caught between my horns and the cries of the other birds in the group, I hurriedly escaped, dragging the bird along the ground by its legs. Its cries sounded like that of a pig about to be slaughtered.

If this dumb flamingo keeps screaming, I won't be able to lose the other Blue flamingos that were chasing after me.

So after seeing a tree in front of me, I took a sharp turn around it, which in turn threw the head of the screaming flamingo against the hard trunk, making it faint from the hit.

YouWith its annoying screams gone, I could successfully escape from the group of flamingos chasing me. It took me half an hour of running at full speed through tall grass and bushes.

But finally, the strong vibrations from the other flamingos' screams were gone.

While escaping, the Blue flamingo woke up twice more. However, with plenty of trees in the forest, it quickly went back to sleep each time it woke up.

And after the sounds disappeared, I started to slow down. Even with my newfound strength, running at full speed for half an hour was very tiring.

If the flamingo birds hadn't let up, I had considered leaving the Blue flamingo and running away on my own, hoping to escape from them after they had retrieved their comrade.

Thankfully, I didn't have to give up on my hard-earned prey.
