Bang!
Boom!
The three research groups here were clearly different from the quiet atmosphere in the previous group; the second group was filled with various mechanical roars.
Explosions and small vibrations occurred from time to time.
However, Arthur was accustomed to it all. He had been here half a year ago and had enjoyed himself greatly.
As he entered, the endless noise masked his presence. The scientists were so absorbed in their work that they wouldn't even notice unless Arthur called out to them.
He moved deeper through the area, and the cacophony of sounds gradually faded.
Finally, after passing through an automatic door, the noise was completely cut off.
In comparison to the weapons outside, the ones being researched in this laboratory were far more dangerous and significant.
This was also why Arthur had created an automatic rifle for the farming robots to shoot birds and protect crops in the first place.
The technology they had secretly acquired from Future Island had a promising application, particularly the laser weapon that Frank had obtained.
Laser weapons were more environmentally friendly and easier to power than traditional firearms.
After all, Frank could use laser weapons by storing three bottles of Coke in the small cabinet in his stomach, so there was no reason Sky Island couldn't do the same!
Raiden Energy must be on par with Coke—far above one star in the top 100! Plus, they had electric shells and lightning shells to consider!
According to research and tests, a 1.5 million-volt electric shell could fire 300 rounds of laser bullets.
This was the energy consumed by the laser in just a tenth of a second.
Upon entering the laser gun development site, Arthur found a spacious white room.
Five scientists were responsible for the laser weapons here, making this the largest research team in the second or third group.
Arthur's entrance disrupted the quiet environment, and all five scientists frowned, looking up at him.
"Huh?" Their expressions changed immediately upon recognizing Arthur.
The leader of the laser weapon research team was surprised, but then a smile appeared on his face.
"God, you're here at the perfect time! We're preparing for the final stage of testing the laser gun!"
"As long as the test goes smoothly, we can move to mass production immediately! The Thunder Legion, the Super God Legion, and the War Angels of the Glorious Legion can all be equipped with laser weapons!"
"Oh?" Arthur was taken aback by the news. Although he had come to check on the laser weapon project, he hadn't expected to arrive just in time for the final testing.
What a fortunate coincidence! His eyes sparkled with excitement. The power of laser weapons was well known, and with Sky Island's unique resources, they had to equip the three legions—totaling 333 members—with the best lightning shells!
Each member could have two high-quality lightning shells, with each shell delivering 25 to 30 million volts. That meant a total of at least 50 to 60 million volts for each soldier!
With such an immense power supply, the laser guns could be used extensively. Everyone would have tens of thousands of shots—an overwhelming advantage!
And the Thunder Legion could generate their own lightning.
This would significantly boost the combat effectiveness of the three legions. Even a lieutenant-level opponent caught off guard would suffer greatly against laser weaponry.
"Great! Let's test it right now!" Arthur waved his hand, moving toward the laser gun testing area.
The testing area for laser weapons was different from those for conventional weapons.
Laser energy was extremely potent; while conventional weapons could cause damage that could be repaired, the destruction caused by laser weapons was not easily recoverable.
Thus, the testing area had been specially modified to absorb energy and redirect it to the lunar relic city.
This setup allowed for weapon testing while simultaneously powering the city—an ideal solution.
Once they reached the test area, several scientists placed large boxes on a table and began unpacking various laser guns of different models.
The leader of the laser weapon research team pulled out a sleek gun that looked like something from a sci-fi movie and installed an electric shell into a special slot.
*Wing!*
The laser gun emitted a unique sound, and azure lights on its body illuminated.
The team leader handed the laser gun to Arthur, explaining, "God, this is the KS-1 laser gun.
It's a pistol model among these types of laser weapons, designed to be loaded with electric shells.
There are a total of one hundred electric shells, each generating 800,000 volts, allowing for 360 shots."
As he spoke, the team leader pointed to a sliding button beneath the trigger.
"This is the mode selector, with five options. The innermost mode minimizes power, reducing the attack to one-fifth of its normal strength and limiting the range to 300 meters—suitable for burning objects."
"The second setting provides half the normal power with an 800-meter range. Within 500 meters, it remains a serious threat to ordinary people."
"The third mode is standard power, with a range of two kilometers. Within 1,500 meters, lethality is largely unchanged."
"It can inflict lethal damage to a typical Marine Colonel. At 300 meters, even a strong individual equivalent to a Marine Elite Major General would be severely injured by five shots."
"The fourth mode maintains standard power but allows for three shots in quick succession within one-third of a second. The impact is considerable!"
"The fifth mode is reserved for critical threats. It boosts the laser gun's power threefold. Under the right conditions, five shots could easily kill an unprotected ordinary lieutenant general."
"However, due to the material limitations of the laser gun, this mode can only be used ten times before the gun is rendered unusable and the electric shell destroyed."
Arthur nodded, understanding the information. "Got it. Now step aside; I'll give it a try!"
After the introduction, he instructed the scientists to move away. He aimed at the smooth wall, reminiscent of a mirror, and practiced pulling the trigger repeatedly.
*Biu! Biu! Biu!*
As he fired, Arthur cycled through the different settings. Eventually, he pushed it to maximum power, firing again and again.
**Bang! Boom!**
In stark contrast to the quietness of one group, the second group was filled with the relentless roars of machinery and explosions, accompanied by the occasional tremor.
Arthur, having spent half a year here before, had become accustomed to the chaos. He had indulged his love for firearms during his previous visit, and the noise hardly registered as he entered the area. The researchers were so engrossed in their work that they wouldn't notice him unless he called out directly.
As Arthur made his way through the bustling zone, the cacophony gradually diminished until he passed through an automatic door. Inside, the atmosphere shifted completely. The weapons developed here were far more dangerous and significant than those outside.
This was also the reason Arthur had created an automatic rifle; he intended for the farming robots to use it to scare away birds and protect crops, but the technology he had secretly obtained from the island of the future held greater promise. Among these advancements was the laser weapon that Frank had discovered.
Unlike traditional firearms, laser weapons were more environmentally friendly and easier to maintain. If Frank could use laser weapons with just three bottles of Coke stored in his body, then surely Sky Island could do the same! Raiden Energy must function like Coke, far exceeding one star in the top 100! And let's not overlook the electric shells and lightning shells!
Research indicated that a 1.5 million-volt electric shell could fire 300 rounds of laser bullets, consuming energy equivalent to a tenth of a second's worth of laser light.
Upon entering the laser gun development site, Arthur was greeted by a vast, white space. Five scientists were responsible for the laser weapons—this was one of the largest research groups in the second or third divisions.
Arthur's entrance disrupted the quiet environment, prompting all five scientists to frown and turn their attention to him.
"Huh?" They were surprised to see Arthur, and their expressions quickly shifted to smiles.
"God! You're here just in time! We're about to enter the final stage of testing the laser gun!" exclaimed the leader of the laser weapon research team.
"If the test goes well, we can move into mass production! The Thunder Legion, Super God Legion, and Glorious Legion's War Angels can be equipped with laser weapons!"
"Oh?" Arthur was taken aback. He had come to check on the progress of the laser weapon project but hadn't expected to arrive just in time for the test.
His eyes sparkled with excitement. The laser weapon was incredibly powerful, and with the free shellfish from his country, each of the three legions—totaling 333 members—should be equipped with the best lightning shells! Each person would have two high-quality lightning shells, capable of delivering 50 to 60 million volts!
With such immense energy stored, the laser guns could be used liberally. And the Thunder Legion would enhance their combat effectiveness further since they could unleash thunder and lightning themselves. Even a lieutenant-level master would face severe consequences if caught off guard by a laser weapon.
"Fantastic! Let's get started on the test!" Arthur waved his hand and headed toward the laser gun testing area.
Unlike conventional weapon test areas, the laser weapons area was specially modified to absorb energy, converting it to power the lunar relic city. This allowed them to test the weapons while also supplying energy—a win-win scenario.
Once at the testing site, several scientists placed their large boxes on the table and began unpacking various models of laser guns.
The team leader presented Arthur with a sleek KS-1 laser gun, reminiscent of weapons seen in sci-fi films, and attached an electric shell into its designated slot.
*Wing!*
The gun emitted a distinctive sound as azure lights illuminated along its body.
"This is the KS-1," the leader explained. "It's a pistol among laser weapons, designed to use only electric shells. It can fire 360 shots using 800,000 volts. We have a total of one hundred electric shells."
He continued, "The settings include five modes. The innermost setting minimizes power, limiting the range to 300 meters and dealing only one-fifth of the normal damage. The second gear offers half power with an 800-meter range, still posing a serious threat within 500 meters. The third gear has normal power with a range of two kilometers; within 1,500 meters, it can inflict significant damage to ordinary Marine Colonels.
"The fourth gear retains normal power but allows for three rapid shots in one-third of a second. Finally, the fifth gear amplifies the power threefold, potentially killing an undefended ordinary lieutenant general with just five shots."
Arthur nodded, absorbing the information. "I understand. Now, step aside; I'll give it a try!"
As the scientists moved out of the way, Arthur took aim at the smooth wall and began pulling the trigger repeatedly.
*Biu~biu~biu~*
He fired several rounds while experimenting with the different gears. Eventually, he cranked it up to maximum power, unleashing a flurry of shots.
*Wing~wing~wing~*
The power fluctuations caused the gun to tremble, and Arthur noticed it heating up quickly. Undeterred, he continued to shoot.
Sure enough, before the tenth shot could be fired, the KS-1 exploded in his hand, sending electric bolts swirling around him.
Once the elementalized energy of his hand returned to normal, Arthur turned to the five scientists and said, "This gun is incredible! It's perfect as a basic weapon for the legions and the army! What's next?"
Arthur's gaze fell upon the remaining laser guns, each more impressive than the last.
"This one is the KS-2, a short-to-medium continuous-fire laser gun, akin to the automatic rifle you developed. It has six gears, designed for full combat use without power reduction.
"In the first gear, pull back twice for single-shot mode. The second gear allows for a three-shot burst, while the third gear enables a seven-shot burst in standard mode. The fourth gear is fully automatic, firing until the energy is depleted. The fifth gear triples the power but can only be fired continuously for five seconds. The final gear features a cutting mode, allowing for sustained laser emission for up to 30 seconds, but the gun will be scrapped afterward."
"Great!" Arthur replied, gesturing toward the last three types of laser weapons. "Tell me about the last three at once."
"Of course, God!" The team leader nodded eagerly.
"The KS-3 is an ultra-distance optical telescope sniper laser gun. It's medium-sized and equipped with a nearly half-meter-long optical telescope that allows you to target enemies from 25 kilometers away. A single shot can eliminate an unarmed lieutenant general from 20 kilometers away. However, it might not affect powerful individuals like Garp or Zephyr due to their exceptional physical resilience.
"The KS-4 is a laser hand cannon. It emits a laser beam as thick as a fist but can only fire four rounds due to material limitations. Each shot consumes 100,000 volts of electricity.
"Finally, the KS-5, dubbed 'Thor Roars,' resembles a heavy machine gun, similar to a Vulcan Gatling. It has six slots for electric or lightning shells. Each shot requires 10,000 volts. Although a single shot is less destructive than the KS-4, it compensates with a staggering rate of fire—100 shots per second!
"Arthur, based on my calculations, the power of Thor Roars is likely on par with Kizaru's *Eight Feet Qiong Gouyu*, although it's much more powerful than his attacks during the Top War."
Despite its impressive power, Arthur recognized the weapon's significant energy demands. Without the right user, like Weber, who possessed the Shock Fruit (Shokku Shokku no Mi), it would quickly deplete its ammunition.
"After testing all five types of laser weapons, I'm very pleased," Arthur said, giving the team leader a pat on the shoulder. "Great work! However, the materials for these guns need improvement. I'll look into this matter, but don't consult Ashiya; he has other important responsibilities!"
Arthur mentioned Ashiya, a scientist specializing in materials, particularly metals. While Ashiya had been instrumental in developing the current metal for the laser guns, Arthur had a more suitable candidate in mind for the task ahead!
