As soon as Arthur introduced himself as a "god from Sky Island," the old men on Sky Island exchanged confused and astonished glances. The revelation seemed to have shaken them, especially Harreds, who froze in disbelief upon hearing Arthur's title. His long-standing knowledge of the skies and weather sciences did not prepare him for a visitor claiming such a lofty title.
"Eh!?" Harreds gasped again, louder this time. "A god from Sky Island?"
The entire group of elderly meteorologists erupted into a chorus of surprised exclamations. "God from Sky Island?!" They repeated in unison, their voices echoing across the island. A wave of shock and disbelief spread through the crowd as they murmured among themselves. Even the oldest and most experienced among them seemed unsettled by the sudden appearance of such a figure.
Arthur, still calm and composed, gave them a soft, reassuring smile. He glanced over at Jessica, who stood confidently beside him. "This is my wife, Jessica, daughter of a nobleman from the Kingdom of Narnia," he added, his voice steady.
The old men, flustered but polite, quickly regained their composure. One by one, they bowed slightly, a gesture of respect. Despite their confusion and apprehension, the courtesy of these top meteorologists was evident in their formal greeting.
"Welcome to Sky Island, God Arthur," Harreds finally spoke, stepping forward, his voice shaking slightly with respect. "I am Harreds, a humble scholar of the winds and weather." He introduced himself, giving Arthur a more focused look. "Forgive us for our earlier panic... we never imagined we'd meet someone from Sky Island, let alone a god."
Arthur waved his hand dismissively. "There's no need for apologies. I understand your concern about protecting the secrets of Sky Island. But rest assured, I have no intention of interfering with your work. In fact, I'm here because I seek something from this island."
Harreds' eyes narrowed slightly in curiosity. "What would that be?"
Arthur glanced at the massive bubble beneath the floating island, then back at the group of scientists. "The giant bubble beneath Sky Island. It is one of the reasons I've come. Its properties are unlike anything else I've encountered in my travels."
The old men began muttering amongst themselves once more. The bubble beneath the island was an ancient and powerful natural phenomenon that few outsiders knew about. Harreds stroked his beard, deep in thought. "That bubble... it's been here since before our time. It supports this island's unique position and environment. But why would a god from Sky Island be interested in it?"
Arthur's smile grew slightly. "Let's just say... it could help me on my journey. I have many plans, and this island holds something I believe will be of great use."
Jessica, who had remained silent until now, stepped forward and placed a hand on Arthur's arm. "We mean no harm to Sky Island. We simply wish to learn and explore."
The old men, still cautious but less apprehensive, nodded in understanding. Harreds, the de facto leader, spoke again. "Well then, as long as Sky Island's science and knowledge remain protected, we have no reason to stand in your way. We are just old men who study the weather. If you need our help in understanding the bubble or anything else, we will assist you."
Arthur nodded gratefully. "Thank you, Harreds. Your cooperation means a lot. I believe we can learn much from each other."
The atmosphere lightened considerably as the old men, though still a bit nervous, began to relax around Arthur and Jessica. The island of Sky Island, known for its secrecy and ancient knowledge, had now opened a door to a mysterious visitor from the skies—an unexpected alliance that might change the fate of both worlds.
As Arthur and the old men from Sky Island negotiated, a sense of excitement filled the air. The prospect of exploring the moon and studying phenomena beyond their island sparked a flicker of youthful enthusiasm in their aged hearts.
"Your Majesty, the God of Sky Island," Harreds spoke again, his tone more composed now. "We appreciate your offer. But tell us, who do you have in mind as a suitable inheritor for our knowledge? Finding someone capable is no small task."
Arthur thought for a moment, glancing eastward toward the horizon. "I believe I know someone who would be an excellent candidate," he said, his voice brimming with confidence. "Her name is Nami. She's not only intelligent but also deeply curious about weather patterns and navigation. I think she would excel in continuing your legacy."
The old men nodded, murmuring in agreement. Nami's reputation as a skilled navigator and her knowledge of weather phenomena resonated with their standards.
"Very well," Harreds said. "If she can join us and show promise, we will be pleased to share our knowledge of Sky Island with you and her."
Arthur smiled, relieved that they had reached an understanding. "Then it's settled! I will bring her to you."
With that, Arthur directed Jessica to steer the floating island back toward Sky Island, where Nami awaited. As the island began to change direction, the old men settled down, their earlier anxieties replaced with a renewed sense of purpose. They began discussing their theories and ideas, eager to share their wisdom and experiences with Arthur and Jessica.
As they approached Sky Island, Arthur took a moment to observe the vast expanse of blue sky around them. The thought of introducing Nami to the wonders of Sky Island and the moon thrilled him. This partnership could open new doors for both the Valoran family and the ancient knowledge held by the meteorologists.
Once they landed, Arthur turned to the old men. "Please wait here. I'll go fetch Nami."
As he made his way through the island, Arthur's mind raced with possibilities. The union of Sky Island's knowledge with the resources and technology he possessed could lead to incredible advancements in understanding weather patterns and exploration beyond their world.
After a brief search, Arthur found Nami studying a weather map. "Nami!" he called, drawing her attention. "I have something important to discuss with you."
Her expression turned curious. "What's going on, Arthur?"
He gestured for her to follow him. "I need you to come with me. We're heading to an island that's home to some of the greatest meteorologists in the world. They want to share their knowledge, but they need a suitable inheritor—someone like you."
Nami's eyes widened in surprise. "Me? Why me?"
"Because you're brilliant, and they see potential in you," Arthur explained. "Plus, I think you'll find their research on the moon and beyond fascinating."
Nami hesitated for a moment, then a spark of excitement flickered in her eyes. "Alright! Let's go!" she exclaimed, enthusiasm radiating from her.
Arthur led Nami back to the floating island, where the group of old men awaited. "Everyone, this is Nami. She's the person I believe will carry on the legacy of Sky Island's astronomical science."
The old men greeted her warmly, their curiosity piqued. "Welcome, young lady!" Harreds said, bowing slightly. "We look forward to sharing our knowledge with you."
As they set off toward the moon, Arthur felt a surge of optimism. With Nami's involvement and the old men's wisdom, they were about to embark on a new chapter that could shape the future of their world and beyond.
