Chapter 76 - Chapter 76

Seeing that the giant sword thrown by Vander Decken IX is the captain of the Flying Pirates was about to pierce the bubble above Fish-Man Island, Arthur quickly reacted. With a flash of thunder, he disappeared and reappeared on top of the giant sword.

Arthur devised a simple yet effective plan to leave a good impression and get inside Ryugu Palace City. Using his lightning metallurgy ability, he transformed the giant sword into a large football.

Arthur then turned into lightning, entered the sphere, and reverted to his human form. Despite the transformation, the giant sword—now a large football—continued its trajectory toward Ryugu Palace City.

This idea came to Arthur suddenly. The unique property of Vander Decken IX. Mato Mato no Mi fruit is that once he throws an object, it won't stop unless it hits something or someone. By reshaping the sword mid-flight without affecting its trajectory, Arthur took a gamble, and it worked.

Before piercing the upper membrane of Fish-Man Island, the giant sword flickered and turned into an elliptical sphere. It then pierced the bubble and headed towards Ryugu Palace City.

Soon after, Arthur felt the sphere encounter some obstacles, followed by breaking through into another area. He knew he had entered Ryugu Palace City.

After a brief collision, the sphere stopped and deformed slightly, falling to the ground.

"Am I here?" Arthur thought to himself inside the sphere.

To avoid any unnecessary misunderstandings, Arthur didn't immediately exit the sphere. He was also wary of water, which could weaken him. Elementalizing his arm, he pressed his hand against the sphere and melted a small hole that fit his arm.

Feeling around, he confirmed there was no water. He tried the same at the bottom and found it slightly wet but not enough to cause concern.

Satisfied that he wouldn't be weakened by water, Arthur turned into lightning and emerged from the sphere.

"By the way, why is there no one here? Did I happen to arrive during a shift change?" Arthur wondered as he looked around and saw no one.

"It seems that in the original story, Luffy entered the Hard Shell Tower by mistake, not due to a shift change but because the tower was considered safe. Have they become so used to the princess being unharmed that they've neglected their duties, leaving a short gap?"

Seeing no one around and sensing two life signatures in the Hard Shell Tower, Arthur's curiosity got the better of him.

"One of the top three beauties in One Piece—who wouldn't want to see her? Even emperors want to see beautiful women!"

With that thought, Arthur decided to go inside and take a look.

"Crunch~"

The heavy iron gate was easily pushed open, and the Hard Shell Tower was dark and quiet. However, the sound of the door opening made one of the presences inside become active and move closer to him.

Arthur sensed the approaching presence and realized it was a large fish. 'Hmm... this doesn't seem like a mermaid from Fish-Man Island,' he thought.

Unable to see in the dark, Arthur created a ball of lightning, which emitted light with minimal noise—perfect for illumination.

As soon as the lightning ball appeared, Arthur saw a shark swimming towards him. Startled by the sudden light, the shark bared its teeth and rushed at him.

'Does it think I'm an intruder? Well, technically, I am,' Arthur thought. He released a directional burst of Conqueror's Haki.

The shark, which seemed to be Princess Shirahoshi's pet Megalo, immediately broke into a cold sweat, its eyes rolling back as it fainted.

Ignoring the oddity of a sweating shark, Arthur continued to explore with the light of his lightning ball. He soon spotted a huge bed. Before he could inspect further, a soft and pleasant voice called out.

"Who's there? Megalo?"

Instantly, the tower's interior lit up brightly. Realizing it was Princess Shirahoshi, one of the three most beautiful women in the One Piece world, who had turned on the light, Arthur dispelled his lightning ball and teleported to the bed.

He saw a huge pink mermaid sitting up, rubbing her eyes.

"Eh?"

Princess Shirahoshi noticed the stranger on her bed and exclaimed, "Who... who are you?"

Tears began to well up in her large eyes.

'Damn... She's only eleven or twelve years old now, right? And a mermaid at that,' Arthur was momentarily stunned.

In the One Piece world, beautiful women were common, but Shirahoshi's beauty was unparalleled.

Even Arthur was impressed.

However, he quickly regained his composure.

But it seemed he was too late.

"Wow, wow!"

Princess Shirahoshi started crying loudly, calling out, "Father, Brother, help! Uuuuuuu!"

Arthur's brow twitched. Wasn't this supposed to be Luffy's experience? Why did it feel so similar?

"Hey, don't cry! I'm not a bad person!"

Arthur tried to explain, but his words were lost in the princess's cries.

She continued sobbing, "You must be here to kill me!"

"Huh?" Arthur blinked and said, "I'm not human!" He revealed his elemental wings hidden under a shell of lightning.

The sight of the wings momentarily distracted Princess Shirahoshi, and her crying lessened.

"Why do you have wings? Are you an angel? Angels can't be bad, right?" she asked between sobs.

Arthur nodded, "Yes, I am an angel! Angels can be bad, but I'm not one of them!"

"You really won't hurt me?" she asked, her voice still trembling.

"Of course not. I came to Ryugu Palace for important reasons, with good intentions."

Shirahoshi, a kind-hearted girl, sensed that Arthur meant no harm. Her immature Observation Haki also confirmed his lack of malicious intent, so she believed him.

"There really are angels in the world. I thought it was just a fairy tale," she said, looking at Arthur with curiosity.

Just then, because of Shirahoshi's cries, the guards arrived quickly. King Neptune, his three sons, and his ministers also arrived.

The door of the Hard Shell Tower was pushed open with a clang.
