Entering the New World, the first island encountered is Raijin Island.
This island is exceedingly peculiar. Thunderstorms rage here continuously for years, with thunder and lightning falling like rain, slashing down from the sky. It's one of the most perilous islands even within the New World.
The island's first known visitor was the enigmatic Urouge. To set foot on this island, a special umbrella is necessary.
However, as a master of thunder and lightning, Arthur required little preparation.
Observing the sky not far away cloaked in thunderclouds and the constant descent of thunderstorms, the island flickering in lightning, Arthur felt an inherent connection, as if he were meant to control this island.
He sensed that his combat prowess would greatly increase on this island.
Below the ship, a small wooden boat appeared mysteriously on the turbulent sea.
An elderly woman, her frail form draped in a massive black cloak, revealed a wrinkled, somber face, exuding an air of gloom.
When the old woman steered her boat alongside Arthur's vessel, she asked with a trembling voice, "Do you need an umbrella?"
Arthur regarded the old woman coldly and remained silent. His experience allowed him to sense the hidden malice in her demeanor.
Navigating straight towards Thor Island, the old woman in the boat observed Arthur's swift approach with astonishment. Her aged eyes widened, and a sinister smile crossed her lips.
"What an impudent child, ignoring an old woman and heading straight for Thunder Island."
Disregarding the old woman's thoughts, Arthur docked his boat on the shore of Raijin Island.
As he stepped onto the island, Arthur paid no heed to the thunder and lightning, striding forward as if unaffected by the storm. The old woman watched in amazement as Arthur vanished into Thor's Isle, unfazed by the lightning strikes, her mouth agape.
On the island, Arthur noticed that the ground was exceptionally solid, almost metallic. Perhaps years of thunder and lightning had fused all the organic matter, leaving only metal behind.
Furthermore, due to prolonged exposure, metals with low melting points had vanished, leaving behind only those metals impervious to even the thunderous onslaught from above.
Wrapping his fist in Armament Haki, Arthur struck the island with force. On ordinary islands, such a punch would shatter boulders, but here it merely left a shallow mark.
"Excellent steel. This island has its uses!" Arthur remarked satisfactorily as he ventured further island.
The New World truly is a wondrous realm.
Even on islands enshrouded in thunder and lightning year-round, there are inhabitants, albeit few. They dwell on the outskirts of Thunder Island.
Using his enhanced senses, Arthur discovered a spot at the island's edge with the weakest lightning, where a small town housed a mere two to three hundred residents. Despite their small number, these people appeared fragile, their vitality dwindling.
Arthur didn't entertain the idea of investigating further. Thunder Island was vast, and these residents likely had nowhere else to go.
As one ventured toward the island's center, the lightning grew fiercer. Every hundred meters inward marked an escalation in thunder and lightning intensity. From less than 10 million volts at the outermost point to over 50 million volts after walking roughly three kilometers inward, the power surged.
Currently, Arthur was still several kilometers away from the central core.
Surprisingly, Arthur harbored a hint of anticipation. Could the central lightning exceed hundreds of millions of volts? Perhaps even surpass its current limits?
When he consumed the Goro Goro no Mi, Arthur had considered using lightning to temper his body. However, as a being of lightning, his own bolts had no effect on him.
Ultimately, Arthur relied on physical training to augment his strength. He also discovered that his lightning could only be condensed within his body, temporarily bolstering his physical prowess and endurance.
Arthur's mastery of thunder, like his encounter with the Shiki, included a transformative technique—the Thunder God's Blessing. It was unique in its ability to enhance the body with lightning, but its taxing nature limited its duration. This made using lightning to fortify his body impractical.
However, Thor Island presented a new possibility.
While 50 million volts had no effect on his current state, Arthur realized that by sealing his powers with seastone and then utilizing the island's thunder and lightning to temper his body, success might be attainable.
This revelation prompted Arthur to adjust his future plans, albeit tentatively. He would only proceed with this strategy once he confirmed its effectiveness within the New World's challenges.
At present, it remained a theory.
The immediate focus was on gauging the lightning's potential at the island's core.
Natural thunderstorms can reach one billion volts, coupled with temperatures exceeding 10,000 degrees, surpassing even a supernova's heat, albeit briefly.
"I estimate this island to house at least 500 million volts!" Arthur speculated, subtly guiding the thunder and lightning, growing increasingly intrigued by Raijin Island's potential.
