Chapter 42 - Chapter 42

In the shrine atop Raijin Island, Arthur awoke with Raki in his arms.

As the first woman Arthur had taken interest in since Jessica, Raki was aware of Arthur's previous connection with Jessica, which had left her upset for a while.

After much reassurance, Arthur eventually carried her to the room. Despite spending the entire night together, nothing beyond that happened. However, achieving the feat of double-stay and double-fly seemed quite challenging.

Nearly a year had passed since the battle with the Shiki, and Arthur's wings had stopped growing about a month ago. They had reached a size of over three meters, fitting proportionally with his two-meter height, resulting in a wingspan of around six meters.

Originally, Arthur had wanted to test his flying abilities long ago, showcasing it to the nation. However, he decided that a grand debut flight required careful planning for the best effect.

Every New Year's Eve, Arthur or someone else would ring the golden bell. This time, Arthur planned to fly during the grand annual festival to display his miraculous ability to the people.

On December 31, 1496, the sky island sparkled with countless beautifully arranged lamp shells of various sizes, creating a daytime-like ambiance. Some were large light shells, a rarity.

The excitement in Raijin Island reached its peak as the time drew near. Citizens eagerly awaited the moment when the god of the Angel Kingdom would personally ring the golden bell, adding to the festive atmosphere.

In the shrine, Arthur pondered and eventually donned a sacred armor crafted from precious metals like gold, silver, and platinum. It gleamed brightly under the light, creating a stunning effect—exactly what Arthur aimed for. This also hinted at the future angel army. Despite years of indoctrination, without proper inspiration, people couldn't unleash their full potential.

To cultivate enthusiasm among future fighters and solidify his position, Arthur needed to train a top-notch army.

As the time arrived, Arthur stood in the vast square in front of the temple, surrounded by thunder as he gradually ascended. His massive wings unfurled, and a brilliant burst of light drew everyone's gaze upwards.

"What's that?" Most onlookers were clueless, their eyes filled with curiosity. Only a few knew what to expect.

In the sky, Arthur gracefully maneuvered with his wings, relishing the sensation of mastering the heavens—freedom and boundless.

Had it not been for his purpose, Arthur might have soared endlessly. With his majestic wings, he descended from the sky, resembling a true messenger of light, a deity in the backdrop of the lamp shells.

Wide-eyed, the crowd watched in disbelief as Arthur, seemingly an angel capable of flight, descended.

The history of the angel clan had never witnessed an angel growing massive wings and freely flying. Despite their angelic lineage, their wings were merely decorative.

"It's possible, becoming a true flying angel!" This realization dawned on everyone.

In the mesmerized gazes of the onlookers, Arthur approached the Golden Bell altar.

Observing the angels below, their unwavering attention brought a contented smile to Arthur's heart.

Taking the hammer used to strike the clock, Arthur struck it with force.

Ding-dong, ding-dong, the delightful and resonant bells echoed throughout Raijin Island and Jaya Island.

The golden bell radiated a golden light, swaying rhythmically and producing its unique sound, as if resonating within people's hearts.

Those previously mesmerized by Arthur slowly closed their eyes, savoring the beautiful melody of the bell.

After the bell ceased its enchanting melody, those immersed in its aftermath slowly opened their eyes, the bewilderment fading from their expressions.

"It was beautiful. Even if I couldn't hear it," sighed many.

"Wait, where did the angel go?" A sudden realization struck the crowd as they realized they had forgotten to observe the angel's departure and appearance.

Meanwhile, Arthur had returned to the temple to dine with his two wives, leaving the rest to Gang Cole. Arthur's insights always kept him informed of the situation below.

As everyone regained their composure, Gang Cole emerged to explain about the angel, wing growth, and IQ grass. He highlighted the rarity of IQ grass, emphasizing that it couldn't supply everyone and was reserved for those joining the army.

This revelation sparked excitement among the angels. Compared to the legends of the Infinite Continent, this information was more practical and tangible.

A sense of fanaticism enveloped the angels, elevating their enthusiasm to new heights.
