Chapter 42 - College Boyfriend

Jada was just coming out of the shower, dripping from hair down to her toes and on her towel worn around her body when she heard a beep on her phone.

She ignored it and looked over her closet filled with big shirts and big pants, mostly black colors which is her favorite color.

Another beep caught her attention, she walked toward it and looked over.

Jada picked up her phone and saw Nancy's text and anyone could tell from her message that she was shrieking.

"Are you free? Can't say this on the phone but something happened yesterday! Come over!!! Oh my F!!".

Jada had an idea of what could happen but not wanting to ruin the whole fun of the gossip which would be better hearing it in person, she answered "Okay" and in a hurry, she got dressed and hurried out of her room.

It was 4:01 pm in the evening and Jada's mother just got back from work, with a man in his mid-20s next to her.

The excitement and eagerness of Jada's face instantly wore off.

Her mother who had also noticed her daughter and what bringing that man home might trigger, ignored Jada's glare and put down her bag on the cushion while the man also sat.

"Jada! I thought you would be in Nancy's by now, you barely be home by this time", Mrs. Williams said while walking into the kitchen.

"You want some soda? It's good for the hot season", Mrs Williams asked the man who was smiling uncomfortably.

He nodded, "Oh yes babe…." He paused and looked over at Jada who was still glaring hard, "I mean, Jayla".

Jada scoffs in annoyance, she folds her arms and takes a step closer.

"Aren't you like 24? Or is it 23? And you are still in NCU! third year? Or what?", Jada asked in a fast yet rude tone.

"Jada!", Mrs Williams interrupted, she gently grabbed the glass cup and walked towards the man, "Be nice! What is wrong with you?".

"What is wrong with me? Are you joking Mom? Didn't we talk about this? The last time I saw you with him at the park, you told me he was your colleague at work! Even though I knew it was a lie", Jada paused and stared at the guy in disgust.

"Really Mom! Aren't you like 15 years older than him! If you were gonna be with someone! This!!!".

"JADA!!!!!", Mrs Williams exclaimed, her brows lowered and pulled closed together, she gently put down the soda on the table.

"I told you to stop, didn't I? Why talk rudely to my visitor and he is right here! Don't you have no respect for me?", she added.

Jada looked at her mom and saw her scowling face.

The girl chuckled dryly and answered.

"Okay", she took a step back and stared at both of them, "you mean respect for you or for him? I could literally go for someone like him if we had met before you, but I guess not!! He is into older women".

"Okay that is enough, you should go to wherever you are going, I would not tolerate you standing there and disrespecting my visitor while I am here, out!!!", Mrs. Williams angrily said.

Jada smirked and turned her gaze at the man whose thighs were not clenched together and his palm resting on them, he was uncomfortable and feeling uneasy.

"I didn't know you like white young boys now, I remember you were all over Dad and mentioned how his brown-skinned shine above all, I see people change", Jada coldly said.

She shook her head and walked out of the house, slamming the door behind her.

"Oh my God! This child", the woman complained while sitting.

"I… I am sorry, I didn't know I would", his stuttering was immediately stopped by the woman's hand on his.

"It is okay… she is just not over her father's death yet… this is not about you, she needs to accept whoever I want and that is final", Mrs Williams assured him.

He nodded and inhaled sharply.

"I don't even know how to drink the soda anymore, I wished this would go well", he said while wiping his sweaty palm against his legs.

The woman stared at him and smiled. She grabbed the soda and opened it for him before stretching it towards him.

He smiled and took it from her.

"That must have been so uncomfortable, I am sorry", she gently said and watched him nod. "She is actually a good girl, you would get to realize that soon, and her ex-girlfriend was white too, she is not racist… you know talking about how you were white".

"I understand Jayla… don't need to explain, I understand she was just mad", he said.

One thing Mrs Williams likes about Nathan is his ability to understand her so quickly without over-explaining, he gets her so much and she finds herself drawn to him ever since he had helped three months ago when her phone broke down in the middle of the road.

He was a mechanical engineering student and had helped her, which had made them close and inseparable since then despite the age difference.

It took Jada some minutes to get to Nancy's place.

She gently knocked on the door and there was an instant response from Aunt Kat, who had asked her to come in.

Jada said hi to Aunt Kat before walking towards Nancy's room.

Jada was one of the few people that doesn't knock on Nancy's door, apart from Tara, Aunt Kat… actually, almost everyone she knew didn't knock on her door and Nancy had gotten used to it.

"Jada! Oh my God, you are here", Nancy flew over to her friend and pulled her towards the bed, making her sit.

Jada masked her hidden anger and let out a chuckle, "WHAT IS THIS! I haven't seen you this excited in a while, not after the lake date with Nolan…", she stopped and stared at Nancy's wide smile.

"What happened Nancy?".

"Jada I think I have fallen in love!!!".
