"What?!" Adrianna yelled as she stared at the manager in shock.
"The boss said that I should deduct fifty dollars from your pay this month! You came in late today and you have been making mistakes with the customers all day. A few of them complained about you. We would have fired you outright because we place a great emphasis on working hard for the restaurant but since you have been a good employee up until you, we have decided to retain you while deducting your money so that you know not to make any of these mistakes in the future!" Her manager said.
"No , listen to me. You can't do this to me! You just can't do this to me! I have a lot of responsibilities you see! And today was a hard day for me! I promise that nothing like this is ever going to happen again. Can you please just give me a second chance? I really need this money!" Adrianna begged.
Her manager sighed. "I know that you need money but you need to know that the boss doesn't care about that. He would have fired you if I wasn't the one who begged for you!
Adrianna lost her temper at this. How could he do this to her when she had been a very good employee ever since she started working here?!
"Oh come on please! Is he the devil perhaps? How can he do this to me when I have worked very hard for the company ever since I got a job here? I have never made a mistake before and the only mistake I made today was coming in 2 minutes late and making a few mistakes. He can't deduct fifty dollars from my salary just because of this. You have to talk to him. I don't know what I did this month without that $50" Adrianna begged.
The manager shook his head as he frowned. He felt sorry for Adrianna because he knew a bit about what she was currently going through. He knew that she really needed the money to get through every month.
"Fine. I am going to talk to him. But I don't know what he is going to do. You know that he doesn't care about anyone besides himself. Don't get your hopes high!". He said.
Adrianna grabbed his hand. "Thank you so much! Thank you so much for this!" She said.
...
About thirty minutes later, Adrianna was done with her shift for the day.
As she walked out of the restaurant, she could feel her entire body hurting. She picked up her phone and saw that she had a text message.
It was a reminder from the hospital to pay the remainder of her sister's hospital bills. Her sister had Parents had died in just one week and so the doctor had taken pity on her and asked her to pay later.
Now, they were on her for the money.
Adrianna sighed as she walked down the street. What was she supposed to do with her life now? How is she going to get the money to pay off her debts?!
.....
The next day, Adrianna had a night shift so she set off for work really early. She wanted to make sure that she got to work at least a few minutes earlier. She was hoping that her boss would see how hard she was working and let her have her job back.
She stepped into the restaurant and saw that everywhere was dark. No one has arrived yet and they had not opened for the late night sales.
She sat down on one of the chairs as she waited for the rest of her coworkers to come.
She had nothing doing as she sat and waited so Adrianna started thinking about the life that she had before all of this happened.
She had a younger sister that she really adored and she had parents that loved the both of them. They had normal happy lives but then all of that was shattered in just one day when she found out that her sister was sick with a heart defect.
The doctors told them that there was a chance for her to be treated but that they would have to spend a lot of money for her to get better.
She and her parents were more than willing to spend the money to make sure that her sister got better but the more they spent, the more the money went down the drain quickly.
They had Nothing else to do and so they used all of Their properties as collateral and took out a huge loan from loan sharks.
Just a few months later, after all of that money was gone, her sister died. The doctors tried Their best but there was nothing that they could do to save her lovely sister from dying
She and her parents grieved together, and she thought that they were all in it together but she was in for the shock of her life when her parents died.
They had high blood pressure overnight and they just passed away.
She was left with debts to pay off. The loan sharks were chasing her and the hospital gave her a time frame to pay off the money that she owed.
Before her sister fell sick and her family lost everything they had, she had always wanted to be a journalist. She had worked hard in school just for her goal and as soon as she graduated, her life fell apart.
She did not have the time to look for a job as a journalist. She needed money real bad and she took the first job she could find. So she was stuck working for a heartless boss.
Adrianna came out of her thoughts to see her that the lights in her boss' office was turned on.
She was curious. Why was he here? He wasn't here most nights...
She walked over to his office and saw that the door was opened a bit.
Her boss was standing facing the door and a man was facing him with his back to her.
She stood by the door as she started to listen on the conversation.
"Please Tristian. You can't do this to me Tristian. I have worked for you for a long time and I have always been loyal to you. I just made a mistake this time. You have to forgive me" the other man begged.
Tristian had a sinister smile on his face as the man begged him. Spell I felt as if I was looking at her as he talked to the man. But no there was no way he knew she was standing outside the door right?
"Why should I forgive you? I know that you have worked for me and you've been loyal but that is not enough reason for me to forgive you. You just need to wait for what's coming for you!" He said to the man.
Adrianna felt as if the conversation was done and she was about to walk away but the door was pulled open just then.
Her boss walked out with a dangerous smirk on his face.
He gave her a deep look and Adrianna was shaking. He wasn't going to fire her because she overheard his conversation right?!
"What did you hear?" He asked her.
She shook her head. "No....I did not hear anything...." She said.
"That's great. Remember, you did not hear anything!" Tristian said and walked away.
Adrianna placed her hand on her fast beating chest. What just happened?!
She sighed and shook her head as she went back to her job.
Since her night shift was going to start soon, she went to the changing room that all the female employees of the restaurant used.
She picked up her waiter uniform and just then, she saw a note fall from it.
She read it and her heart started beating fast against her chest.
"Stay away from Tristian. He is very dangerous and it won't do you any good for you to get involved with him" the text read.
Adrianna was confused. Whoever left the note did not leave a name.
But she thought that she was the only one who saw what happened a few minutes ago. She was the only one in the restaurants. Or was there someone else who saw what happened? If the person was there watching them, why didn't he say anything?
Adrianna felt as if she got herself involved in some conspiracy and she won't be getting out soon.
....
Adrianna only got back home at 3am in the morning since she worked the night shift. By the time she got back home, she was too tired to do anything.
She just wanted to sleep. She was about to get in bed when she received a text message on her phone.
It was from an unknown number and it read, "You are in more deeper than you think"
Adrianna was dumbfounded. What was going on? What had She gotten herself into?
