Chapter 57 - Chapter 52 - Captain Marvel Part 1

POV: Baldur.

USA, Louisiana.

Maria Rambeau's House.

The photon energy blast seems to be in slow motion for me, I could easily dodge it, but I simply conjure a golden light shield in front of me for protection. My light constructs have become more powerful. Seeing how easily I defend myself against a blow from their most powerful player makes everyone even tenser.

"If I had come to fight..."

I try to explain, but am interrupted by Carol once again, now she attacks me with a punch at my shield, which breaks. I step back, dodging the second blow, she continues to attack me at great speed, but I evade all her strikes effortlessly.

"Stop, I'm not your enemy!"

"EVERYONE SAYS THAT!!"

It seems I've chosen a terrible moment to introduce myself, now she's in a state where she won't easily trust any new ally appearing out of nowhere. Unfortunately, she still has her powers reduced, if she didn't, she could give me a good fight.

(But that's not the case.)

"Enough!"

I grab her fist and twist her body, making her fall to the ground, and put the tip of my spear on her neck.

"CLICK!"

"Stop, golden boy."

I lift my head and see Fury and the two Skrulls pointing their guns at me, Maria is holding her daughter in her arms, the girl looks very scared.

"As I was about to say before being interrupted, if I had come to fight, I wouldn't lose the element of surprise by appearing in front of you."

"Prove it then, take that beautiful golden spear off my friend's neck," says Fury.

I obey and remove the blade from Carol's neck, then step back several steps and look at all of them. Carol gets up and gets into an attacking position again but is stopped.

"Wait! I recognize this craftsmanship, he uses a weapon forged by the dwarves of Nidavellir."

"So what?" she says.

"It means he's an Asgardian."

The Skrull leader makes a small bow, leaving everyone more curious. It's no surprise that the Skrulls know about Asgard.

"My name is Talos, may I know the lord's name?"

"Finally someone with a bit of education, my name is Baldur Odinson, king of Genosha."

My words scared Talos and Fury, but for different reasons. Talos recognized my last name, and Fury was surprised by the fact that I am the king of the most powerful and hidden nation in the world.

"Now that introductions have been made, we have much to discuss."

It took a while, but I managed to get Carol to agree to listen to me. Then we went inside Maria's house to talk, and now all of us are sitting at a table where Fury was eating, trying to understand everything Talos said about the Asgardians. I love the look of confusion on Fury's face as he tries to understand everything.

"So. Let me see if I understand correctly, you're the same king who declared war on Nazi Germany from the super-secret country of Genosha, you're also the son of a king from a kingdom that legends of our world speak of hundreds of years ago."

"The Asgardians are a warrior people who almost dominated the universe hundreds of years ago, they can live thousands of years and are powerful enough to be called gods, but for some reason, King Odin stopped their conquest and became the protector of the nine realms. They are one of the reasons why Dr. Mar-Vell chose this planet to hide."

"What do you mean?" Carol asks, curious about my story.

She hasn't been very happy with my presence since I defeated her, I can see in her eyes that she wants a rematch.

"Dr. Mar-Vell needed a safe place to conduct her research, this planet is well hidden, as it is also under the protection of Asgard, the Kree Empire is not crazy enough to go to war against them," says Talos.

"I don't want anything to do with the Skrulls, but I'm not good enough to let the Kree come and do as they please on Earth," I say to everyone.

"I thank you for your help nonetheless," says Talos, making a small bow while sitting in his chair.

"Now that we've settled everything, why don't we move on to the main issue?"

Talos now focuses all his attention on Carol.

"I know I don't deserve your trust, but you were our only lead. We found out that your energy signature matched Mar-Vell's core, now we know why. If you knew how important this is to me, I just need you to help me decode Mar-Vell's lab coordinates."

Talos speaks to her.

"They weren't coordinates, they were state vectors, of velocity and orbital position. You didn't find the lab on Earth because it's not on Earth. That was the location on the date of the accident, 6 years ago. If we track your course, we'll find it in orbit now."

This caught Talos by surprise, he looked at his subordinate behind him who was also astonished.

"In orbit? What was the difficulty in that? You're my scientist, aren't you?"

(The interaction between them is really funny)

"Yon-Rogg will find me soon. We have to reach the core before him."

I can hear a bit of apprehension in Carol's voice, perhaps she's still not fully ready to fight her former comrades.

"We're going to space? In what?" Fury asks.

"I can make some modifications to the ship you came in," the Skrull scientist says.

"It's not necessary, you can use the ship I came in, it's more than equipped to go into space."

Everyone looks at me again.

"Why are you so shocked? There's no place on Earth with technology superior to Genosha."

"We still have to do something about Yon-Rogg, he'll definitely follow us," Carol says.

"We can distract him," Talos says, looking at his scientist.

"It won't work, you'll just sacrifice another life for nothing. Yon-Rogg is a soldier who has been fighting against his people for years, he'll easily see through your plan. Instead of losing another life, why not let him follow us? We'll set a trap on the doctor's ship."

"I like this plan," Fury says.

"NO! We can't let the Kree get on the ship."

Talos's explosion made everyone realize that there's more to this story than he told.

"Don't worry, Talos, I give you my word that none of the refugees inside the doctor's ship will be harmed."

"You knew about them!?"

"I said I was keeping an eye on you guys."

Knowing about the refugees in the lab increased our partnership's trust, we discussed the plan until everyone agreed on it.

"So, does everyone agree with the plan?" Fury asks, and this time there are no objections.

"I'll need a co-pilot," Carol says to Maria, smiling.

All the details were decided and sorted out. I, Fury, Carol, and the two Skrulls will use my ship to go into space. There, the scientist and I will stay hidden on the ship until Yon-Rogg and his team arrive. They'll capture Carol and everyone else, and when that happens, I'll attack them from behind, freeing everyone. Meanwhile, the scientist will take advantage of the confusion and lead the refugees to my ship, keeping them safe.

Everyone stares at me in front of the barn. Carol is now wearing the red and blue colors of the Air Force.

"So, where's your ship?" Fury asks.

"Alice."

A second later, a golden ship appears out of nowhere behind me.

"That's definitely a ship," he says.

"Who's Alice?" Carol asks.

"My AI."

We all enter the ship. Carol and Maria sit in the front seats, behind them is Fury with his cat, and Talos. The scientist and I stand behind them.

(Why on earth did I let her take control of my ship anyway?)

Carol quickly understood how the ship worked and took us towards the coordinates, increasing our altitude rapidly.

"You shouldn't be holding that thing," Talos says, looking at the "cat" in Fury's lap.

"Our alliance is fragile, at best. As long as he keeps you terrified, I'll keep giving him all the love and care he needs."

"You should listen to him, Fury. Flerkens are a species that changes their mood from one moment to another."

"What's the problem with you guys and cats?"

"What's a cat?" Talos asks.

Then we had a funny conversation about whether Talos could transform into a file or a cat until we reached the coordinates of the lab. It took a little longer, but we managed to remove the camouflage from the Kree imperial cruiser. I must say the doctor has a lot of talent to take such a ship out of Kree control. Carol managed to hack the ship and open its doors to the empty deck.

"Well, we're going to the ship's command center. Are you sure Yon-Rogg won't find your ship?" Carol asks me.

"This ship was built with Genosha's best technology, it's not inferior to Kree technology. If Yon-Rogg doesn't come across it directly, he won't be able to find it."

"I don't want to be disrespectful to a Norse god, but do you really think you can fight against all the members of her team?" Fury asks while petting his beautiful cat, I must say this Fury is much better than the one from the future, much more humorous.

"Of her team, only she has powers, the rest rely on technology and fighting skills. It won't be a problem. And actually, it's a bit late to think about it, we're already here."

Fury, Maria, Carol, and Talos head towards the center of the ship, leaving me and the scientist inside my own ship. I activate the security measures and the camouflage, and we remain silent for a while, waiting for our enemies.

"This ship is really well-planned," the Skrull tries to make conversation.

I land a punch on the side of his face, knocking him unconscious.

"Sorry about that, buddy."

(T/N: was not expecting this)

I hoist him onto my shoulders and carry him to the back of the ship.

"Alice, open the chamber."

"Yes, sir."

The back of the ship opens, revealing a silver capsule the size of a man. Its glass door slides open, and I place the scientist inside.

"Commence analysis."

The glass door closes, and the capsule begins to glow.

"Analysis initiated. Thirty minutes until completion."

In my opinion, the Skrulls are the most dangerous race in the universe. They can shapeshift into anyone at a cellular level, and not even the technology of the great empires of the universe can distinguish them. Imagine the havoc they could wreak with that ability.

So I took this opportunity to conduct a thorough analysis of one of them. He won't suffer any physical harm, after thirty minutes, he'll wake up as if nothing happened and will forget that he was hit by me. I just need to come up with an excuse, like saying he was hit by an enemy or something.

"Sir, enemies have entered the ship. They are now heading towards the center of the ship."

"Excellent!"
