Chapter 41 - CHAPTER 41 - Battle At The Top Floor II

(Flash Back...Matthew's POV)

Matthew listened to Tisane as they conversed.

And he was beset mainly with the feeling of disappointment when he discovered that the boy standing before him was nothing but a naive idiot with a ridiculous plan.

Seriously, who would think that entering the company where you were supposedly hired and beating up some workers and the security guards and then barging into the CEO's office to apologize is actually a plan that would work out???

He totally reevaluated his opinion of Tisane by concluding that he was not an assassin or a determined criminal but a fool on a suicide mission.

As he came to this conclusion, he totally lost interest in Tisane.

All that was on his mind was to put Tisane down and hand him over to the security.

And he was about to do just that when Sabrina attacked suddenly.

Well he didn't have any problem with that because he had lost interest in Tisane already, so he didn't mind if Tisane lived or died.

In mutant school, they were made to understand that the life of a mutant was worth more than the lives of a thousand ordinary human beings.

And as mutants they were also made to understand they were the future of the human race.

They were the ones who will preserve and protect human existence.

They were the lions.

Ordinary humans were nothing but sheep.

If the sheep die, big deal.

But if the lions die, then all is lost.

And because of that, he never really saw the importance of the lives of ordinary human beings.

He was not taught to kill unreasonably, but that didn't mean that it would mean anything if he did.

Especially when it pertains to ordinary humans.

The only reason he didn't allow Sabrina carry on with her desire to kill Tisane was that they were initially told by their employers to capture Tisane alive.

Though he didn't understand the reason why but he was not interested to know as it was none of his business.

Seeing that Tisane was injured and scared from Sabrina's surprise but deadly attack, Matthew knew that the whole charade had ended.

So all they had to do was apprehend Tisane, bring him to the company security and possibly they will return back to their five star lounge from where they were summoned.

But then imagine his surprise when Tisane resisted and refused to be apprehended.

Matthew only had one thought running through his mind.

Has this kid lost it?!

Then he saw Sabrina move forward in an attempt to release her anger on Tisane.

Matthew chose not to stop her because he felt that Tisane needed to be dealt with for him to know his place.

But he was then surprised as Sabrina was also resisted by Tisane and even pushed back!

Though he knew that Sabrina didn't use her mutant power when she tried to assault Tisane.

So he was not too surprised that she was pushed back.

He had watched Tisane fight through the CCTV footages and he knew that Tisane had probably received significant training by some martial arts master somewhere.

Back in mutant school, they were made to understand the difference between mutants and humans.

Mutants were born fighters and possessed raw talent and power that surpassed that of any human that has existed or that will ever exist.

While humans were weak and possessed no actual raw talent.

The only advantage that humans had was their mind and will.

Though it was nothing compared to that of a mutant but a human' mind or will is the only thing that gave them a fighting chance against a mutant.

Matthew remembered being told by his master of certain humans who through the tenacious determination of their will, were able to train their minds and body to the point that they could exhibit half step mutant power.

But still, the fact remained that no matter how much a human trained his or herself, they would be easily defeated even by a basic level mutant.

That was just how wide the gap was between humans and mutants.

So Matthew was not really surprised by Tisane's level of resistance.

In fact, he even began to admire Tisane and regard him in a new light.

But that little regard and admiration turned into huge shock and surprise when the hothead Jerry entered the fray.

Matthew watched as Tisane and Jerry exchanged blows and kicks simultaneously with neither one backing down.

His body trembled a little when he looked closely and discovered that Tisane was actually dodging and blocking Jerry's attacks while successfully landing attacks of his own.

How is this possible?

Matthew's eyes were wide open in disbelief.

Weren't they told that humans couldn't contend against mutants?

That the highest trained human could barely last a round against the lowest trained mutant?

Then what was his eyes seeing?!

He knew for a fact that Jerry had already activated his basic mutant power before the fight began.

And he also knew for a fact that there was no way that Tisane was a mutant.

Because every mutant had the natural ability to sense and if trained to a higher level, even track and locate other mutants.

As for Matthew and his crew, they were trained on the first level.

And that was to sense other mutants in the vicinity.

So he was very sure that Tisane was not a mutant because he didn't sense any mutant energy from him.

But then what the hell was his eyes seeing?

It wasn't long before Jerry and Tisane disengaged from their fight.

And one look at the two of them, it was obvious who had the upper hand.

Matthew gaped as he saw Jerry wincing in pain.

But on looking at Tisane, apart from some slight injuries and bruises, he was quite calm and still standing strong.

Matthew knew there was something wrong with this scenario but he couldn't place his foot on it.

Also he had looked again closely and deeply at Tisane but sensed nothing close or similar to mutant energy on him.

Then where did his abnormal strength come from?

Has he trained himself to the point that he was able to close the gap between humans and mutants?

But that was not possible!

The humans who were able to push themselves to the level of a mutant were only able to do so after intense training for almost a century.

Some are not even able to achieve such a feat even after a hundred years!

And those who do are known to be the strongest humans and greatest geniuses that the human race had ever produced!

As for Tisane, he was not even thirty years old!

If he truly had somehow attained a level of strength that was similar to that of a mutant at this age, then how troublesome would such a prospect be!

But Matthew didn't still believe that such a thing was possible. So he decided to step up and get some answers from Tisane.

But to his irritation, Tisane proved to be as annoying as possible.

He then decided that if Tisane refused to listen to reason, then he would listen to a very sound beating!

Matthew didn't hesitate to activate his mutant power as he attacked Tisane.

And unsurprisingly, Tisane was not as strong as he thought. Matthew was able to overwhelm and dominate Tisane throughout the fight.

And few minutes after, Tisane was on the floor trembling in pain and fear.

Hmph it seems he was worried for nothing.

Tisane was quite strong, which was commendable but that was all.

He was still no match against a true mutant.

~Fuu~

Matthew blew a sigh of relief.

For a moment there, he was afraid that they had encountered a human whom was capable of exhibiting the strength of a mutant.

Well I guess that's all she wrote.

Matthew turned away with regained confidence as he ordered Jerry to apprehend the half conscious Tisane.

But to his unexpected shock, Tisane resisted again.

Matthew stared at Jerry whom had crashed unto Melissa bringing them both to the ground.

He then shifted his gaze to Tisane whom was already on his feet with a provocative smile on his face.

What the hell?!!

Is he for real?!

What is he? A ball that bounces back up when you smash it to the ground?

Matthew was beginning to get shocked and irritated by Tisane's tenacity when all of a sudden something unexpected happened.

He's attacking!

Matthew's eyes widened as he saw Tisane dashing towards him.

And what was more shocking was that Tisane vanished in the midst of his headlong dash.

What?!

Matthew became flabbergasted as he couldn't pinpoint where Tisane was.

Pushing his senses to the max, he immediately sensed a hostile presence behind him even before Sabrina called out.

"Behind you!"

Matthew immediately prepared his attack as he spun around without warning.

He thinks that he can get the drop on me?

Think again!

Matthew was so sure that his attack would be successful, until.....

All he saw when he turned around was Sabrina's shocked face. The shock on her face was like a mirror that reflected his mistake.

How is this possible?!

It's like this guy is growing stronger the more he fights.

Matthew for the first time in a long time felt something that he had almost forgotten.

Fear.

He felt like he had been targeted by a phantom that he couldn't shake off.

Behind me!

Again he felt a hostile presence behind him. But this time, he couldn't react on time as he felt three heavy blows that were so painful that he wondered if they were delivered by human flesh.

~Crash~

Opening his eyes, he saw himself on the floor.

Humiliation!

He had been humiliated!!

And by a random kid that they just met!

At this point, he lost all reasoning as he heard the words come out of his mouth.

"Kill him!!"
