Mr Adeyanju stepped out of the car which had halted in front of the glamorous mansion. Hesitating for a while, he took a deep breath and straightened himself in the manner of someone preparing to face something tough and disconcerting.
Before he walked into the mansion, he was greeted by two maidservants, a male and a female.
"The chairman is expecting you sir" the both chorused together as they gestured for Mr Adeyanju to follow them.
Nodding his head in resignation, he followed them behind as they directed him to a Hall on the third floor.
Setting his eyes on the layout of the hall, he saw a huge long table surrounded by well polished mahogany chairs and seated at the head of the table was an aged man whom was reading a group of files.
Recognizing whom this man was, Mr Adeyanju stiffened a bit as he felt his heartbeat become rapid.
"Are you going to stand there or have your seat Mr Adeyanju?" The aged man asked without lifting his eyes from what he was reading.
"Ye--yes sir, good afternoon Mr chairman" Mr Adeyanju seemed to stutter in his words as he came forward and bowed before trying to take his seat.
"No, that chair is already occupied" Mr Aliko said as Adeyanju picked a chair to sit on.
Mr Adeyanju halted. _'Occupied? What did he mean by that?'_
Clearly, all chairs except the one that Mr Aliko was seated on were empty. Then why would Mr Aliko say a chair was occupied when it was visible that no one was seated on it?
Not one to dare refute the words of the most powerful man in Africa, Mr Adeyanju quickly picked another chair to seat on but---
"That is also occupied" Mr Aliko said again with a nonchalant look on his face.
"Ah..." Mr Adeyanju was beginning to wonder if there was something wrong with the chairman's sanity.
"Sit over there" Mr Aliko instructed, pointing to the last chair on the further end of his left side.
Staring blankly for a few seconds, Mr Adeyanju quickly obeyed and sat down.
_ 'What the heck is wrong with the chairman?' _
Mr Adeyanju was beginning to become confused.
"Well then, let's begin" Mr Aliko stated.
After the statement was made, strange holographic figures appeared on each and every previously empty seat which made Mr Adeyanju almost jumped out of his chair.
_'What in God's name are all these?'_
Mr Adeyanju stared wide eyed at what was unfolding before him.
"You don't need to look so frightened Mr Adeyanju" Mr Aliko said after noticing the obvious shock and fear on Mr Adeyanju's face.
"These are computer holograms which are being used by our subordinates to reach out from our various branches around the world"
Mr Adeyanju nodded his head with an awkward look on his face.
_'So these are holograms. Wow'_
Mr Adeyanju took a mental note as he adjusted himself on his seat.
**Why Mr Aliko have you brought an amateur to the table?**
One of the holograms spoke.
"Mr Adeyanju is no amateur. Inexperienced yes, but quite efficient. Besides he has a role to play in what we will discuss today" Mr Aliko stated.
**Really?**
**And what are we here to discuss?**
"We found the location of the God-Tech cube" Mr Aliko said as he glanced around the hall with a strange look in his eyes.
**What?!** One of the holograms exclaimed.
**And where is it?!**
"During the Cameroon and Nigeria crisis 25 years ago, when we sent our forces in to secure the cube from the hands of the coalition leader Patrick La Bete. Unknown to us, another military group got there before us"
**Yes we are aware of that. It was a special unit of the Nigerian Armed Forces, but they were all interrogated and the cube wasn't found on anyone of them**
"What if a soldier from the special unit arrived before the others did and was handed the cube by La Bete?" Mr Aliko said mysteriously.
**That's impossible. Why would La Bete hand over a device that he had fought over for years to an unknown random soldier?**
**Is there something you're not telling us Mr Aliko?**
Mr Aliko glanced around the hall again before resting his eyes on Mr Adeyanju whom had a mix of confusion and understanding on his face.
Keeping a steady gaze on Mr Adeyanju for a few seconds, Mr Aliko shifted his eyes to the circular device on the table in front of him.
"I received a fate message from the mechaholic unit"
He tapped twice on the circular device, which resulted to the appearance of a holographic screen which was displaying the wreckage and burning view of a particular landmass.
"I was able to save the message before it self destructed"
The holographic display continued, which was now showing the interior of a building which was very much destroyed and devastated.
In the display, a man could be seen whom was heavily injured and seemed to be having a conversation with another man whom was dressed as a soldier and holding an M14 battle rifle.
The display seemed to go static for a few seconds and then switched to the view of the injured man handing over a glowing box to the soldier. After that the soldier seemed to glance behind him and run to a different direction, disappearing from view.
Then the display showed another group of soldiers rushing into the building when everything went static and the display went off.
For a few seconds, there was silence all over the hall before one of the holographic figures spoke slowly.
**Who the heck is that soldier?**
**He actually took off with the cube. Did he know what it was?**
**What I want to know is what he has done with the cube all this years?**
**Mr Aliko, you earlier said that you have discovered the location of the cube. Then tell us where it is**
Taking his time to create an atmosphere of suspense, Mr Aliko took out another device from his jacket and tapped it.
Within seconds, another holographic display sprung out. This time it was showing the photo and information of someone.
"Isn't that---?" Mr Adeyanju started.
**Captain James Bassey? Who is that?**
One of the holographic figures inquired.
"Mr Adeyanju, would you care to shed more light on this man here" Mr Aliko pointed to the holographic display as he fixed his gaze on Mr Adeyanju.
"Er..." seeing all attention placed on him, Mr Adeyanju felt quite nervous.
"Well captain James Bassy is one of Nigeria's finest soldiers and military strategists. He has helped the country solve and overcome many armed confrontations over the years"
Mr Adeyanju felt his throat go dry as he perceived all gazes on him.
"And he is known nationwide by his nickname 'Captain Nigeria' "
**Wait, captain Nigeria? I've heard of him**
**Me too. His reputation does precede him**
**So does he have anything to do with the guy that took the cube?**
"Actually, he was the guy that took the cube" Mr Aliko spoke with a smirk on his face.
**What?!**
**That was him?!**
Mr Adeyanju stared at the picture floating in the air with wide eyes.
"This...."
**How can that be?! The God-Tech cube has been in his hands all this while and we knew nothing about it?**
**Argh! So why are we still here talking about him? He should be strung up and the cube pried from his cold dead body**
"Gentlemen, as much as we all want the cube back in our hands, we must tread carefully. Besides, captain James is not one to be underestimated. There is a reason that he has kept the cube hidden from us all this years and that alone should tell us how capable he is"
Mr Aliko's words seemed to calm the agitated atmosphere.
**But then what should we do? Now that we know where the cube is, it is paramount that we recover it back**
"And we will but then Mr Adeyanju I believe you have a confession to make concerning captain James and your investigations into his family"
Mr Aliko shifted his eyes to Mr Adeyanju whom seemed to shiver.
After being silent for a few seconds, Mr Adeyanju sighed.
"Am sorry Mr chairman. Yes I did investigate into captain James and his family"
**So you knew** a holographic figure spoke accusingly.
"No I didn't" Mr Adeyanju waved his hands and denied immediately.
"Please don't misunderstand me. I only started investigating in captain James when he began to interfere in some of our underground businesses"
"Oh really?" Mr Aliko narrowed his eyes.
"Yes sir. Our mafia clients and underworld middlemen were being harassed and arrested by the police force due to the instigation of captain James. We began to have negative feedbacks from various underworld branches across the country and regional borders"
Mr Adeyanju took a deep breath as he continued.
"I knew that something had to be done concerning captain James. So I began to probe his domestic life to look for a weakness that we can use"
"Was it you alone that carried out the investigation?" Mr Aliko inquired.
"No sir"
"Who are the others?"
"Mr Olu Peters and Mr Fadeyemi of NPLC"
