Chapter 28 - Heading to the Horizon

Before departing from the Towers of the Magi, where Thalrion lay captive under Elrendar's spell, the group gathered one last time in the tower courtyard. Aria and Alex exchanged looks charged with determination, while Elrendar expressed his regret for not realizing that Thalrion had assumed the guise of one of his mages.

Elrendar: "My apologies, young ones, for not detecting Thalrion's ruse in time. I regret not being more cautious."

Aria, with a mixture of hatred and a desire for revenge towards Thalrion, clenched her fists tightly, swearing to make him pay for his actions. Alex, feeling the weight of duty on his shoulders, promised Elrendar that they would fight together to protect the kingdom from any future threats.

Meanwhile, King Leon, determined to punish Thalrion for his crimes in his Realm of Regalia, ordered him to be brought along. With Thalrion in custody, the group embarked on the journey back to the capital. However, the shortest route to Regalia was blocked, forcing them to take a detour through the Desieria desert.

With one last glance at the tower that had been their temporary home, the group ventured into the vast and scorching desert, facing new challenges and dangers in their quest for justice and security for their kingdom.

As the group departed from the Towers of the Magi, leaving behind the gleaming building, Elrendar retreated to his chambers, lost in thought. Suddenly, a dark and mysterious presence emerged from the shadows, surprising the mage.

Elrendar: "Who are you?"

The hooded figure removed their hood, revealing a face that left Elrendar stunned.

Hooded Figure: "My name is Zephyrus. Surprised to see that I'm alive, Elrendar?"

The mention of that name triggered a flood of memories in Elrendar's mind, reminding him of an ancient companion of Aldrich when he fought against the previous demon king.

Elrendar: "Zephyrus? Is it you? Weren't you a companion of the ancient heroes like Aldrich, Eldor...?"

Before Elrendar could finish his question, Zephyrus interrupted him with a disdainful gesture.

Zephyrus: "I didn't mention those despicable names. It's time for you to pay for your mistakes."

With a wave of his hand, Zephyrus cast a powerful gravity spell, causing Elrendar to fall to the ground with force, blood spilling from his mouth upon impact.
