"On the year 732, this world has flourished. The epitome of wonder, uniqueness, advancement, and prosperity. The hannis have ruled the world, accomplishing many wonders. They have made new types of machinery, discovering new forms of life, and is on its way of reaching towards the stars."
Labak began his tale. His tone dripping with nostalgic feeling. I can see it in his eyes. The eyes of the one reminiscing.
"They have done almost everything but then that one guy ruined it all."
His smile turned animalistic.
"You see, when this world is in the verge of further prosperity, there was a young man who's ambition dwarfs all the inhabitants of this planet. His name is Mor AK.
Mor Ak is an exceptional man. One of the greatest prodigy of his generation. He had potential that was so vast... and he knows it. At a young age of 6, he already learned all the basics. All the reports about him says that he is an incredible genius...and with great intellect, comes great ambition.
Mor Ak is different from everybody else. He had a strong will, a drive, and... an obsession. He wants to have the keys to immortality so he applied to be a biological engineer. Normally, that type of job only focuses on pharmaceutical means and the study of any known living things but he had other plans. I don't know what happened then but I can guess cause years later, a new cure was introduced all over the world. This medicine was able to heal anything and I mean absolutely anything.
Fever, cough, deep wounds, severed limbs, cancer, you name it. Mor Ak became a figure of this planet. His contributions had further advanced the planet until one day...
The outbreak began."
"The rise of those flesh eaters", I stated.
"Correct. It was instantaneous. No one knew how it came to be. One day all of the hannis in this planet are living in their miserable lives and bam, chaos emerged."
"What do you mean?"
"Just like I said, it was instantaneous. Every living organism in this planet started turning in mere seconds. The hannis, the drakiers, and many more. Those that have not turned are immediately hunted for food. The population of this planet immediately dropped to a lowly 10 percent. There are only a few hannis left in this world. Seeing as their world had turn into hell, they all went into hiding like a pack dogs with their tails between their legs. Hahaha.
And with the downfall of the hannis, a new civilization has risen. The sentients."
"Others like you."
He grinned. "And you, my little invader."
"Kingsdoms have emerged with the downfall of the living. Now it's the era of the Undead. I don't know what happened to Mor Ak earlier on but he has my eternal gratitude for making others such as me. Well others excpet you."
Labak resumed his battle stance. I tensed and held my sword upfront.
"You better surrender now. I just toyed with you on the first duration of our fight. What makes you think that this time won't be any different?"
"..."
"Heh, you really need to talk more."
He dashed towards me and tried to deliver a right hook to my face. I smirked. Got taken.
"Now." The battle drone shot 5 EPB's towards Labak. I ducked and slashed his abdomen, causing him to fly away back. His back made contact with the 5 EPB's and a great deal of explosion occurred.
Boom
Boom
Boom
Boom
Boom
I was sent away by the forcecof the explosion and went through the window. I landed on the outside of the mansion just in time for it to collapse. Base on the size of the blast, there's no way Labak could have survived that. While he was busy trying to monologue, I commanded my drone to prepare for a counter attack at any given possible situation. His still form led my drone to be able to analyze him and sent those info to me. I memorized all his possible movement and created every counter attack possible. He backs up?I would still be able to kill him. He goes for a jump attack? He will still die. It's all over for him. He could have killed me at an early moment but he let his hubris control him. Now his hubris led to his downfall. It's a shame for my battle drone though. The blast absolutely destroyed it to an atomic level. Haah. Now I'm back to square one.
Wait a minute...I think I'm forgetting something.
Shit! Whity is still inside. Why did I forget that he is still inside?! I know for a fact that my battle drone can be replaced but what about my friend?
I quickly ran towards the wreckage. Despair lingering in my chest. No, please no.
"Whity! Please answer me!" I yelled as I searched through the smoking debris. The flames have long since snuffed out due to the collapse of the mansion. Please be okay.
Boom.
I looked to the far side and held my ground. When I saw what came out of the wreckage, I immediately gritted my teeth in frustration. How?
"You almost got me there. Hehe", Labak said as he slowly stood up. He lost a big portion of his body. Half of his torso is vaporized. His clothes are all scorched up with a few of them just enough to cover his private parts. His legs has a visible burnt marks with a few of his toes missing. His one remaining arm had multiple burnt marks too and his face looks like it was fried to a crisp.
"How? How are you still alive?", I said in frustration. "That blast is enough to level a building so how?"
"Aah. Look at that, you mess me up real good. My body is beyond recognizable now. I lost my arm too. Too bad it's not enough though." His smile still present in his face. "I am a sentient boy. Undead like me are considered to be a king of this planet and you know why?" Labak's body is starting to let out a black smoke.
What the hell?
"Because we are the epitome of evolution. I'm sure you already know that when you eat a fellow Undead, your power would increase, right?"
...What?
"That's the thing, my little invader. The more you ate, the more you get stronger exponentially. And when you hit your limits, you will evolve and gain a unique ability."
So that's why. I thought the things that happened to me are the product of a certain entity bestowing me a gift for this world. Like a system if some might say but it turns out that I'm no different than anybody else.
"You know it, right? I can see it in your eyes. Over this past few months, I know you have been devouring zombies, crawlers, and many other types whenever you got the chance."
Damn it.
"I know that but the difference between you and me is I have been devouring for the same thing for last 5 years and I never stopped. And so, I have evolved."
Labak's body started to heal. All the damage that he sustained from the blast are all gone. He looks good as new. One thing I noticed though is that his body has no visible signs of rotting once he is fully healed. His skin looks alive. It was not of pale color like a corpse. He also has visible signs of muscle. He looks...human. Soon enough, electricity is starting to encircle his entire body and an aura of power had enveloped him.
"I have eaten a lot, my dear Jerome. I have evolved numerous times and after a few years, I have unlocked this hidden power in me. You should be honored. You will now bare witness a might of a sentient." He stared at me with his glowing yellow eyes. His entire body is generating enough current that scorched the ground.
I did not prepare for this. How in the world are zombies be able to aquire a power like this? It doesn't make sense. All my battles with the crawlers, zombies, diggers, and bulkiers all pale in comparison to this.
He pointed his finger at me with a devilish smile.
"You Jerome, I will make you pay for what you did to my nest."
Oh shit.
