Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Plans and Progress

A week has passed since my last battle with Labak and my nest is finally finished. A once small town is now a wide base of pure technological advancement and military power. It has expanded a bit to provide more room for my other projects. I'm currently at my training facility trying to...train. The upgrade I obtained from Labak is no small feat. My strength has boosted leaps and bounds. I can carry 8 busses stuck together at best. My black breath is also more corrosive than ever. The best part for all of this is that I could probably take any other undead like a juggernaut. However, my big boost comes at a hefty price.

The more powerful I become, the less I find more meals to devour. I tried experimenting this theory on the several undead corpses I collected after the battle. In hindsight, I can no longer gain any substantial boost from the zombies, crawlers, and bulkiers.

It sucks but I immediately concluded that those three are now considered obsolete due to the gap in power I possess. The thing I also observed from this phenomenon is that each type of zombies differ in power level of threat level. Regular zombies are obviously the lowest of the bunch, next is the crawlers, the bulkiers, and surprisingly a Digger. To confirm this, I bit on each of them to study how much boost they provide. As expected, nothing. Not completely though since I can feel a small familiar sensation on my body but I still didn't get any power up. I could feel a high tingle when I ate a part of the bulkier. I tried the same thing with the crawler but it's barely there and the regular zombies didn't gave me anything at all. The feelings are there but still no boosts.

In comparing the bulkier and the Digger, I may have overestimated the bulkiers due to its strength and size differences from the Digger but what they lack in power makes up for their better intellect. The Digger while as dumb as it can get makes up for its massive size and incredible power. A single swipe already broke my arm the last time I fought it. I only defeated it because of its unusual weakness to its eye.

While I'm training my ass off everyday, I didn't forget to include Whity as well. I gave him intense exercises and new techniques to improve his battle prowess. I'm also working on his new armor to aid him in his defense. Although some of the exercises are necessary, I know that it won't be enough to fight some of the more powerful zombies. I'm planning to make him strong enough to face sentients like me. I can't leave him I the dusts. Doing so would make him a liability in the future. Despite my power now, I know I'm not that strong. Labak is weak despite proudly claiming himself as a sentient. He mentioned that others like hum are likely more powerful and cunning than him so I have to catch up.

I flip in the air dodging multiple projectiles and punched the nearby android that collapses upon impact.

The days I spent training had improved my perception and focus. I have no need to increase my agility for now. I have to control my new found strength and speed first before I improvise. Moving in a speed that is unnatural for a human tend to be quite a headache. I'm having trouble controlling my legs causing me crash into walls and furniture. And trying to control my strength is on another level of headache of its own. Just to put it simply, every thing I touch breaks instantly. It felt like I'm in a super squishy world. I can bend steel like hotdogs, crush boulders like their giant ball of biscuits. The one time I tried to take a shit, my shit went through the other side of the toilet because I couldn't control my ass.

I shit on the bushes from then on. Everything just felt like an egg and if I can't control this in due time, I may crush Whity if I try to hug him. I'm also well aware that Whity can't get more powerful due to our difference in biology so I opted an easy solution to close our gap...with drugs.

No, not that type of drugs. What I meant is an enhancement drugs. Kinda like a super serum. I will prepare on for him that will enhance all senses along with his strength and healing regeneration. Whity will be half immortal once I'm finished and in this way, I will have my trusted friend behind my back all the time.

I dropped to the floor with a thud. All around me is a scattered remains of every android I fought. I'm still getting used to my evolved state.

This feeling of touch, breathing the air, it felt marvelous. Technically I'm still an undead but it also made me feel human again. I can feel everything, the wind, the cold, the warm temperature of this room. I can taste with my tongue and I no longer had a body that looks like it's days away from crumbling. I look healthy but I still can't feel my heartbeat. My body still felt cold like that of a corpse. My face...is unfortunately still ugly as heck. The moment I had the time, I went to my room and look myself in the mirror

My body is lean shaped with a few muscles in the right place. I have also grown a hair but it's green in color. I look like a cosplayer however it fails in comparison to the revulsion I felt when I stared at my face.

I have huge eyebags that almost covered all my check bones, my eyes are redish which is at least not all bad however I have no nose and I have no lips. The lower part of my face looks like it was mauled by a bear. I just can't stand to look at it so I put on a white mask. It covered half of my face, leaving my eyes and forehead visible to the world. I don't think I'll take this off anytime soon.

New goal: restore my face.

I went to my house and rest for awhile to regain my strength. My house is finally finished by the way. I made it a one heck of a fortress. It was littered with traps everywhere. The only ones that can enter is Whity, me, and my trusted drones.

The drones inside the house will only serve as security, housekeeping, and nothing else. I made sure that each of them cannot be hacked by any means. Considering that this planet is leaps and bounds ahead of technological advancement compared to my earth, I have to step up. I installed hundreds of failsafe and traps to those hackers that would dare. Anyone who tries would sure to get their devices showered with millions of computer viruses.

I sat on my chair as I look at the window. Progress is still underway. I'm thinking of making a new armor soon. The last one was so poorly damaged that I have to disregard it. I need a new type of element that has greater density than my previous one. A type that can survive attacks from a fellow sentient. Labak showed me enough that their strength can easily destroy anything so the element must be something that even I can't break.

I need some sort of information gatherer too. Something that can relay information without being seen.

Haa...so much to do. After some time, I stood up and went to start creating a new element.

...

...

I retire at my chair for the night. I've just noticed that being a sentient requires a some sort of sleep. I don't literally have to sleep of course. Being an undead gave me privilege of not needing to sleep. However to regain my strength, I need to be still for a couple of minutes or hours depending on how active you are for a whole day. Considering that I have been working nonstop from early morning till afternoon, I need a hefty 6 hours of being still. Overworking both body and mind sure left me like a husk. Staying still without doing anything feels weird so I close my eyes sometime and try to see if I can still dream.

I still can. I can't help but chuckle. A zombie being able to dream is quite absurd. Not that it's that surprising. This world has a giant worm zombie, An orc like zombie, and those that has special powers like me. A dreaming zombie fails in comparison to those things. With that said, I closed my eyes and enter the world of slumber.

...

Morning came up and I resume my daily schedule. Work, train, and work again however I'm suddenly notified by a sudden alarm. I looked at the footage from the camera outside the wall and saw a lone figure standing beside a tree...
