Chapter 68 - The X ship and the IA.

As soon as the introductions were made, I sat down next to the aunt and prepared to listen to the plans. Professor Xavier stood beside the individual codenamed Beast, who introduced himself as Hank.

Hank, with his slightly bestial and completely blue body, clicked on some technological devices, making holograms appear in the middle of the table.

The location shown was an island, seemingly surrounded by some sort of energy shield. At its center, there appeared to be thick, sturdy walls, difficult to penetrate. Inside the terrain, there seemed to be artillery or similar defense systems, serving as means of both defense and attack. Additionally, though not clearly visible, there were a few soldiers and distinct guards stationed at various points. However, the images soon became blurry due to apparent interference from the military base's system.

"This is the base, located in country N, on a small island in Central America. It is protected by heavy military defense, including some sort of energy shield. They also have high-level ballistic defenses, soldiers, and a sophisticated alert system, which complicates our invasion. Our goal is to disable these systems to facilitate the arrival of the individual known as Immortal."

"As confirmed by others here at the table, he will be able to exploit an opening in the barrier to invade the base discreetly, using his own abilities to deactivate alarms and defense systems with a virus we've developed."

After hearing this, I raised my hand.

"How are we planning to disable the defensive systems?"

Hank responded calmly.

"We will use Blink. She will employ her spatial abilities to create a small fissure in the barrier. Through her, we'll plan both the entry and exit of our ship."

Upon hearing this, I interrupted.

"I'll use my own abilities. That way, she can conserve her energy for the likely combat on the island and for the safe retreat from the barrier."

I spoke calmly. I had more than one way to enter the location without difficulty. In fact, it might be easier for me to grant them entry using one of my powers. However, I hadn't planned on interfering with their strategy—only spoke now because it would be easier for me.

"Once we infiltrate the base and the alert systems are disabled, the focus will shift to infiltration and the liberation of the mutants. Combat is possible but should be avoided whenever possible. Our team is equipped to restrict enemy movement or move quickly to evade combat. Of course, we also have powerful fighters capable of significant destruction," Hank said, gesturing toward Storm and Iceman, both of whom possessed both restrictive and destructive abilities. Though he didn't point to me, it was slightly implied, even though the others didn't fully understand my combat capabilities.

"The virus will also reduce defensive measures and technological systems. I will assist in hacking while the professor will use Cerebro to control some of their minds, facilitating the invasion and identifying living enemies," Hank added.

Following this, Professor Xavier stepped forward to explain a few more points. Afterward, everyone went to change, and we gathered at the ship. Specifically, the professor took me there first.

We walked through the large corridors of the school, and eventually, he led me to a hidden area in the mansion. He pressed a small panel, entered a password, and wooden walls opened, revealing a metal door in the shape of an X. Once the metal door was open, I entered alongside him, pushing his wheelchair.

The corridors ahead had a futuristic, technological feel, which was impressive. Passing through these and recalling the secret entrance to the mansion, I couldn't help but reflect on how this world was one of heroes and strangeness—it seemed fitting for there to be a secret hideout.

After passing through a few rooms, we arrived at a larger space. More specifically, we stopped in front of a door, and the professor spoke to me.

"This room houses our school's main technological means of transportation. It's used for missions to protect mutants and for other special occasions."

"We call it the X-Jet."

As he finished speaking, adding a touch of drama to the scene, the large metal door opened, revealing a vast underground space. At the center of this area was a large, sleek, and elegant jet with a dark metallic hue, exuding advanced technology and power. The jet was relatively large, and its shape resembled an X, with elongated wings and a streamlined body.

I pushed him forward and observed it closely. My eyes glowed with a cool hue, and with my enhanced vision, I meticulously scanned the jet, intrigued by its strangeness. The technology seemed far more advanced than anything I had seen elsewhere. I wondered if it was built using mutant abilities.

"danger, leave everything ready" ," the professor said, and I looked at him curiously, intrigued by whom he was addressing.

A voice soon echoed through the room.

"Everything is ready, professor."

It had a robotic, feminine tone, and given my familiarity with AIs, I quickly recognized that it was an artificial intelligence.

"An AI?" I asked, out of curiosity.

The professor looked at me with a calm and soft smile.

"As expected from you. Indeed, this is an AI designed to protect our school and the mutants associated with it, as well as to assist in missions with similar goals."

I nodded in acknowledgment. Besides the Anturian, I knew of Jarvis and now danger. I couldn't help but wonder what would happen if they interacted... though that wasn't something I could explore right now.

That made me turn my eyes back, and from there, I watched the group members enter. It was an interesting sight; they were all wearing black outfits with a slight shine, which seemed to be made of some kind of elastic and resistant fabric. Their entrance truly resembled that of a group of superheroes or something similar. The professor next to me smiled proudly.

"Good, with everyone here. Let's board the ship."

Hearing his voice, they all climbed aboard and took their seats. The ship itself seemed to be piloted by Danger.

"The ship is departing. Please, everyone, take your positions."

As soon as the AI spoke, the seatbelts wrapped around the people, and the energy engines began to power up. The ship slowly rose into the air as the underground platform opened, allowing it to fly. Along the way, its cloaking system was activated, rendering it invisible and undetectable by various alert systems and sonars.

I watched the advanced technology of the ship and its camouflage system being engaged, carrying us far away from the location at a speed that surpassed military jets.

[...]

A few meters away from a small island and the military base located on it, the X-ship hovered above the ocean with a surprisingly silent motion.

I unfastened my seatbelt and headed toward the ship's escape area.

"Will you be alright, Immortal? Don't you want to use one of the jetpacks or get someone's help?"

Iceman's voice came from beside me, asking with subtle concern. Blink also seemed worried. Meanwhile, the professor had a knowing look. Hank and Angel appeared calm, with a strong sense of curiosity, while Auntie seemed quite relaxed.

"Don't worry, I'm more than capable."

I responded with a calm voice and jumped off the ship. My body plummeted at high speed toward the ocean. Just a few meters from it, the wind started gathering around me and beneath my feet.

I "landed" a few meters above the water's surface, my eyes glowing, able to see meters and even kilometers away. Without hesitation, my body accelerated forward, while my presence diminished thanks to the use of zetsu and the capabilities of my suit, which was protected by the blessing of the goddess of night and darkness.
