Chapter 108 - Vampires?

MC POV

My parents haven't returned from their trip yet and should be back in about a month or so. Since it's the weekend, I decided to prepare a very special lunch, moving around the kitchen and shifting between various stations. For today's lunch, I'm making oven-roasted meat with tomato sauce and assorted vegetables and roots, including potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, cabbage, broccoli, and eggplant.

As a side dish, I'm preparing fried rice with eggs, bacon, and boiled bananas—a Brazilian dish. Alongside that, I'll make a pumpkin cream.

"Pete, for the cream, you need to make sure everything is mashed and very creamy, or it'll lose its special flavor."

"Okay, my love," he replied.

I smiled softly, watching Peter as he worked hard to prepare one of the side dishes.

My cute little brother was setting the table. Every few seconds, I'd see him appear in the kitchen to grab plates and glasses, then vanish in a wisp of light smoke.

"Kurt, try not to use your teleportation so much around the food. The smell of sulfur will seep into the dishes," I commented to my brother while using my wand to dispel the smell.

Taking advantage of the wand in my hand, I decided to speed things up with lunch. I waved it gently in the air. Carefully, various ingredients began gathering around me—pie dough, fillings, cream, cinnamon, and sugar. Within moments, they came together to form an apple pie, which was instantly ready. A delicious, fragrant aroma filled the room, and with a small nudge, the pie floated to a spot on the table.

We continued cooking, and about ten minutes after everything was done, our guest arrived.

I smiled as I opened the door. To my surprise, it seemed our lunch guests had arrived together. Standing outside were two small groups of two people each.

One was a man carrying a cane and wearing dark glasses—Matthew. Beside him was his girlfriend and reporter, Karen Page.

Next to them stood Aunt Oro, dressed casually but elegantly. Beside her, wearing a large coat, was Hank. I noticed Page glancing at him with intense curiosity, but I didn't sense any hostility or aggression, so I let it slide.

"Welcome," I said, smiling as I invited the four of them in.

Inside, we ate while discussing various topics. Page, being a reporter, was especially interested in matters related to mutants, leading her to engage in lengthy conversations with Aunt Oro and Hank. The same went for Pete, who, as a photographer and junior reporter—though not his main focus—was intrigued.

Matt also shared his knowledge of law, including new legislations and resolutions.

As for me, I wasn't too invested in the conversations. Instead, I played around with my brother and occasionally chimed in with light opinions.

Note: A unique lunch. I find it interesting to imagine this type of "ordinary" scene featuring "extraordinary" people.

At night, Pete and I resumed our usual duties as vigilantes. This time, we decided to make it a vigilante date, flying together through the air. Spider-Man swung with his webs, moving at high speed with leaps and agile movements, while I used my ancient power—the sound of the wind—to keep up with him. At times, I teleported or apparated, using the opportunity to practice my skills.

Along the way, Pete would leap and deliver powerful kicks, sending enemies flying. At other times, he'd punch and knock them back. He also used his webs and electricity to bind and incapacitate opponents.

Meanwhile, I took down foes with swift and precise strikes, employing wind attacks and various spells or enchantments.

"Stupefy! Stupefy!"

My wand, topped with a rainbow-colored gem, glowed as it cast two spells, sending two individuals flying and rendering them unconscious.

The other two assailants, armed more heavily than usual, were dealt with by Spider-Man. One was kicked into a wall, and the other ended up wrapped in webs, looking like a captured prey.

After securing the four of them, I snapped a few photos and had Anturian call the police to take them into custody.

"Let's go," I said, and the red-and-blue-clad hero agreed. He leaped and swung on a web attached to a nearby building, while I followed on a swift gust of wind and small tornadoes.

While traversing the city, I stopped as my eyes caught an unusual scene a few meters away. I focused more mental energy and internal power on my sight.

In a nearby alley, I spotted what appeared to be a man and a woman attacking two other individuals. Oddly enough, they seemed to be biting the necks of their victims. What was even stranger was the aura and unusual energy radiating from the pair. I could sense the life energy of their victims diminishing.

"Immortals?" I muttered.

Peter, scaling a nearby pole, looked at me curiously. "Spider-Man, there's unusual activity in that direction... It's strange, so I'll go ahead. Stay behind me and don't let them get too close to you."

He seemed puzzled by my words but nodded in agreement. I quickly advanced toward the unusual individuals.

Having encountered witches, sorcerers, and even aliens in this world, the scene reminded me of creatures straight out of fantasy—a potentially tricky situation to handle.

....

I landed in the alley without making a sound.

I confirmed the unusual energy emanating from them, as well as the life force being drained from the two individuals, along with red droplets falling from their necks where they'd been bitten.

Understanding that this could be fatal, I decided to strike first. Raising both hands together, I spoke:

"Ice Make: Spear."

A bluish circle appeared, and from it, several ice spears formed and were launched. The attack naturally drew the enemies' attention. They leaped away quickly, though one was struck in the leg by a spear.

Leaving their victims behind, both turned to face me.

Their eyes glowed with a dominant, dangerous red hue. The one hit by the spear broke it with sheer strength, and I saw his wound begin to heal at an incredible speed.

Observing them closely, I noticed their sharp, threatening fangs.

"Well, gentlemen, would you happen to be vampires?"

"Who are you? Your aura is unusual... and you seem capable of using magic. Are you a sorcerer or a witch? As far as I know, sorcerers are not supposed to meddle too much in the affairs of our kind, according to the pact made with King Dracula centuries ago."

Hearing his words, I looked at him with infinite intrigue and curiosity. Pete had just landed beside me. Upon hearing the words "vampires" and "Dracula," he was clearly intrigued but said nothing.

"I'm not part of the sorcerers' group, nor am I exactly a witch. I just don't like you killing people randomly in the area I protect. As such, I kindly ask you to leave. You've already had a bit to eat, so that should be enough for you to retreat." I spoke with a calm, diplomatic smile.

I don't know to what extent they need this vitality and blood to survive, so I'm not in a position to judge them. However, at least in the area I protect, I don't allow them to act freely.

Obviously, my seemingly "arrogant" and territorial words didn't sit well with them. Furthermore, my claim that I didn't belong to the sorcerer group seemed to both delight and reassure the vampires.

After that, the two didn't seem interested in continuing the conversation. One of them charged at me with sharp claws, aiming to pierce my body.

I was able to follow his movements with ease—my Haki and my eyes tracked every motion. My sword appeared in my right hand and clashed with his claws.

"Honestly, that's quite an aggressive approach."

My aura immediately shifted to something powerful and hostile.

Silver energy tinged with black enveloped my sword, and with simple, swift movements, I unleashed two energy strikes. They shattered the vampire's claws and sent him staggering forward.

As I moved my sword to deliver more strikes, the fact that his claws had been broken made him more cautious. Moreover, he seemed fearful of my attacks, which could apparently harm the soul.

My senses remained fixed on the other individual. I observed that Pete was managing to keep a safe distance, using his strength, agility, and keen senses to avoid their attacks. He was firing small bursts of bio-energy and various web attacks.

Seeing that he was holding his ground defensively, I decided to lend a bit of support.

"Ice Make: Eagle."

I created a medium-sized ice eagle and directed it to assist Spider-Man.

Meanwhile, I moved my left hand.

"Ice Make: Great Ice Sword."

A massive bluish ice sword materialized in the air, clashing with an attack of claws and brute force coming my way.

"Apologies, I just wanted to help my companion. Don't get jealous," I said with a slightly mischievous smile.

I swung the sword, releasing a large trail of silver energy aimed at cutting the smaller vampire in half.
