Chapter 14 - Arcane Arts

Vergil's Perspective

I finally understood why Father asked me if I was ready, why May was hesitant.

"Lets do another round, Young Master," May said, excitement evident in her voice.

"Huff... huff... huff... wait, May... Give me a break.... I... need to catch... my breath," I replied, panting heavily.

We had been sparring continuously for over 2 hours. Initially enthusiastic, I now regretted my decision. May was ruthless, showing no hesitation to target my vulnerable areas. She had even brought a potion to heal injuries, a fact that didn't escape my notice. If not for my intuition and adaptability, I could have been seriously injured multiple times. And now, she wasn't even giving me a chance to catch my breath.

"Young Master, we can have one more," May persisted.

"No, no more," I protested, traumatized by the experience.

"It's time for breakfast, May, and I need to study for my entrance exam," I said, grasping for excuses.

"Oh, you're right, Master. I lost track of time. Let's end it here today," May conceded, realizing it was getting late.

With a mix of relief and resignation, I mentally prepared myself for tomorrow's training session.

As we headed back to the estate, I couldn't help but resentfully glare at Father, who was trying to hide his smile.

"Traitor," I muttered silently, knowing he was fully aware of May's intensity yet didn't warn me.

"Vergil dear, how is your training going?" Mother inquired as she served me food.

"It's going well, Mother. I'm learning a lot from Sir Gareth and May," I replied, forcing a smile.

"May? Is May also teaching you?" Mother asked, her curiosity piqued.

"Yes, from today onwards, I'll be sparring with May," I answered, avoiding her gaze.

"Be careful with May; she... sometimes gets a little too excited," Mother warned, coming to May's defense.

"Yes, I'll be careful," I assured her, though inwardly, I was trying to convince myself that everything would be okay.

"Also, your father has already told you about the banquet, right?" Mother inquired.

"Yes, he's already informed me," I replied, not wanting to delve into further details.

"Well, I've prepared the dress for you," Mother said, excitement evident in her voice.

I didn't press for more information. After finishing breakfast, I headed to the library in search of Aura arts.

To progress to a 2-star swordsman, I needed to master an Art. I remembered the library had ancient tomes on both magic and swordsmanship. As I approached the section with the required books, I could feel the pull of their spirituality. However, I knew I had to resist these temptations and stay focused.

The library held numerous ancient arts, but only two in swordsmanship and three in magic caught my attention.

Facing the two aura tomes, I relied on instinct, closing my eyes and focusing solely on my gut feeling.

'Right or left?' I pondered, hovering my hand over the books.

As my hand reached the left book, I felt a connection, a resonance. Opening my eyes, I grasped the book—an obsidian tome with pages as dark as midnight, edged in golden hues.

Upon opening it, a blinding light emanated from within, flooding the library with its brilliance. Blinking against the glare, I found myself immersed in a breathtaking celestial vista—a boundless expanse of the night sky adorned with twinkling stars and swirling galaxies. Then, a voice reverberated through the cosmos.

"WHY DO YOU DESIRE POWER?"

The voice echoed within me, probing my soul. I answered without hesitation.

"For survival and protection. I seek strength to navigate this world and shield myself from its threats."

Silence followed, stretching into an eternity, until the voice spoke again.

"APPROVED YOU SHALL INHERIT MY LEGACY.NEVER FORGET THE REASON FOR YOUR STRENGHT FOR MY NAME IS....."

As the name reverberated through the cosmos, the celestial vista shattered like glass, and I repeated the name aloud.

"Voidblade Attunement."

As i said the name the ancient tome disintegrating into motes of light that infused my mind with knowledge, I felt an overwhelming flood of information.

"uhhh ..... so much ... information" I said as my head starting to throb with pain

But it would seem I have quite a formidable art, and it would seem that this art is perfect for me. This art requires a person with sense of space, so it fits very well with me.

"My luck seems very good " as I thought

Now looking at the magic tome, Again closing my eyes I began to search for the book as I moved my hand over the books, again I felt something when I moved my hand over the middle book.

I took out the book, the book is dark green in color with golden stripes and a mysterious circle on the cover. I opened the book, this time instead of a blinding light I felt golden chain wrapping around my self, before I could react I saw myself standing in a golden realm with numbers floating around I saw golden spiral in the sky

"where am I" I said as my voice echoed around

all around we was golden mist as it obstructed my view and I could hear a rhythming, as I tried to look around I moved after some time I could hear a small voice I listened closely and, I heard

"In a land where magic weaves its might, A puzzle lies veiled in the shadows of night. Its form holds the essence of ages gone by, Yet its secret remains hidden, beyond the eye.

With sands that flow not as the mortal's decree, But as whispers of destiny, wild and free. Through past and through future, its grains do roam, In this enigmatic relic, what is its home?

Though its glass may seem still, its power unbound, In the Mist, what mystery is found?"

It was a puzzle

"it would seem I need to solve this puzzle" I looked around for any clues but all I could hear was

Tick tick tick tock tock tock

then suddenly it dawned on me

"Time the mystery is time" I said

As I said the golden mist flew away revealing a large golden clock on which a pointer moving around made the sound I Could see an infinite amount of golden gears intertwined in a strange yet stunning way.

As I was marveling at the scenery I saw a large wall. I moved towards there and saw some words written there in ancient language but I was able to understand it said

"Master time, lest it master you. In the dance of existence, command the rhythm of moments, for those who wield time shape destiny."

I felt a chill from these words I placed my hand on the tome and then all the world cracked

I opened my eyes and said the name

"Chronoethermancy"

Again the Tome entered my brain and I felt a familiar headache this time it was so severe that my nose began to heal

cast spell: soothing embrace I cast a healing spell on myself, than the bleeding stopped

"It was dangerous but I managed it. I got some pretty complex and mysterious arts. I will have comprehend them all slowly" I said to myself

Even though I have all the knowledge in my brain but if I don't understand it useless. I have to slowly comprehend the meaning behind this vast knowledge
