Chereads / Mystic Tales : [Elven] Romēio and Juliette / Chapter 4 - Persisted Heart - Act 3

Chapter 4 - Persisted Heart - Act 3

Rosaline chuckled and mused, "I wonder what's different this time compared to your first encounter at the ball. In the Original Timeline, Juliette told me that there was no way you could've met so early..."

While contemplating the change in their story, Romeo responded, "It's as if fate itself is conspiring to bring us together sooner, to give us a chance to change the course of our love story."

The mysteries of their altered timeline continued to intrigue them both.

Romeo spoke somewhat awkwardly, "Oh, you probably doubt that our love is not solely based on fate, huh? Like if I remember the same story she told you..."

Rosaline gasped, "You too? How perceptive... So Juliette was right. While you were still unconscious, she informed me that she was relieved you shared the same, um, memories..."

Their shared memories and the realization that they both held onto them only deepened the mystery of the unusual events in their lives.

Romeo, still feeling the effects of his fever, exhaled weakly and asked, "Still, Rosaline... What's your opinion about me, based on how Juliette described the part to you from the original timeline about you having an arranged engagement with me?"

Rosaline pondered for a moment before answering, "Well, it certainly was a complicated situation, but it's clear that your feelings for Juliette were true and passionate. It's hard not to admire that."

Romeo appreciated her understanding and honesty, even as they navigated the complexities of their past and present.

Rosaline shared her perspective in continuation: "You are not my type, being impulsive and too reckless, maybe even childish. Yet somehow, due to your fever or some miracle, you give off a different aura now. What has changed?"

Romeo, still experiencing the aftereffects of his fever, replied, "I suppose surviving a near-death experience can bring about some self-reflection and maturity. Perhaps that's the change you're sensing."

Their candid conversation allowed them to get to know each other better, even if the circumstances were far from ordinary.

Rosaline gasped, realizing that Romeo knew the same details as Juliette did, and she exclaimed, "Even that detail too, like Juliette did, oof... that truly is haunting..."

She was about to say more but awkwardly shrieked as she used a bed pillow to hide Romeo's face and presence when Nurse Nana came in, asking who Rosaline was talking to while Juliette prepared breakfast.

Their efforts to keep Romeo's presence a secret from Nurse Nana were essential to maintain the cover story they had devised.

Rosaline, with the pillow still hiding Romeo, quickly covered up the situation. She chuckled nervously and said to Nurse Nana, "Oh, it's nothing, Nurse. I was just having a little conversation with myself. You know how us young people can be. But please, carry on with your duties. We don't want to keep you from your important work."

Nurse Nana raised an eyebrow but decided not to press further. She nodded and continued with her tasks, leaving Rosaline to her conversation with Romeo, who was still hidden behind the pillow.

Rosaline finally removed the pillow, revealing Romeo, and she apologized, "I'm sorry, Romeo. We have to be very careful here, given the circumstances and our families' history."

Romeo, still feeling unwell, nodded and replied, "It's all right. I understand, especially considering this is the Capulet household."

Juliette entered the room with a tray of food and locked the bedroom door behind her. She noticed the situation and asked, "What happened here?"

Rosaline explained, "Romeo had a fever, and we were just chatting. Nothing to worry about."

Juliette smiled and said, "Well, I'm glad he's awake and getting better. Let's enjoy our breakfast together."

They proceeded to share their meal, a moment of normalcy amidst the unusual circumstances they found themselves in.

Juliette gently fed Romeo as he was still feeling weak, and he asked, "Why were you so concerned about Nurse Nana? Rosalina did manage to cover up my presence earlier, after all."

Juliette chuckled softly and replied, "It's just that we need to be extra cautious, my love. We don't want any unexpected surprises or questions. But I'm glad you're here with us now."

The trio continued their breakfast, savoring the moments they could spend together in this new, unexpected timeline.

Rosalina chuckles "By the way Romeo these dishes…it wasn't made by Family servants no..if you want to get to know Juliette she actually made by herself the one she is having us eat right now.."

Romeo was pleasantly surprised as he continued to eat, "Really? You made this, Juliette? It's delicious."

Juliette smiled a hint of pride in her eyes. "Yes, I did. I enjoy cooking, and it's one of the things I wanted to share with you."

Rosalina added, "You're in for a treat, Romeo. Juliette's a fantastic cook."

Romeo's appetite seemed to return as he took over feeding himself, savoring the delicious meal Juliette had prepared. He couldn't help but express his enjoyment, "This is fantastic! You're an amazing cook, Juliette."

Juliette beamed at his compliment, happy to see him recovering. It was a moment of normalcy in their relationship, and they cherished it.

Then he almost choke and relieved he gulps and cover his burp with his arm as Juliette gasp "I still didn't expect this side of you being foodie before.."

Romeo chuckled, slightly embarrassed, "Well, I suppose there are many sides to me you're discovering in this new timeline." He continued to eat, more aware of his appetite but still enjoying Juliette's cooking.

Romeo's blush deepened as Rosalina teased him, and Juliette couldn't help but join in the playful banter, "Is that so, Romeo? Perhaps you've just discovered a newfound love for Juliette's cooking."

Romeo, trying to save some face, retorted with a grin, "Well, I suppose I'm just appreciating her culinary skills now. And I have to admit, it's a pleasant surprise."

Their light-hearted banter added a sense of normalcy and joy to the new timeline they were navigating.

Then finally everyone is done eating as they prepare to send the trays away , Romeo for serious as his fever got milder thanks to some medicine "Still wait Juliette..shall we take this opportunity if you believe it's a Right time to test if we can convince my family and yours just a little to get along by knowing you are taking care of me.."

Juliette and Rosalina exchanged a thoughtful look, understanding the gravity of the suggestion. Juliette nodded and spoke, "It might be a risk, but if we handle it delicately, it could be a step toward bringing our families closer. However, we should plan our approach carefully."

Romeo, still a bit feverish, looked determined, "I'm willing to try. I don't want to repeat the mistakes of the past. Together, we can make a difference."

Rosalina scratched her head "How? Me and Mercutio already made an excuse you are under my care of my household.."

uliette pondered for a moment and then said, "Perhaps we could arrange a meeting, a gathering of our families in a neutral, public place. We'll need to choose a setting where they can interact without feeling too pressured. And, of course, we should have a plan in case things don't go well."

Romeo agreed, "That sounds reasonable. We need to show them that our love can bring harmony, not strife."

Rosalina nodded, "Alright, we can organize such an event discreetly and make sure it's as stress-free as possible. It's worth a try."

With a plan in motion, they set their sights on the challenge of bringing their feuding families together.

Romeo drinks some warm milk to help him sleep "yet since Both our friends already made an excuse maybe after some time for rest of me..I can also help come up with a better plan.." yawn as he sleeps and even drools as Rosalina whispers to Juliette as she leave with the empty tray "You sure about this? I mean letting him sleep at your bedroom and NOW he is drooling? Did you know before he drool in his sleep?"

Juliette chuckled softly, "No, I didn't know that. It's quite endearing, actually. But let's focus on the bigger picture. We have a chance to change our fate, and if it involves a little drooling in the process, so be it."

Rosalina smiled, "You're right, Juliette. Let's make the most of this opportunity."

As Romeo slept, their plans began to take shape, and the two young women hoped that their efforts would lead to a brighter future for their love and their families.
