Yo! Author-san here!
As I promise, this FIC is not death, and here is the proof.
This is a more theoretical chapter, not so much system or duels involved, but I like it, so no refunds!
Enjoy!

Haakon POV
Ugh! who ever said that no good deeds goes unpunished was an asshole, he wasn't wrong, but an asshole regardless.
After that late night duel with the the kids, because let's be honest here, I'm like 26 regardless of this body age, they are like 18-20 at best, maybe someone is older but not more than 23, still when I see them, I see kids....dumb kids at that.
I passed the rest of the night admiring my new Pot of Greed, god i soooooo much needed it, talking with my new birdy friends was.....complicated but insightful
A lot to unpack there, but the gimmicks are simple, the higher my BA LVL is, the higher the LVL of monsters I could communicate and bond as my KA is.
The more powerful my KA, the better the results, draw power, and so on, tho, LVL are not always all, look at Relinquish, that's a LVL1 but damn, he is powerful, and don't get me start about his fusion form.
So, anyway, I proceeded to bond with all the LVL 1 Floos in my deck, even Despian Tragedy, I'm already feeling stronger and faster, given time, I'm pretty much would be an immortal duelist roaming the earth, the epitome of humanity.....if I'm even human by that point, meh, thing for the future.
I also did some searching and pull some cards, the new pack end up being the "Master pack", anything can be there, but pulling something you actually want was almost impossible, so I did spend all my SDP there hoping that some UR was dropped, and a new pack added...it didn't work, lots of UR but non-new pack added, I guess it doesn't work like in the game
I didn't sleep shit, I spend the rest of the night breaking a lot of dupes and get my self a nice amount of resources, and let me tell yo my new deck was smocking hot.
Furthermore, I was thinking in what direction was my Despia strategy should be going
Do I go for the Bystials control, the Gimmick lock or a mix of all, then i tho, "hey why don't I have 2 Despia decks"
One for me coming like a bulldozer without brakes on the enemies ass
And another for the Disrespect, a.k.a., "3 tax dragons in one turn in a 4k LP format fuck you deck"
So yeah, also my Floo was wonderful now, a lot more consistent
I just need some cards from the school shop now, some forbidden "not so much" cards, Painful Choice + Tearlaments sounds lovely right now, maybe for later,
The day here start early let me tell you, who would have tho the academy has more than just classes to teach young adults a children's card game, there are some core classes that all alumni must go, but those are like 3 or 4, the rest you can sign up for what you want, Illustration and Imagination for card designers, Logics and repercussions for effects, Literature and creativity for naming cards, even Economics and Publicity management,
All things related to duel monster be it in the limelight or the back industry is here to learn, and you have to chose 2 of those electives per year, as I said, you choose, but 2 regales, 8 hrs of school per day.
Well, 9 for me and my students, but only when I teach. Also, is my class an official elective or an extra thing?..... I really need to have that chat with the Chancellor….and my salary…would be bad if I ask an advance on that?
Meh, Kaiba is founding this place, they have the money or DP, whatever that convention function as.....unless DP IS the money here…huh….food for thoughts
As I keep giving myself world shattering questions, a pair of trouble kids a.k.a. my friend runs to me
Jaden: Yo! Haakon, going to class?
Syrus: Of course he is Jai, and so are we, if we don't want to be late, in our first day of school
Haakon: I hope you two are, this is a school dude, is for what we sign coming here
He scratch his back head as a silly laugh escape his lips, gods this guy is hopless, yet you can't hate that carefree attitude, an MC charisma at is fullest.
Haakon: Ok, OK, let's go, first class is Card Theories with Crowler, it's sound interesting at least
Class POV
This was not interesting, at all, it has been 30 min and i already fell asleep twice!
Type of spell cards? Who the fuck doesn't know that, the difference between traps and spells ? This is a mockery, this game has been running for years now, how is this not in a manual or something!
As I keep ranting in my head for the tremendous stupidity of this word common knowledge, I hear Jaden mocking Crowler over some Slifer thing, huh, funny and true.
Crowler my have been humble by yours truly, and he may be more approachable for what I have been hearing, but, he keeps going for the slackers, not the Slifers in general, but it takes time to change one's mannerisms
Crowler: Enough!, since this slacker can't answer, may someone with a higher I.Q answer, hmmm, Signore Haakon may you answer!
Ok time for a show
Haakon: Yeah about that, don't take this the wrong way, but I fell asleep when you start saying basic stuff
Wow, by the looks they are giving me, I may have made a mistake here
Crawley: Non taken!, if someone that has been given a teacher position by the Chancellor and the directive commission of KC needed to learn this first year curriculum, I would have already requested a transfer to another branch of the academy, it's basic stuff after all.
Murmurs could be heard, I see what you did there Crowler, already spreading my new position, that way they won't be as surprise or resentful when the Chancellor do the announcement
Ugh! some guys from Obelisk are giving me the stink eyes, others just acknowledge me in silent, not everybody was at my exam it seems. Good, now I know who I'm going to pick for duel demonstrations, there is no better way to learn than first suffer-HAND, by first hand
Crowler: I was asking what were the types of different spells in existence
Haakon: Sure, by different types do you mean by category, terminology, or speed?
He seems to ponder at my question, well he helped me just now, so I can give him some slack and save some face
Haakon: Sorry, my bad, you clearly ask me in general, so I will explain as such, I'm still sleepy here you see
Crowler: N-No, No, it's alright, as long as your exams are good you have the right to attend or not, as do anyone here, YET! we encourage our students to attend, especially first years, now back to the question if you may?
Haakon: Sure, let's see here, in Duel Monster there are 3 kinds of cards, Monsters, Traps and Spells
The Spells can be separated by types into, Normal, Equip, Quick, Continues, Field and Ritual Spells
By category, you have Staples, Archetypes and Techs cards, this can be applied to the other 2 kinds of cards too
Then is the Speed, Spells can be Speed 1, 2 or 4.
Is this a good enough answer, professor?
The auditorium is silent, every eyes on me.....did I say something wrong again?
Crowler: As expected of a duelist in your level Signore Haakon, even I have some difficulties understanding some of your terminology, may you explain them?
Huh, I guess it made sense, in this world, strategies, decks recipes and all that has more value than in my previous world, without the public knowledge some terms may not exist here.
Haakon: Sure, which ones?
Crawler: Staple, Tech, Archetype, and Speed 4, was it? I have heard of speed spell 1 to 3 but never of this 4 one.
Oh! Right, the Speeds 4 and 5 were terms use by duelist in my word to describe cards effect unaffected by speed 3 effects, they are not part of the game mechanics really
Again all eyes and ears on me, this is a good chance to probe my knowledge, if more people sing to my class, more money would I ask the Chancellor next semester if he wants to keep me here
Haakon : Ok, First, a Staple is a card that can go in any type of deck regardless of its end game or composition, for example, Harpy's Feather Duster is a Staple, one of the best back row removal cards, since it have the potential to destroy up to 6 cards for the cost of one
Heavy Storm is another one, Traps like Mirror Force too, Pot of Greed is the face card of the term, any deck can run it and is always useful, there are more limited Staple cards that only work in specific types of decks, but no matter the variation of it, they can be used in any of them too, that's a Staple.
A Tech is a card used for the purpose of supporting a deck with cards that help it run smoother, deal with cards that would counter the deck, or to combat specific deck builds
An example of the first would be Small Word, a card that can technically search any monster as long as you complete the requirements for such
An example of the last would be System Down for your Ancient Gear deck Professor,
If someone knows you use those cards, they can put cards in their deck that direct counter them, System Down for example, is a card that banish all machine monster on the field and graveyard of the opponent for a 1000 LP cost,
Or if someone use a spellcaster deck, one could put Last Day of Witch on his deck, a card that destroy all spellcasters on the field, of course this is only usable if you know your opponent deck before the duel, and have the cards to counter them available to you.
The Archetypes ones are simpler, they are cards that only work whiting a specific archetype, they are different from the ones that work on an attribute or type of monster.
An example, Reinforce of the Army is a spell card that search one LVL 4 or lower Warrior monster from the deck, its means is a warrior deck Staple that works well in almost any Archetype of warrior monsters like Jaiden E-Heros, while my own Despia Opening searches a Despia monster regardless of anything else, one is an attribute searcher, the other an Archetype searcher.
Of course, some cards enter in more than one of these categories, but they are specifics, so I'm leaving those out of this for now.
Kids of 10 could tell you that in my old world, here kids of 18 are eye widen and pondering like I just delivered the knowledge of the gods
Crowler: Magnificent!, a way to categorize the cards so well-defined, how has it not been published yet!
Haakon: Maybe because I made them? I Have Never been asked before, so never shared the knowledge of it?
Crowler: Remarkable!, we must have to contact the academy publisher department, they can help you to refine the wording and publish it under your name
Haakon: Nah, you can do it if you want, too much work, just put my name somewhere and take half the credit
Crawler: You sure!? This may give you a lot of recognition and money, Signore Haakon!
Haakon: Yeah, as I said, too much work.
Crowler: We would discuss this later with the Chancellor then, back on topic, what is this Speed 4?
Oh boy, time to bullshit, remember, remember…right!
Haakon: In the game there are 3 speeds mechanics established, Speed 1 and Speed 2 can be achieved by all 3 kinds of cards, most types are Speed 1, the Speed 2 or Quick Effect ones, are those that can be chained to a speed 1 effect or another Speed 2 effect
Monster with effects that can be active in Any player turn, Quick spells and most Trap cards are in that speed
Speed 3 is only presented in Counter Traps cards, they can be chained to a speed 1, 2 or 3 and can't be chained by anything but Speed 3 cards, Hench, another Counter Trap
Crowler: Yes, this is true, those are the speed rules of duel monsters indeed
Haakon: Then is the "theorized" Speed 4 and 5 effects
Crowler: Theorized?
Haakon: Yes, the game per se don't acknowledge this speeds in its general mechanics, this speeds only exist in very specific cards and are giving to them by they effects , not by game mechanics.
A Speed 4 effect is one that cant be chained by any other card or effect, not even a Counter Trap can be chained, they usually have a text like, "this card activation or effect can't be responded in any way" more or less
There are pseudo Speed 4 too that can't be chained by specific cards like spells or monsters, so aslong as your only way of stop them, is one of those, is not diferent that faceing a real Speed 4 effect.
Sometimes cards need some conditions to achieve this speed, since the cards by themselves would be Speed 1 or 2 in reality.
An example, Forbidden Droplet, it halves the ATK of monster and negates their effect up to the number of cards sent to the GY frome your field or hand, and the opponent can't chain cards or effect of those kinds of cards, monsters, spells or traps, that were used as cost for the activation, so if you sent as a cost a spell, a monster, and a trap
Crowler: The opponent can't respond in any way, Speed 4
Haakon: Yes, now, there is the Speed 5, this is a tricky one, but, thus are effects that work outside a chain
Crowler: Outside a chain? How do that work exactly?
Haakon: Because these effects work upon resolution.
Lets said that I have "this" card already on the field, then a series of chains happened, lets said a chain 5.
The effects resolve backwards, and by my opponent Chain 2 ,a monster effect on the field, I decide to activate or more like, implement the effect of the card that I said have in the field before
It can negate a monster effect on the field onece per turn outside a chain upon resolution, therefore the chain 2 effect is negated, and this negation can't be responded in any way, since it works outside the chain, that is still resolving.
I only know of two cards with effects like this, but sadly I don't have them, tho I can say that under the right conditions one of them can negate even Speed 4 effects.
Crowler : Mama Mia!, this is incredible, this must be published, no, this must be taught here in the academy, this profound knowledge must be share, it can jump the duelist standard by an unimaginable threshold!
Haakon: Well yeah, that why I'm a teacher here now, I will impart this and a lot more in my classes, so you all better come guys, the Chancellor anounce would be by the end of the week i belive, sorry I took time from your class Professor Crowler
Crowler: Nonsense!, this was an amazing lesson, that even I have learned, a session of applause for Signore, no, Professor Parvus please!
And just like that a cacophony of applause is given, tho I can tell, some are given just by obligation, seems not everyone understand my lesson. Will have to work on that later.
Huh, the guys look at me like I have 3 heads, come on Jai you invented…will invent Speed 4 dude, Sy, I have no words, you are just dumb, Alexis is staring me again, that's creepy girl!
Bastion keeps nodding and writing notes, I guess if someone would understand this would be him, Chazz is staring too, but that one I can understand, learn from the enemy and destroy him in his own ways, I can respect that.
Crowler: Ok, now back to the lesson!
And just like that the class return to its normal flaw, the teacher is teaching, the students are learning, and I'm back to my nap.
Life is good.
End of chapter.
