Chapter 40 - True master of the battlefield II

The battle was still in its nascent stage. Many from the allied forces fell every minute, but the barbaric forces of the Lyriel religion were slaughtered cleanly with ruthless barrages of attacks.

Adam, who was once just a normal infantry soldier led his own battalion like he was a commander. The hundred-man infantry soldiers had dwindled to twenty. The war was proving bloody and brutal. At first, he thought it would be like other simulation games where the pain was limited to a certain level to avoid causing severe brain damage.

Alas... He was totally wrong. The stabs, slashes and pummeling he received during the heat of battle made his stomach churn in discomfort as he felt like whining in the pain. His body was now covered in blood, the blood of his foes, fallen allies and his own blood. The brown leather armor he wore was soaked in blood that it felt like clothes drenched in scarlet rain. The echoes of screeches, screams, cries of agony, and the flesh-chopping sound reverberated in his being. His soul was aggrieved for the fall of those who wanted to protect themselves, their loved ones and society. He couldn't muster the courage to look behind, to stare at the carnage. He realized the true nature of weapons, but he hadn't gained enlightenment on it. If so, how was he going to realize the truth of war?

How was he going to continue? The smell of blood and the sight of pus made him groan in disgust. At first he felt he wasn't affected by all this, but on looking clearer, he felt these were memories of someone... someone who felt this. The war of the new era of the galaxy and the universe had changed, reducing gruesome sights, but the ancient and medieval style of war was truly...

He was feeling an urge that he couldn't understand, like his body wanting to reach the peak of sovereignty, but he couldn't comprehend it. He felt this strange power coursing through his veins like a revived engine. He felt a sudden external force capturing and slowly annihilating his emotions, but it was barely noticeable and easily negligible, but he felt it that one instance, something calling to his being.

[Push for the peak...]

[Bask in blood...]

[Clear all those who obstruct your path...]

[Free yourself from the shackles...]

[Remake everything...]

[Destroy everything...]

[Anything...]

Those faint, yet close calls ignited a little spark in him. Adam didn't know how to move on, but he forced himself. His stamina had reached its limits and his fatigue had built up skyhigh, but the faint spark filled him with determination, ready to destroy anything that doesn't allow him to reach his goal. A sudden influx of power, born from blood and his killing intent materialized. It formed into a domain of crimson mist around him.

"I don't know what this is, but I feel I'm going to be done with this shit soon. I won't die in here, no matter what! I'm Adam in power, but I'm Aries in will! None shall block my path, or bear my wrath!" Adam made his claim, with his voice audible throughout the battlefield. He pushed on, killing dozens with each strikes like a demon let lose from the deepest labyrinth of hell itself where even satan would grow pale and turn tails with dread.

It was a merciless carnage. One man kill hundreds minute after minute, but the Lyriel religion's reinforcement poured in like a man breathing in deeply, but Adam wiped them out like man breathing out softly, but non-ending. He basked in the blood of the dead, using his entire body as a weapon.

He ripped throats with his teeth, blow into soldiers' bodies with his fist and tore dozens in half with his spear. He became the true definition of war as his act sent chills through the spine of countless barbarians. They now became to wary of him, but they still fell to his wrath.

When did the alliance of the resistance, the sultanate and the guild have a madman like this guy? A question that remained unanswered.

Adam was like a beast let loose in fury, ready to devour just to satiate his neverending thirst for blood and hunger for carnage. The gore behind him depicted the deepest horror of the underworld that even Tartarus couldn't touch its feet talk less of holding a candle to it.

The sight of Adam, whose body was painted scarlet and crimson from blood like a demon, getting slashed but enjoying it like a masochistic warlord, wielding his spear like an extension of his own body and ruthlessly killing and toying with the enemies like they were puny, lowly preys in his sight, sent goosebumps through everyone's skin. Many screamed in horror as they got torn to pieces .

If Hades was here, he wouldn't dare to face this guy, who was still in his craze state. Was this the birth of a God of War? Nobody knew, but nobody cared.

Was this how life fell everyday before this battle? Nobody knew. These questions will never be answered. But one thing was for sure.

And that is...

He shall face the perpetrator of this Heretical religion sooner rather than later.

To be continued...
