Chereads / Darkness: Dawn Of Gods / Chapter 4 - Divine Meeting

Chapter 4 - Divine Meeting

Somewhere in space, all six of the higher ranked gods got together.

"Thank you for taking time out of your day to gather here," Said Voltaris, God of Lightning, "I know we're all busy and have stuff to take care of but something unexpected has happened."

He looked at everyone in the room and let out a deep breath, "The darkness has a new host again."

As a response, Terron, a young god who can control earth like no other, asked: "You're telling me that there's someone strong enough to be in control of the darkness, again?"

Animus, God of Spirits, responded to that: "I have already sent my spirits to see who the new darkness wielder is."

"And what did you find out?" Voltaris asked.

Animus smiled creepily, "It is nothing to worry about. The darkness wielder is just a child. However, I do find it weird that this child is able to enjoy his meal with a smile on his face, typically the darkness wielders do not adapt to it for months. His soul must be strongest out of everyone we have seen so far."

Illusia, God of illusions responded: "So what're we going to do about it? My hands are currently full so I can't go and retrieve the darkness from him."

Ahrimanoth, God of light and shadows replied: "Since it's a kid, we can surely send a lower ranked god to go and get the darkness."

Chronos, God of time stood up, "I know somebody we can send. He's fairly new but he's already proved himself to be stronger than some of the others."

In a relief, Voltaris sighed: "At least we got that out of the way..." And then continued, "We still have to worry about Wyrthan and his plan, I just hope he doesn't find out about the darkness before we can get it back."

"Knowing him, he has probably made plans on getting the darkness already." Terron said.

Animus added, "If needed, I will go there and get it myself then."

Chronos replied: "No there's no point in causing a scene when this situation can be dealt with a lower ranked god. You always act on your own which has never brought us any benefit."

Illusia interrupted them by saying: "Chronos is right. Let's just send the lower ranked god and get done with this, I'll have to go back to my country before something happens to it while it's unsupervised by me. It was nice meeting you all again ever since that event, goodbye," As soon as he said that, he disappeared into thin air.

Chronos sighed while smiling a little, "Well, he's as impatient as ever. But he's right, I'll summon the lower ranked god."

Terron put his hands together, "So this means our meeting is over. See you all some other time," He made a portal appear next to him and walked inside of it.

Ahrimanoth walked backwards into the shadowy corner and said: "I don't know when we'll meet again but this lower ranked god better succeed," As he reached the shadowy corner he disappeared into it.

Animus started glowing bright green, "I will not do anything as of yet, I have hope in this god," As he was talking he got brighter and brighter until he suddenly disappeared.

Chronos then summoned Sphairos, a lower ranked god who commands the Orbs of Oblivion. He had just gotten back from a mission when he found himself randomly appearing in front of two higher ranked gods, Voltaris and Chronos.

Nervously, he got himself on his feet and then bowed down on them: "It's a pleasure to meet you. May I ask what brings me here?" He tried to sound as polite as possible in front of his superiors.

Voltaris then replied: "There's a new darkness host, and we were thinking you could take care of him."

"No way!" Sphairos yelled out of shock but then gathered himself and replied, "Sorry, I mean I don't want to fight someone with the darkness, they're supposed to be insanely strong."

"Don't worry, we thought about that. It's a child who I think you could take care of. Also, you're the only available fitting god as of now so you don't have a choice here." Chronos said.

Sphairos, who was afraid of them and what they might do, agreed with them, "If it's just a kid then I guess I could take care of him."

When Yamikuro opened his eyes to the smell of coffee and freshly cooked bacon, he dragged himself out of bed.

He opened the door and saw Bernardo sitting in the kitchen reading the newspaper while sipping on coffee.

When Bernardo, who was Yamikuro's great uncle, saw Yamikuro had woken up, he said with a smile on his face: "Good morning. I didn't expect you to get up so early. I just made myself coffee and thought I'd wake you up after I'm done drinking it."

Yamikuro, who still had his eyes half closed, replied with just, "Morning."

When Yamikuro sat down at the table, Bernardo then asked, "Did you know that you're famous now?"

"What are you talking about?" Yamikuro replied while putting bacon on his plate.

"They have an entire article about you here." He said while handing the newspaper to Yamikuro, "You apparently caused quite a scene yesterday, using the darkness to kill a man. Oh and they also accuse you of causing the house fire."

Yamikuro got curious, "What?! Did they really say that?"

He then read the lines said by Lucian Malefique, "We've managed to find two bodies, who seem to be the parents of the kid that survived this incident. We have high suspicion on the kid, who we've managed to identify. Yamikuro Asaki, the boy possibly behind this, who also killed a man earlier that day. Witnesses say that he used some purple-like powers to not just kill the man but also try to go after the woman before passing out. If you know anything about this kid's whereabouts, please contact authorities immediately. We cannot allow those people with such powers to cause troubles for us."

Bernardo saw the shocked face of Yamikuro, whose eyes went from half closed to wide open, "Now then, you can't return back to your home city. I'm afraid you have to stay here for a while."

Yamikuro interrupted his talk, "Why are they suspecting me of this? Why would I kill my own parents?!"

"You see now why we need to train so you can use the darkness freely. The government is after you, not just the police," Bernardo explained.

Yamikuro, who lost his appetite after this news, stood up, "Then we need to start with it right now, don't we?!"

"I'm glad you're motivated now," Bernardo chuckled and finished his cup of coffee.

They made their way into his massive garden, where Yamikuro looked around in shock.

"So, I guess I'll explain the basics of the darkness," Bernardo started, "I don't know much but what I do know is that the darkness isn't easy to control. Only a few have managed to do it, but the fact that the darkness hasn't taken you completely over means we actually might have a chance in helping you control it."

Yamikuro looked at him with hopeful eyes and with the thought that something he'd only seen in movies has now become a reality for him.

Bernardo continued after a bit of silence, "In order for us to continue, you need to balance your emotions."

"What does that mean?" Yamikuro asked.

"Sorry, I jumped too far ahead," Bernardo said, "The darkness acts with the way you feel, meaning that if you're happy, the darkness is suppressed but if you're feeling sad or angry, the darkness has an easier chance to take control of you."

He then sat down on the ground, crossing his legs and placing his hands on them. "In order to control darkness easier you need to balance both of those emotions so you feel calm. The best way to do it is through meditation."

Yamikuro then copied Bernardo's pose he was doing and listened carefully to the next instructions, "Now you need to control your breathing and then empty all of your thoughts," Bernardo explained.

While Yamikuro was doing it, he managed to control the breathing but the negative thoughts of his dead parents wouldn't let him continue. With his eyes closed, he started seeing images of his dad and mom and his eyes started getting teary again.

Bernardo yhwho saw Yamikuro tear up, said: "You need to let it all out until you can't cry. I get exactly what you're feeling, I also had to mourn over my dead relatives multiple times."

Yamikuro opened his eyes and saw the old man look into the distance, most likely thinking about his trauma.

"May I ask what happened?" Yamikuro wanted to know.

Bernardo then looked at Yamikuro and said, "You don't need to feel bad about me, death is something I've acknowledged as a part of life. And you'll most likely have to do the same."

Yamikuro then replied, "I don't have anyone anymore."

"You'll find people who'll care about you, I'm sure of it," Bernardo said, "But I assume you're curious about my past still."

Yamikuro nodded in response, Bernardo took a deep breath and continued, "My parents died while trying to protect me and my brother. At first we didn't know about it and we kept waiting for them to return home, but when a few years had passed and my brother was drafted to war, he told me they had died in a battle, where they lured the enemies away from where we were to keep us safe. Then my brother was called to go and help out an army that had been struggling, he was a very talented fire user. But as expected he also died and I was left all alone, the house where I live has been our house since those times."

Yamikuro looked at the old man who didn't tear up or seem sad at all and said, "I'm really sorry that I asked you that."

"It's okay, It happened over 50 years ago so it doesn't cause as much pain anymore," He replied and then said, "We need to continue now."

Yamikuro closed his eyes again and as he was trying to clear his mind, he woke up in a dark place with a slight purple light covering the entire place. He looked around trying to figure out what happened until he heard a deep raspy voice calling out his name.

"Yamikuro Asaki... You are naive for thinking it's that easy to use my powers," said the mysterious voice.

"Who are you?!" Yamikuro yelled out while standing up from the ground that was slightly covered in water.

The mysterious voice laughed, "You're not going to be able to use my powers without sacrificing something."

"Sacrificing? What are you talking about?" Yamikuro started looking around to see where the voice was coming from.

"You must choose something to sacrifice in order to have darkness powers in return. That's how it's always been," the voice replied.

"I don't want to sacrifice anything. Just let me use this darkness power, I didn't ask to get it so why do I have to sacrifice something," Yamikuro started getting more confident.

"You're a bold one for talking back to me like this, you're lucky you were born this strong," the voice said.

"Show yourself. Who exactly are you?" Yamikuro asked again.

"I'm The Darkness and you're in my domain. What you think of my powers is that they're just a power up for you but one day you'll realize that this is a curse you must live your entire life with. I'll give you my powers but in return you'll sacrifice yourself to me," the voice said in an angry tone.

Yamikuro was silent for a couple of seconds and then said: "Like I told you already. I'm not sacrificing anything and besides I've already realized you're a curse placed upon me."

The Darkness laughed, "You can leave without ever being able to use my powers but that won't stop the gods from chasing you."

Yamikuro's feet were starting to get covered in small purple hands which didn't seem to bother him.

"Fine," Yamikuro said, "I'll sacrifice myself but I need you to tell me about these gods."

The Darkness laughed and the hands surrounding Yamikuro's feet disappeared, "You'll figure out what the gods are soon but all you need to know is that they're going to be a big part of your life. Now then... My powers are yours to share with. Don't get too lost with it, you've yet to see what darkness being a curse means."

Yamikuro suddenly woke up and saw Bernardo sitting in front of him.

"Are you okay?" Bernardo asked when he saw Yamikuro covered in sweat and he seemed to be anxious.

"I'm fine. I was able to awaken my darkness powers." Yamikuro replied.

"Is that so? I'd like you to show me your new powers," Bernardo said while standing up.

Yamikuro also stood up and said: "How do I use my powers exactly?"

"I assume it works like the other powers do. You have to use your physical energy and force it in the palm of your hands," Bernardo replied while recreating what he said.

Yamikuro tried it and the darkness flowed down his hand like water would.

"So this is what darkness looks like," said Bernardo who was amazed.

Yamikuro put his hand in a fist, stopping the darkness from flowing and said: "I don't feel my energy being used for this, instead it feels like I'm using the darkness' energy."

"It's because your powers don't work like other people's powers work but enough of that, we can take a break. You don't want to overwork yourself now." Bernardo said.

They went inside the house to eat when they suddenly heard an explosion like sound outside.
