Axis was standing alone within his bedroom, although it was lit to the brim with lights illuminating the room completely, it still felt somewhat dimmer than usual, especially without the love of his life Toriel standing right there with him, but he tried to not let that bother him too much especially as since he knew the reason to why she wasn't there now. There was something that he had to do now as for what they were all tasked to do, he must make sure he will be able to protect all of his people, and he remembers something that he heard of in the past from his family that may just come in handy for now. He takes a deep breath in as he settles himself to reach homeostasis within once more putting himself at ease as he grabs onto his coat from the closet and slides it onto himself, and with silent steps matching the utter emptiness around he would leave walking away, far far away over towards the very bottom of a mountain.
Axis stares up the mountaintop and stretches out his limbs preparing now to make the trek up it, it would take him some time due to it being crowded with various plants and wildlife, but he'll make it up there in due time.He would crunch through the various leaves and snow that riddled the winters ground, there was nothing but barren trees all around and silence that followed it, the only noise that could be heard to add to the chilling atmosphere was the chilling wind that blew its way across it making an ever growing chill echo throughout, a few animals such as deer were galloping around and then taking a break and sitting grazing on some exposed grass within the snow. Axis walked up to one of the grazing deer and offered it some other food being fruits nuts and other plants in a mix together. He then pat it on the head seeming to coax the deer into being gentle with it able to tame the creature seemingly quite easy as it bent down for him as he mounted the deer, Axis held on tight guiding it towards the top of the mountain wanting to conserve his energy for when he actually reached the top, that is where it all would begin.
The deer would take a stop at the top of the hill and he would gently get off of the animal giving it some more food for helping int him and allowing for the creature to dally off back to frolicking around once more and grazing around the grass, it was quite funny seeing such a delicate and peaceful creature even at a time like this, perhaps he should be more like a deer, the thought almost broke a laugh out of him but he shook his head side to side. "And here it is, I remember my father told me of this place and of the stories of old." While he spoke he began to draw a symbol on the ground with a branch of a tree that had fallen on the ground while they had come up to the top. "The story of the dragon that aids the royal family from the skies, to some it sounds like jibber jabber, but I believe him." He closed his eyes after he had finished drawing out the symbol with various seeming kanji inscribed on it like chants and epithets that aligned with what the dragon was supposed to be, he began to reminisce on the moment, when he had still been with his father and mother whom he still missed daily.
A young Axis was sat down next to his father on a couch idly seeming to be quite relaxed with him whilst his mother was taking up most of the space on it lying down and dozing off in her sleep, it had been Axis's birthday and they had celebrated for some time too much for even her. While he was in this laxed state he would feel that an arm was placed on his shoulder as he would turn to his side and look up seeing that it was his father doing so before he said something. "Son, I want you to listen to a story that I have to tell you, it's important, alright?" Axos would nod his head filled with curiosity as to what his father could be telling him, maybe it was an awesome story of one of his adventures, or maybe how he was going to be able to help him out sometime soon?! Alas, the best way to know the answer would be to actually just let his dad speak, and so he would. Axis's father would continue "My son, I need you to tell you a tale of our family and something that has been going on for generations and generations, we are not alone in our ruling, and we have been chosen by some sort of mandate of heaven and we have been bestowed such by a legendary dragon from the realms beyond. I'm sure you've heard stories about many various dragons in myth, but this is no myth, it is reality. It has blessed us since before even your great grandma and grandpa for something in the past, but there is one special thing about the dragon that I must tell you of. It was said that in a time of dire need one of us must ascend to a great high point and draw out this shape and he shall appear in present form to aid." Whilst he spoke he started to draw out the shape to show towards his son." Axis would stare seemingly baffled by the sudden revelation from his father and even laugh in the face of his father, as a child he had a wild imagination, but he was not quite an optimist to the reality of the fantastical, which now, he would be proven wrong.
The king sat within the middle of the circle with his eyes closed visualizing the dragon off of the description that he had been told, he recited a small hymn with the words that came out of his mouth seeming to pierce through the air with a powerful supernatural force emitting power with each one delivered, the circle began to glow a bright blue color as the incantations were spoken. A howling wind beyond even what the winter wind had been making, as if it was a whole group of wolves howling at once instead circling all around axis before it suddenly exploded as a roar that was unfamiliar with any known animal in the world as a dragon itself would appear entering the world through a small circular portal that was floating up above him… the dragon oddly resembled the dog that they called Toby, but it was pure light blue with a dark blue contour, the "dragon" was a dog wearing a dragon costume, Axis would see though what it was dressed as seemed familiar to what was described so he would not question it only having a deeper question come to him wondering if that dog was more than it was letting onto them. The gigantic Dogon (Dog Dragon) touched down onto the mountain in front of Axis and tilted its head downwards with the craftily made dragon head following and with that simple movement a wind so powerful that it was seemingly about to crush Axis had occurred though graciously the king had stood his ground.
"You.. Dragon, it was said that you would be the one to help me in dire need, and that is now. So please, help."
"Bark bark bark!" ("Very well, I will prove to aid you in your strife, but you are not getting anything without grabbing it with your own hands, I shall simply set you on the path!")
Axis would not expect to be able to understand the workings of the dog, but for some reason the mystical barks of the ascendant dragon had rang through his ears with a powerful voice, yet in a language that he could actually understand. What he said actually seemed to satisfy Axis, another thing that he was taught from a young age was that power should be earned not simply given, besides when it was it usually came with a heavy cost attached towards it. He gave a slight gulp and then turned upwards to meet the Dogon's eyes better with a steely gaze of conviction riddled across his countenance seeming to appease the dog with his will.
"Bark.. bark bark."(I am proud of what you've grown into as a young .. Come with me then."
The Dogon would extend one of its paws forward palm facing upwards allowing for Axis to simply go on it and stand on his paw to be escorted elsewhere by the gigantic dog creature. One second they were on the ground and the next they would be zooming off into the sky blazing through the air seeming to teleport and leave only a gust of wind to show that they were ever there, a notion to the immense power of the dogon. The circle within the sky that had been there from the dogon's entrance led them back towards the place that he came from acting as a portal as they would make touchdown on what seemed to be clouds, yet they were simply standing on them as if it was just fluffy springy ground instead of an actual cloud and there were far more wonders than that when Axis hopped off of their paw and looked up within the sky now seeing the other various wonders within the space. Axis would observe that there were other dragons, oddly this dogon beside him seemed to be the only one of its kind as the rest of them were pure just straight up dragons which would make him only come to question the existence of the dog once more, yet his trust in the words of his father did not waver.
"Bark"("Follow me right over here.") The dogon would usher Axis over towards what seemed to be a rather large house fit for one of his size pushing himself into it and allowing for Axis to come in with him before taking a seat on what resembled an extremely large couch of a living room, the dogon was way bigger sitting straight up which was a bit intimidating, but Axis sat beside him and was offered an extremely large cracker that covered his whole body which he would take slowly and started munching on it as the Dogon would speak once more. "Bark, bark" ("So young Axis, I know exactly what you want, but I want to hear it exactly from you. To get whatever you want it shall be grueling so I need to make sure one more time before accepting you.")
Axis would speak once more, but there was a difference in his clarity to express himself to the dogon. "I want.. Nothing more than strength, not strength just to be strong, I have no use for something like that. I want strength that can help me make a difference, I want strength that can help me defend what I have created and those that have gone long before me, I have no real desire to destroy or deconstruct or a desire for something beyond me so unnecessary, just enough to protect what I have." When he spoke the dogon would seem to be surprised by the exactness of his words, and he would slowly place a paw right onto the shoulder of Axis. "Young lad, you are reaching beyond my expectations with your words, but at the same time meeting them as I already knew all about you of course." The dogon would say with a big old grin, and he didn't even speak in barks this time, but he seemed to notice it and went back. "Bark, bark, bark."(You may call me Tobias, now then go off to rest. I'll show you a room somewhere around here, you won't be getting a lick of sleep after this my fair one.
Axis would just awkwardly chuckle after hearing that wondering what exactly he had gotten himself into, but what it was did not exactly matter to Axis, as it was beyond his care for his own wellbeing and it was about something that mattered more than him, something beyond even that.
