Chapter 27 - Feeling?

As usual whenever parties were hosted by my classmates, it was usually a house party.

Most of us were from rich homes while few were from middle class homes. It was mostly the rich ones who threw house parties.

Vivian's living room was another show of immense wealth. The whole place was magnificent and such contributed to the lively mood of the party.

Music boomed from the speakers. A couple of people were on the dance floor. Some were in groups drinking either wine or soda while a few defiants smuggled alcohol into the party.

People were just going about various activities when Kiki and I arrived in our best fits. Almost everyone from our class was at the party.

"Ah ah! Is that not Ejiro?" Kiki pointed out from where we both sat, drinking a bottle of fanta each.

My eyes swept across the distance she was pointing towards and I finally got a catch of who she was talking about.

"Leave that one. She has no shame," She hissed. "She doesn't know what it means to have someone embarass you yet you still go to their party after being deliberately invited."

"I could never," Kiki shook her head and took a sip out of her drink.

All of a sudden, she started poking her head about like an ostrich.

"What is it?" I was forced to ask.

"Where is your boyfriend? Shey you said you invited him," She asked with widened eyes.

"Kiki stop this nau," I pouted. "I've told you that he isn't my boyfriend. He is just a friend."

Funny how she chuckled at my words.

"That is what they always say," She shook her head once again before taking another sip of her drink.

As we chatted about school stuff and a few other things, someone walked up to us.

It was Tobi.

To be honest, he looked really handsome in baggy clothes. I think they were more like his style.

"Good evening ladies," He greeted us with a bright smile.

"Good evening Tobi," We chorused, Kiki's voice somewhat overshadowing mine.

"May I join you?" He raised both eyebrows in a way that Kiki found hot.

"Of course," Kiki hurriedly replied as she patted the seat next to her.

Without being hesitant, he moved to sit next to her.

"You two are looking stunning tonight," He commented.

"Thank you," I smiled.

"You look amazingly handsome too," Kiki smiled as well.

Seeing that she was surely going to be all over him, I decided to do what I felt was best.

"Could you both excuse me? I'm going to be that way," I stood up and Kiki mouthed a ' thank you '.

I could see it in her eyes that she was grateful.

"Why? You should stay," Tobi didn't seem pleased.

"No worries. I just prefer it over there and I want to see a few other friends, ok?" I insisted.

"Oh ok then," Tobi simply accepted defeat.

I moved to stand by the mini bar counter. There were tons of drinks displayed in the glass shelves, both the ones I knew and the ones I didn't.

My bottle of fanta was finished and I was eager to have a try of something else - something that wasn't alcoholic.

The bartender was busy cleaning up some glasses and arranging them back into the shelves. Since he had his back turned to me, I called his attention.

"Um excuse me, can I have the best of your fruit drinks? Like something really nice," I pointed out.

He turned around to face me and flashed the most attractive smirk I had ever seen.

"Alright ma'am."

My mouth went open and my eyes widened.

"When did you get here?" I playfully slapped him on the shoulder.

"You definitely wouldn't have noticed. I love attending to people at parties," He shrugged.

"Hey Miles!" A couple of girls drinking at one side of the counter did a cheer to him.

"Enjoy yourself ladies," He winked and that got the girls screaming and sending him seductive gazes.

I don't know why I felt so mad that he winked at those girls but It was definitely a big deal to me.

He just W-I-N-K-E-D at those girls!

"I see you're quite popular," I said as soon as his attention was back on me, emphasizing "popular".

"The ladies like bartenders with the looks," He shrugged once again. "You can't blame me."

To be honest, Miles really looked very handsome even in his bartender uniform consisting of a marker shirt and a pair of black jeans with a face cap over his head.

"So ma'am," He continued. "We have two best fruit drinks and they are the most requested. Pineapple or lemon?"

"Hmmm," I placed a finger on my cheek to show I was thinking. "I think I'll go for pineapple."

"Pineapple it is," He winked and turned his back against me.

My eyes widened and I could feel butterflies in my belly. Did he just wink at me?

He W-I-N-K-E-D at me!

In a short time, my pineapple juice was before me in a glass cup, fruit slices gracing a side of the cup.

"Not bad," I nodded my head after a sip.

"Thank you ma'am. I'm glad you enjoyed it," He replied with an air of pride.

Amidst this jolly moment between me and Miles, someone didn't seem too happy. The look in his eyes made me believe that he could go into a coma any moment because of how free I was around the bartender.

Tobi glanced every second in my direction, barely invested in Kiki's words.

"You look beautiful by the way," Miles finally commented after I was gulped down the second glass of fruit juice.

Thank God that I was dark skinned, otherwise he would have seen my flaming rosy cheeks.

"Thank you," I hid my smile in the next glass of fruit juice.

"You're very much welcome ma'am. Have I been able to satisfy you?" He raised both eyebrows in question.

Just as I was about to say something in response, a group of people walked into the party. Well, a group of boys.

These group of boys were definitely yahoo boys. Nobody needed an oracle to tell who they were, the way they dressed gave them off. To announce their grand entry, money flew about from their portfolios and it was at this point in time that the birthday celebrant, Vivian finally showed up.
