Chapter 32 - Where is Miles?

Beep. beep.

Beep. beep.

My lashes fluttered open and a tear flickered. My eyes were greeted by the crimson walls of my surroundings that smelt like a hospital.

"What happened? Where am I?" I muttered and groaned slightly from the pain I felt a little above my abdomen.

Being the insistent girl I was, I struggled each time to get up from the hospital bed yet the pain I felt didn't let me. Deciding to try for the last time, a swift pair of arms prevented me and gently placed me back onto the bed.

"Tilda you're hurt, take it easy," Tobi said to me. His voice and expression told me that he was concerned about my health and at the same time excited.

"Where is he?" I finally let out the burning question.

Perplexed, he stared at me.

"Where is Miles?"

"Who are you talking about? Who's that?" He asked, the confused look never left his face.

"I want to see him... bring him here. I-I...I want to know why..." My voice cracked and another tear fell on my left cheek.

Even though he was still confused by the words that eluded my mouth, he decided to play it cool with me.

"I'll be right back," He quickly said and I watched his back as he walked out of the the room.

Another tear dropped from my eyes and my vision turned blurry from the droplets that soon followed.

"Why? Miles why?"

I was confused and only the owner of that name could give me answers to those questions that caused my heart to ache.

~ TOBI'S POV ~

She was acting all strange yet I couldn't point a finger to what exactly was wrong.

Miles...

Who was she talking about? And why did she want to see that person so badly?

Making sure I was a safe distance away from the room, I took out my phone and dialed Kiki's number.

Barely even a second was wasted before she answered my call.

"Hello," her usual cheerful voice rang out in my ears.

"Hi, um Kiki, Tilda just woke up and I think something is wrong with her. She's been wanting to see someone called Miles."

She went silent for a brief moment.

"I'm on my way. I'll handle everything.

~ TILDA'S POV ~

The next time the door of the hospital room went open, Tobi returned, but this time he wasn't alone he had come with Kiki who as soon as she set her eyes on me, went on her knees and started crying uncontrollably. They were also accompanied by a doctor and three nurses.

Despite being the most person she shared things with, there was one thing Kiki barely did in front of me and that was cry.

"Kiki..." My voice trailed off.

I couldn't bear to see her cry because of my condition.

"You're awake," She said amidst tears, still too weak to lift herself from the ground.

"Miss Matilda, how do you feel?" The doctor asked me with a bright smile as if to assure me that Kiki was going to be alright.

"I feel so much pain here," I groaned as I placed my hand over my abdomen.

"Don't worry too much about it. You'll be fine," He smiled once again as if what I felt was nothing. "Once Mrs. Olusegun gets here, we'll let you know what is on ground."

"Yes doctor," I replied.

Afterwards he left the nurses to do the job of fixing a new drip for me and once they were done, they left as well.

Kiki, who had finally got back on her feet but was still in so much tears, moved to sit on a vacant chair beside my bed.

"You are awake," She sniffed and proceeded to take my hand into hers.

"How long have I been out?" I asked, hurt from seeing her tears.

"Three months. Babe, you leave me for three months, no cap," She continued to sob.

"Three months?!" I wanted to continue crying at the mention of that. "Where is Miles?"

On hearing his name, the tears in her eyes dried up.

"Who is that?" She asked, looking as confused as Tobi had been when I asked him the same question.

"Who is this Miles?" Tobi chipped in.

I sighed, remembering that she only knew who he was but was yet to know of his name.

"That boy with blue eyes. The one you call handsome. The one you call my boyfriend. The one you saw with me at that couple items store."

However, the look on their faces remained.

"Tilda, are you alright? I don't remember meeting any boy with blue eyes nor seeing you with a guy like that. You sure say you well so?" Kiki shook her head as she spoke.

"How can you not know I'm talking about? He took us both on outings so many times," I pushed on my point, starting to feel that she was pretending to have no idea of what I was saying, probably because Tobi was with us in the room.

I sighed and averted my gaze to the dark skinned boy.

"Tobi do you remember the bartender I danced with at Vivian's party?"

He shook his head. "You never danced with a bartender at Vivian's party. You danced with some random guy who didn't even have blue eyes. Besides, all these happened three months ago just before you fell into a coma."

A scoff escaped my lips.

"What are you people trying to say? That I don't know of the things I experienced."

"Maybe you just need some time to rest," Kiki finally said.

"Kiki..." I was cut short by her next line of words.

"You just need some rest. Perhaps you had a nightmare and that's why you're acting this way," She sighed.

Without wasting anymore time, she and Tobi left me alone in the room.

Why couldn't they remember who Miles was? What exactly was even going on?

How could they say they didn't know of the boy with blue eyes? If they had somehow mysteriously forgotten who he was, then what did they think got me into a hospital?

And where is Miles?
