"Has the letter been sent?" "The letter has been sent, sir. Do you think they believe that the Avatar is heading north to learn waterbending?" "That's the truth, isn't it? Aren't we helping them win the war? The Emperor is concerned about only one person, and that's the Avatar. He believes that the Avatar is the only one who can stop him, so we must take advantage of those weaknesses."
Although the elders had judged that they would be attacked, Thorian had set his plans in motion by sending a soldier with serious combat wounds directly to one of the Fire Nation colonies that had been targeted for attack for some time.
What they did was send that soldier to the brink of death with a message stating exactly where the Avatar, whom they should be actively seeking, was currently traveling. Not only would they alert the army, but it would also alleviate the pressure in the south now that they were freeing prisoners from the Earth Nation.
By having control over the enemy's next movements, they would only need to wait to mobilize half of their troops to attack, with the other half behind the soldiers sent to attack the north in search of the Avatar, who should be traveling in that direction at this very moment.
At the same time, Thorian realized that if the enemy truly had mastery of waterbending, they should know that the Avatar might be in the south right now, learning their arts. This forced him to dispel those doubts about the south to further ensure their dominance.
Watching as one of the last prisons in this place was attacked, Thorian looked into the distance where more enemies were and said, "But I still remain in doubt: will that colony send its own soldiers or pass the mission to someone else?"
Brad, who was standing beside him, smiled a little. "Soldiers are very ambitious; they are constantly striving to advance their rank and will do everything possible to gain favor with the Emperor. I'm sure they won't pass this information on to anyone but themselves."
When everyone else heard Thorian's plans, many soldiers who controlled the earth and had recovered tensed up because they were about to make a very significant military move.
"Will we end them all?" Brad's eyebrows furrowed as eliminating colonies was not his forte; the last time he did it, it didn't turn out very well, so he hoped for a different method.
Thorian thought about this for a moment and said, "We could use the hostages we have obtained from these prisons where they have hidden Earth Nation soldiers. If they can bear to see their soldiers die, then there would be no other reason than to break them."
The art of war also meant playing with the enemy's mind; entering their consciousness would give them complete freedom to win many easy battles.
What is a colony's reaction when they see soldiers of their nation being beheaded outside their walls?
The only requirement for victory is their surrender. Thorian had very dark plans that he would use to win battles without the need to lose soldiers, but everything was still moving slowly.
"If we take the colony on the coast of the Earth Nation, it would be much easier to establish a defense with the soldiers who have been freed. They would have total control of their land at night, and we could quickly attack strategic locations of the nation."
Once they sent the message to the colony, they would act on their own, so it was just a matter of waiting. Patience: everyone needed to have patience so they could achieve quick victories.
"Sir, my name is Halfdan; my father was a former general who died in battle holding back the invaders five years ago. We are grateful that you have saved us and will be delighted to participate in the war as soon as possible," said a man with a very long beard.
Thorian extended his hand and said, "A son of a general, surely you can avenge your father's death. I will assess your skills and may consider placing you as a general among the soldiers who control the earth; there are good war tactics that require your involvement."
"Understood, sir!" Halfdan nodded eagerly to be free again; he didn't know how the war was going, but he was sure that if there were still Water Nation warriors, things couldn't be too bad.
