At dawn, the world was greeted by a light drizzle in the western area of the war nation, and dark clouds darkened the morning. This gloomy weather gave me a very strange feeling every time it happened.
The colony, located in the narrow sea, had a huge wall that had never been breached.
At that moment, not too far away, there were thousands of people in the coalition fleet. They were all mixed warriors, including earthbending masters, aggressive icebenders, and common soldiers who preferred other doctrines over training their elemental control.
Among the cruisers, there wasn't even a sound of breathing; the great army of warriors was as silent as the deepest ocean. There might be turmoil at the bottom of the ocean, but it wouldn't stir the atmosphere outside. Even the warriors' gazes were calm.
There were men on the catapults on the outer parts of the cruisers, men in the inner machinery, or personnel handling the cannons. Everyone had fallen silent, awaiting the attack order. They were quiet, waiting for the moment to strike.
All the warriors glanced at each other, simply waiting, and when the wait seemed eternal, a trumpet sounded from behind the cruisers.
"Battle stations, we will commence with stage one of the attack."
"You heard; it's time to move."
"Everyone in their positions."
At that moment, the icebending masters began moving their hands back and forth, creating a snowstorm that started to spread out towards the sides, directed at that distant colony.
All the warriors who felt outraged dragged the prisoners of war onto the cruisers and chained them with metal chains. Once negotiations began, these people would be the first to die. All of this would be avoided if the enemy soldiers opened their gates and surrendered.
...
Colony in the narrow sea.
Derek was nervously carrying out his surveillance routine. Now that many of his good warriors had left for some reason, he felt the touch of death on his neck.
"What will they give us to eat today?"
"I hope it's pork; I haven't tasted this delicious meat in a long time."
Just as Derek was about to say something, a thick fog resembling a wall began to approach from afar, alarming everyone. He shouted, "Quick, send the signals."
"What?"
"We're under attack, idiot; send the damn signal so everyone is ready." Derek grabbed a man by the sleeves of his clothes and pushed him towards the stairs.
"Understood, I'll give the warning."
"May the flame give us strength."
Derek watched as the thick fog drew nearer and didn't know what to do. A few hours ago, the fleet had departed with the best warriors, leaving the young ones in charge of this colony.
The higher-ups never expected to be attacked as soon as they left the city, but they didn't expect that this was what the enemy was waiting for to attack this colony.
"Send the civilians to the shelters, have all soldiers stationed at their combat posts, and send a distress signal to the nearest colony," Derek shouted, quickly assuming control of the situation.
All the young warriors who had heard about the fall of the nearby colony knew how cruel the enemy could be, so fear began to fill their bodies.
"Don't be afraid; we won't fall if we trust in that wall," Derek said as he watched thousands of soldiers start arriving from all sides, and a sigh of relief escaped his lungs.
But at that moment, the water outside the walls began to freeze to the point where the water had disappeared, and at that moment, the fog that had formed also began to slowly disappear.
As if no one expected it, the enormous coalition army fleet left the soldiers of the Fire Nation stunned as they looked at those soldiers with strange armor. But as if that wasn't incredible enough to see, what they saw next left them frozen.
"They are..."
"Children, soldiers, and elders from the previous colony..." Derek clenched his fists tightly as he saw children chained in front of soldiers holding long swords stained with blood.
"Those damned ones will be punished by the demons they are!"
"We'll kill them all!"
Darío, who was the general of this army, stepped forward and shouted, "Similar to the previous colony, you will be given the chance to surrender. You can help us avoid unnecessary bloodshed."
"We'll give you the gift of sparing your people's lives. If any of you oppose us, not only will you die, but your families in that city, especially the children, will die." Darío's voice showed no emotions; this was war, and he was just another soldier who had to follow orders.
"We await your response: surrender or be attacked."
At that moment, an elderly man walked in front of the soldiers and said, "Listen, if we surrender, maybe our families won't die... But if we don't surrender and fight to the end, those people will die—families of slain warriors."
"We can't surrender; we'll fight and wait for reinforcements."
"You have one minute." Darío applied pressure from behind.
A soldier who had taken the weight of the decision shouted, "We won't surrender."
At that moment, Darío looked at those soldiers with disdain and then signaled some Earth Kingdom soldiers to begin.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
Instantly, three soldier heads that had tried to escape earlier fell from the battleship and crashed forcefully onto the frozen sea. Shortly after, without any expression, the soldiers tossed the decapitated bodies.
"Do you still think the same?"
