Chapter 15 - 15. The Smart Student

Overthrown by this question, I noticed that Otto's mind was beginning to give up on him sure for a smart guy like him this kinda question should be easier to him. I'm not sure what he was thinking or what he was about to do but I couldn't figure him out.

On the other hand Ms. Penelope Jackson wasn't going to let Otto get off easy just like that she kept on pushing and pushing. Until.

"Well Mr. Benson, what's your answer?" she taunts Otto.

"No!! You are wrong I'm Otto and I am human too" Otto's voice breaking.

"Well Otto, how sure are you that everything you've known your entire life is actually true, huh?!" Ms. Penelope just pressed on more.

"I don't know! I, I, I just don't, okay!" Otto finally breaks.

See Otto getting crushed and screwed over and over again I couldn't bare to sit back anymore.

"You are both wrong" I said.

"Eh?" Ms. Jackson questioned.

"It doesn't matter who is right or wrong as long as Otto knows who he is, that's all that matters so he shouldn't care what people view as real or not. It's his own life not theirs" I stated.

Shocked by the energy that was now floating in the air, my classmates were caught in a rock and a hard place.

"Well, aren't you Mr. Smarty pants, now tell me what makes you think everything you know is true?" Now she asked me.

"It's not" I said.

"Ah! Please elaborate" Ms. Jackson asked.

"I live in the world overruled by machines, what I know now won't be true the next following day, due to the change that we face in this world. Nothing is as it seems, yet we managed to paint a picture that allows us to explain the unexplainable... Like if you don't mind me asking. Why are you a beautiful lady?" I reversed the question back to her.

"Well because" she was about to tell me.

"Now before you say it's because I'm a lady and I have to be beautiful, if you notice that you already tried to explain what never needed explanation in the first place" I interrupted Ms. Penelope.

"What's your name, stranger?" Out of curiosity.

"Miles, my name is Miles Jordan" I replied.

"Well I'll be damned Mr. Jordan, you just passed the first test. Congratulations" Ms. Jackson sounds intrigued.

What the hell what she talking about everyone asked, in confusion I think Ms. Jackson saw our brains turning to mash.

"Allow me to explain furthermore, the lesson for today was how sure what you know about the Salvation is true?" she explained.

Wanting to see where this is going I think I'm saying it on behalf of everyone when I say we listened to everything she said.

Ms. Jackson starts to write down somethings on the board, as she writes them she continues to explain to us.

"What you think you know about the Salvation might be useful information today or even tomorrow if you are lucky, or if you are lucky at all what you know might be even true... What I'm trying to teach you guys is that don't ever listen to what another person's information about what you haven't seen, experienced... Because not everything is what it seems" she concluded.

Seeing first hand what Ms. Jackson is capable of I think it's safe to say, our class was about to learn more about mentality as a whole.

The day went by so quick, we went home and our way everyone was muttering about what I did today, I outshined Otto which isn't what I wanted to do. Great I thought, now I'm about to be famous for a stupid thing I was lucky enough to solve fast.

I guess the word got out because it spread out like wild-fire, when I got to my room. There was Jean waiting for me.

"There he is the star of the school" she said with excitement.

"I will come back later" I throw my bag to the floor then I just go away leaving Jean by herself.

I wonder off a little, and I have come to realize that whenever I do that it's because of something I've done. But this time it's different it's not like what I did today at school was something out of the ordinary for me, like hey I've lived in the slums my whole life. I've seen and heard it all.

So I knew how to handle myself, there I was in the cafeteria looking for apples to devour. I know, I know I just opened up to a lot of different food opportunities. So why am I eating only apples? You ask.

Well the answer is really simple real, it's because I love them.
